Hello everyone I hope you enjoy this next chapter.
---------------
I got home and immediately went to my room. School ended for the summer break and Alex and I decided to meet in-game right before it launched which would be in two days.
Alex thrust the copy of the game after school to me with excited eyes while saying, “You have to play!”
I couldn’t say no to my best friend so I had to accept it and since I would be bored anyway I might as well play it.
My home is very quiet, my brother Aaron, is doing taekwondo practice over at the nearby dojo. He won’t be home till seven in the evening and right now it was three. My parents are workaholics so they won’t be at home at all.
I have the home to myself which was a standard four bedroom home with two floors. It was nicely decorated by my mother’s interior designer and looked exactly like a home that was perfect for sale.
My room was way too clean for a seventeen year old but it was regularly cleaned by another caretaker that my parents hired. Our parents provide for us but there is none of that warmth that a family is supposed to have. At least that was what I felt whenever I visited Alex.
So I booted up my computer and changed out of my uniform. I wanted to look up more information about Arun online before I started playing it.
As my computer booted up I got my Omnisphere ready and inserted the gaming chip on the side. I plugged it in to the socket next to my bed and set it down on my nightstand.
My bed was a king sized bed with blue covers. The nightstand had a small tree like lamp that I would turn on when I wanted to read one of the books from my bookshelf which was right in front of my bed. I had a walk-in closet next to my bookshelf where I got my clothes and my computer station was also to the right of the closet.
The door to my room was located to the right of my bed and the bed would be covered by the door when opened. The wall that you would see is filled with trophies that I won in taekwondo as well as the belts and the boards that I had broken.
Having finished changing and the computer being booted up, I searched for more information on Arun online.
I looked up information that whole night that I never noticed my brother come home and also didn’t eat dinner. I went to sleep and thought about all the information that I learned.
The seven races have sub-races that can be chosen. In addition to Elves, there are Dark Elves and High Elves. Elves were generally a magic based class but with the sub-races, you can either make a more combat based or an extreme magic based character.
Humans were well balanced in stats but they didn’t have any sub-races. Instead, one can modify the starting stats to make a character that is more combat or more magic.
Dwarves were generally a combat related race but there are sub-races that make them more combat or more magic based. The Orcs and the Beastmen were the same in this regard to the Dwarves.
The Demons and Dragons were like the humans that one can modify the stats but these have weaknesses in magic. Demons are weak against Nature, Divine and Light while Dragons had no weakness against the elements.
Concerning the element system, there are a total of nine different elements. The elements were Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Fire, Nature, Divine, Light and Shadow.
Each element also had a weakness. Water was weak against Lightning which was weak against Earth which was weak against Wind which was weak against Fire which was weak against water. Nature was weak against Divine while Divine was weak against Nature. Light and Shadow were the same as Nature and Divine.
There were also eight different weapons that could be wielded. They were the Sword, Lance, Axe, Gun, Bow, Staff, Rod and Shield.
The Sword was weak against the Lance which was weak against the Axe which was weak against the Sword. The Gun, Bow, Staff, Rod, and Shield had no weaknesses other than the skill of the player.
The five main classes were Swordsman, Cleric, Magician, Ranger, and Warrior. The Swordsman class was a class that relied on the strength of his weapons. The Cleric was the healer class and the Magician was the magic damage dealing class. The Ranger was the Ranged class and the Warrior was a brute class. I wasn’t able to see a rogue or thief like class but there was some speculation that it was a hidden class that you had to use a dagger as your primary weapon for some time.
I was a bit confused about that fact but the class might have been very powerful for it to be a hidden class or it might just be a quirk of the game that you have to join some kind of organization to do so.
The game had organizations that worked as secondary professions. Some of them were hidden while most were easily joined so long as you met the requirements. The professions were Miner, Skinner, Botanist, Zoologist, Fisher, Cook, Tailor, Leatherworker, Jeweler, Armor Smith, Fletcher, Woodcarver, Weapon Smith, Engineer, Hunter, Merchant, Soldier and Owner.
Each player would start in the same continent just in different areas. The continent known as Arun was a 20,000 square kilometer continent that was separated in the middle by the Great Forest. This forest was the starting area for the Beastmen, Elves, and Orcs. The western side was the land of the Shadow races while the eastern side was the land of the Light races.
Humans started in the Plains of Solitude to the very far east but just a little bit north of the continent almost to the sea. The Dwarves started in Mount Stonepeak which was located just right next to the sea. The Demons started in the Forgotten Lands of the west. Similar in location to the humans starting area but just to the western side of the continent. The Dragons also started the same way only they started in the Mountain Range of Dark Spires.
These starting areas are very far away from where the warzone that is in the center but the game allows those that want to focus on pvp to be teleported to the warzone once they finish their tutorials. Those that choose to not be placed on the warzone until they wish to can simply explore their area of the continent looking for dungeons or just having a relaxing time. Those that have the starting areas near the warzone also have this opportunity.
The Warzone itself is a nearly half of the whole continent in size. The Great Forest surrounds this warzone that has all kinds of terrain from a large lake where naval battles can be done, a large desert, a jungle terrain, a mountainous terrain and all kinds of terrain fit for combat.
Every 8 hours in-game will allow one of the zones to be open for control. The more zones a faction controls, the more benefits they receive in terms of experience, materials as well as the contested Shards of Arun. These Shards can only be found within the warzone and it is what each faction is coveting.
Along with the game came more time for players. Players can play the game while sleeping and they will play the game that way. 1 hour in the real world equals 8 hours in the game world. This feature was introduced after advancements in the science of dreams and how our brains can make a day long dream last only a brief second. Utilizing this power, the game can easily be played by anyone within their dreams while having the person wake up peacefully and well rested as well as keeping all memory of playing the game.
I decided to play as a very specific kind of subset after researching. The starting race has to be specifically chosen or else it will merely choose the general race. The subsets of each race are varied and are not revealed to the player in character creation.
The sub race that I chose was a Demonic Vampire Dragon. I chose this race because I wanted to be unique player and the fact that these very specific sub-races have a very high level of difficulty in finding as the sub-race was a hidden feature.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
For a starting class I chose Ranger and for secondary professions I chose Hunter, Zoologist, Engineer, and Owner. Each player can only choose four secondary professions and I chose these because the Hunter profession allows me to catch creatures and turn them into mounts or pets. The Zoologist because it allows me to identify weaknesses of animal based creatures and allow me to know more information about them. The Engineer profession allows me to be able to make bullets and guns from materials. Owner is chosen because I want to be able to own land and earn from the land that I own, this includes materials other than just gold.
Along with these, I plan to pay for the starter pack which gives me a set of equipment that levels and evolves with me as well as a random item that can either help me a lot of be some junk item.
Alex and I just got done talking about our plans once we get online. The game was going to go online and ready to play for everyone today on June 15, 20XX. Alex was going to be a Demonic Werewolf Orc. Same as my race, I had no idea what the race would look like as the only information that we could find was the name. We decided to meet each other in the Capital of the Shadow faction, Umbrak, once we finished the tutorial as that was where we were going to be sent to.
I walked inside our house and my brother Aaron was watching some show in the TV.
“Hey, are you also going to play that game?” asked Aaron as he got up from the couch and went up to me.
Alex was younger than I was by one year, he was similar to me in appearance except he had crystal blue eyes and since he continued Taekwondo that his body was much more leaner than mine.
“Yeah Alex got me interested in playing it,” I said knowing that he was talking about Arun online.
“Great! Cause I’m playing it too,” said Aaron as joy filled his face. “What faction are you taking?”
“Shadow,” I said smilingly.
“Ok I chose to play as Light before but if you’re going to choose Shadow then I’ll change my race,” said Alex one hand over his mouth as he nodded.
“No you do-”
“I want to, we never hang out like we used to. This way we can hang out for a long time,” he said determinedly.
“Well alright, you can join my party with Alex. We’ll be meeting at the Shadow capital.”
“Alright, It’s always fun with Alex but before I find my new race but class did the two of you choose?”
“Alex chose a cleric while I chose a ranger.”
“Then I’ll stay with my warrior, that way I can tank for you two,” he said as he ran to his room.
I just shrugged and went to my room to sleep and set the alarm to wake me up in two hours.
The alarm sounded and I got up and put on my Omnigear. I turned it on and I started up the game by commanding it, “Omnigear, link Arun Online.”
My vision darkened and I saw the opening scenes of the game. It showed me the five starting classes, all of them humans, as they journeyed and fought this one giant wolf. The warrior took all the damage while the swordsman attacked as much as it could while the attention wasn’t on him. The ranger attacked from afar with his bow and arrows and when he ran out of arrows he changed to use his guns. The cleric kept on healing her allies with light. The magician had all sorts of elements all around him and he kept on mixing them together to make different spells. Right when he mixed all the elements together the scene brightened so much that it blocked my vision.
When the light disappeared I was now looking at an Elf that had wonderful and strong looking armor with a lance behind him as well as a sword on his right hip. This was one of the evolution paths of the swordsman into the lancer. The Elf was travelling in the forest as it was looking for something. After running a while he found a group of Orcs that had axes of different sizes. There were three Orcs that had leather armor on and were walking relaxed.
The Elf made his stance smaller and then ran while thrusting his lance towards the leftmost Orc. When the Elf hit the Orc, the Orc was shocked and the Elf dragged the lance to hit the rest of them killing them instantly. Then Shadows gripped the Elf as a Demon with black skin, red eyes, and two horns wearing black robes with red marks.
The Elf was trapped by Shadow and right beside the Demon out came a Beastman that had was an Anthropomorphic tiger. He wore a silver robe and had a black sword in his hand. This Tigerman was a mystic knight, one of the end game classes. The Tigerman slashed his sword at the elf and then the screen zoomed out into the sky then back into the ground of a different setting.
A Dwarf was climbing a mountain with a strong looking crossbow at his back. He wore leather armor and gloves to make it easier on him to climb. He was dirty and exhausted when he reached the summit and there a Dragon was standing. The Dragon was flying in the air with his wings and he was as tall as a human. The Dragon raised its claws and from it came a giant ray of light that blinded my vision.
Then came the name of the game and the opening scene was over. I logged in using my mind and the account that I had already made and a screen showed saying that I was the first person to log in and so I would get a prize for it.
I was excited at that but since I wouldn’t know what it was until I finished creating my character I decided to set it aside for now.
“What race do you want to be?” asked a mechanical female voice.
Then the seven races appeared in front of me to choose from and I said with a smile, “Demonic Vampire Dragon.”
“Detected sub-race has been chosen. There can only be one of this race are you sure you want to choose this?”
“Yes!” I almost shouted at the thought that I would be the only one of this race.
“Confirmed. Since this is a sub-race information of this race will now be told to the player.”
“The Demonic Vampire Dragon is just like the Dragon race, has the same size of a human. This race is against the Light element. It has reduced stats under sunlight but in darkness it’s stats are increased. This race also has its own skills that only it can use. These skills are the abilities of the Blood Knight as well as the Dread Lord. The consequence is that these skills are weaker than an actual Blood Knight’s or Dread Lord’s”
The Blood Knight and Dread Lord were end game classes of the Warrior and Cleric tree. I was shocked as this was what the game gave me just from choosing this sub-race.
“Gender?” continued the voice.
“Male.”
“Gender Confirmed. Name?”
“Seraphiim.”
“Name confirmed. You will now be sent to the starting area of the Mountain Range of Dark Spires. We hope you enjoy your experience in playing Arun Online.”
“Finally,” I said as the surroundings brightened to nearly enough to blind me and I was excited to begin playing the game the whole night which would equate to 8 days of game time.
