Trouble
Liu Feng stood up and stared out the window. He knew now that his mother was an Asura but his dad was a being with six wings and that was definitely not a human being. This makes him half asura and whatever his dad was, “but how did the government not notice that I was not human?” Liu Feng thought as he wore the necklace around his neck.
“First things first let's practice the eight ethereal strikes with Kumo which is now a grade E weapon,” he said as he had a glee on his face. “Later I can go to the library and try to figure out what race my dad was,” he thought with a determined look on his face.
He took out Kumo from his interspatial ring as he wielded he could feel that he and the staff were connected like the staff was an extension of his hands.
“97…98…99…100…Phew finally I’m done with the first strike lets try to practice the second strike”
The second strike is a thrust that connects from the outward to the inward swing of the first strike.
“98…99…100…Huff”
*Thud*
Liu Feng collapsed on his butt from exhaustion. “I estimate it would take me another 2 more days to reach the Early stage of the eight ethereal strikes where I will have the first two strikes fully comprehended, now let's take a break for a while and start cultivating,” he said as he kept back Kumo into his ring.
After 30 mins of cultivation he now had 35% of his dantian filled, he went to take a shower as he needed to head to school to register for the scholarship. Liu Feng needed to head to the library as well since it was in the school also.
Liu Feng headed to school to the scholarship registration counter to register for the scholarship.
“Are you here to register for the scholarship?” The lady at the counter asked him.
“Yes, I would like to register for the scholarship” Liu Feng answered.
“Please place your hand on the scanner to determine your cultivation level as a minimum of Qi gathering 3 is required to be eligible for the scholarship and please state your name and which year you are in for record purposes” the lady instructed him.
“My name is Liu Feng and I am in Year 1,” he said as he placed his hands on the scanner.
The lady was shocked as normally only year 4 students participate for the scholarship. “Boy I can see that you have a cultivation of Qi gathering 3 but year 4 students have a cultivation of Qi gathering 7 and 8 as an average, you still have three more years to cultivate so why the rush?” She explained to Liu Feng out of concern.
“I understand teacher but I am under the government funding and it will end when I am 16 which is in another 2 years thus if I get the scholarship it will help me pay off University as well as the remaining years of high school.”
“Ohhh I did not know that…Okay I wish you all the best”
The lady said as she registered Liu Feng for the scholarship.
“Only three people will be eligible for the scholarship this year the government has changed the rules this year. Before this, it used to be a cultivation check every mid-year exam as well as the final year exam for 4 years in high school.
But this year they decided to change it up and allow anyone from all years of high school to participate as long as they have a cultivation of Qi gathering 3 and above.
But only the three top students would be able to get the scholarship and this will be decided in a survival style competition in the Wild Lands, as for the specifics I have not been informed yet all I know is that this completion will happen 5 months from now in June. So be prepared, Boy.” The lady explained the details to him.
“Thank you for the information” Liu Feng thanked the lady and headed towards the library. He did not expect the rules of this year’s scholarship to be changed so suddenly. It was almost like the government was rushing for something.
As he entered the library he headed for the section which had the books on different species and planets.
He first took out books about the Asura race to understand more about the race of his mother and also himself technically.
After reading for a few hours he got a general gist about the Asura race.

The Asuras have been in existence about 50 million years before humanity thus they have developed faster in terms of cultivation they have an arch-enemy which was called the winged race also known as Devas. “This is what my Dad and also the reason for me being able to cultivate the deva boost since I am half deva”, Liu Feng thought.
The Devas waged war on the Asuras 5 million years ago but they were wiped out instead. “This does not make sense if the Devas were wiped out 5 million years ago then the memories he saw should be from 5 million years ago but…I am only 14 this year” Liu Feng mumbled softly.
There was a gap in these 5 million years which humanity did not know about.
This made things more complicated, why did the Devas wage war on the Asuras and why was the memories he saw which were supposed to be 14 years old since that was his age when the Devas have been extinct for 5 million years.
Liu Feng kept all these questions in the back of his head since he already found out what he came for which was the race of his father. “My father is a deva and my mother is an Asura, thus I have no ties with humanity itself except for Lei Jun. Speaking about Lei Jun I should probably go and pay him a visit since he would be worried why I have not shown up for 3 days.” Liu Feng said as he kept the books back and went to find Lei Jun in class.
Liu Feng searched the whole school but could not find Lei Jun in any of the classrooms he then proceeded to find Han Yau his class teacher to ask him where Lei Jun was. As he walked into the staff room to find his class teacher.
“Ahh, Liu Feng you finally decided to come to school, where were you all this while?” Han Yau asked him as he got up from his chair.
“Ah, teacher I was out in the Wild Lands to get some experience.” Liu Feng answered
“Liu Feng, you were too hasty don’t rush into things, and also have you heard of the change of rules and the format for the scholarship?” Han Yau asked him.
“Yes teacher I will keep that in mind and I have also heard of the changes and I have already applied to enter the competition for the scholarship”
“Huh!!! You already applied you reached Qi gathering 3? Even if you have that is a dumb move not only will the year 4s of West high school be participating but the other years for North, East, and South high school will be participating as well” Han Yau exclaimed
“I have already considered that teacher let me think about how to handle it but the reason why I came to find you today was that I could not find Lei Jun in any of the classrooms do you know where he is?”
“Wasn’t he with you when you went to the Wild Lands? Oh, my stupid boy don’t tell me you went alone ahhh. Please slow down you still have some time before the government funding stops for you. Don’t get yourself killed.”
Han Yau berated him.
“I understand teacher”
“Go to his father’s medicine shop he might be there”
“Understood teacher and thank you for your concern,” Liu Feng said as he walked out of the staff room and headed to Lei Jun’s father’s medicine shop.
As he reached the medicine shop which was not too big but just an average-sized medicine shop, he realized the shop was thrashed as he had been here before he knew that something was wrong. He immediately rushed inside and saw Lei Jun and his mother cleaning up the inside of the store.
“Lei Jun what happened?” Liu Feng asked
As soon as Lei Jun heard he turned around and said “my brother where were you? I tried finding you but you were not at your house.” Lei Jun asked.
“Hello, aunty how have you been?” Liu Feng asked Lei Jun’s mother.
“Ah, Feng’er why have you not come to eat auntie’s cooking all this time?”
“I was caught up while doing some things for a while I will have a meal which you cooked later, for now, I have to go somewhere with Lei Jun for a while,” Liu Feng said as he dragged Lei Jun out.
“Tell me now what happened?” Liu Feng asked Lei Jun with a serious tone
“Ummm you remember those kids who used to bully you in middle school their leader Bai Hu his father got promoted to manager of the 5th floor of the Phoenix building thus the Bai family got more power. He took this as a chance to get revenge on me since I always used to beat him up.” Lei Jun said.
“Did he just trash the shop how come I did not see your father or your older sister anywhere?” Liu Feng asked.
“Ummm dad got beat up pretty badly by Bai Hu’s man and they took sister away to keep her as a prisoner in the Bai family until we paid 1 purple dram as compensation for beating him up in middle school.
They promised us they would not hurt my sister in this one month but if we don’t pay up after 1 month they would sell her off as a slave.” Lei Jun said with his head down. “I could not even defend my family” tears dripped down as he said that.
“Lei Jun I need to ask you something and you need to answer me as clearly as possible. What is the cultivation level of the strongest person in the Bai clan?”
“Ummm the one with the strongest cultivation level in the Bai clan would be Bai Hu’s grandfather who is the head of the clan, and his cultivation level would be at Qi condensation 4 that’s why we could not go against them since my dad’s cultivation is only at Qi condensation 2,” Lei Jun said visible sadness on his face.
“Okay brother leave this to me a month from now after I get your sister back I will explain everything to you,” Liu Feng said as he walked off.
Liu Feng went to the market place leaving a confused Lei Jun standing there.
He went to sell off all the beast pelts he had at the market place eventually he managed to haggle and sold it for 25 green drams. With 50 green drams and 6 white drams, he went to find for a pill called martial tear which could boost martial comprehension while practicing martial skills.
Since one martial tear was worth 10 green drams each he bought 4 of it leaving him with 10 green drams and 6 white drams.
When he reached home he organized his thoughts using the 4 martial tears he would get the eight ethereal strikes to peak stage and using this one month he would be able to cultivate till Qi condensation 4 if he accumulated 35% of Qi each day he cultivated.
Liu Feng knew that since he was under government funding Bai Hu could not deal with him thus he went to cause a scene at Lei Jun’s place and since Lei Jun only beat up Bai Hu to protect him.
All of this was up to Liu Feng to solve, “Just because I am not human does not make me any less humane, I will cultivate this 1 month without leaving the room and bring back Lei Jun’s sister. As this problem is mine, to begin with.” Liu Feng said with determination as he took out Kumo to begin practicing.
