When they were at the palace, Kaylen went to her bedroom to read the tome with the techniques for making magic items. It took her two whole days for her to finish reading it. There were many techniques written in it. It also had paintings of the people who had invented the methods. Most of the pictured people had huge muscles, and most of them had a hammer in their hand. The tome also had techniques of producing non-magic items, but all of those techniques only need power and precision. While the magic techniques required both of those and means of using the mana, ways of creating runes and the essential item for the magic items, the magic cores. It was only for those that had the best education, and resources to spend. The book had emphasized the last in particular. And the other thing was that a magic item was able to be created by every technique, but with a different result. But in the end all those techniques had another thing in common, the magic items had runes on them. It was the pattern that the core used to create the result that the maker wanted. So, in the end, the techniques were there to be used as a guide, but also as a means in creating the magic item.
Kaylen was fascinated by the tome. She wanted to try using one technique for her dagger, but first, she had to find a magic core, learn how to fuse the core in the dagger, and then learn how to write runes on a surface. The book had ways of producing magic cores, but the most common and refined method was using arrays and then high quantities of mana. At least fifty people with high mana levels were needed to execute the magic. And the process could have to last for only ten seconds. But there was another method for creating magic cores, and that was with the corpses of animals. Compressing the corpses together to a point, until there was nothing left, but a red orb.
A maid was cleaning the bedroom when Kaylen finished reading the book. She then asked the maid to put the book to its original place. The maid then asked her to stay in the room, until she had cleaned it. After that, the maid tried to lift the book with the thousand pages. But she couldn't, the book was at least a hundred kilos. The maid asked for some help from Kaylen, and then both left the room and went to the study room of the king. The maid knocked on the door a couple of times. After a few seconds, the kind told them to come in. The maid went in first, and Kaylen followed.
"Hello, Kaylen! I haven't seen you for some days now. How are you doing? What do you have there?" Said the king, his had bloodshot eyes from the lack of sleep. Papers were everywhere on his desk. Bookshelves were everywhere, with big and small books.
"I was reading this book." She showed him the book and continued. "Alica gave it to me because I wanted to learn how to produce magic items. The details on the techniques written in the book were extraordinary." Kaylen kept speaking about the book, and Virion listened attentively. He was happy to hear that someone had read a book. Virion liked reading books, and especially old ones. Kaylen kept speaking about the book for at least an hour. And Virion kept on listening. He even exchanged some points of view with her. Overall, it was a healthy conversation about a book that both liked. No hidden agendas, no secret stuff, just pure exchange of views. Most people could envy Kaylen for speaking with the king so casually. When they finished talking about the book, Virion asked her to put the book on one of the bookshelves.
"You can come from here whenever you want. I will welcome you with open arms in my study room. And if you want to read more books, ask one of the maids. But now, I have work to do, and I already am an hour late. We will see each other again at the dinner." Said Virion and went back to his desk chair.
Kaylen and the maid left the study room, and Kaylen asked her where to find Alica. The maid said that Alica was taking a bath. They went to the bathroom, and then the maid left. Kaylen opened the door and went inside. She found Alica reading a book while she was in the water. The book was floating above her head, while Alica was reading it. Kaylen unclothed herself and joined in. Alica looked at her but said nothing.
"So, how was your day?" Ask Kaylen. "Not much, I didn't have to do anything really, expect to help my father a little with his paperwork. There wasn't something exciting to do while you were reading the book that I gave you. I hope you learned something from it." Said Alica, although she has a hint of sadness while she spoke. But she didn't want to blame Kaylen for not having fun. Well, Kaylen had nothing to do with it. But Alica blamed her a little bit for leaving her alone for those couple of days. "The book was great. I learn a lot from it, but I have to try myself the teaching to see if the techniques truly work like how the book said."

"But of course you have to try them first and see and learn. Experience and repetitions are the keys to learning something. The books are there for guidance, and everything else is on the reader." This time, her voice had a hint of happiness, bot because she had finally spoken with Kaylen, but because she was teaching her something new. She liked that very much, and Kaylen, but the first a little more. As to why she genuinely loved Kaylen, she didn't know. The only thing she knew was that she liked to talk with Kaylen. They stayed in the bathroom for two more hours until they had to leave because the runes for the heating the water run out of mana. In those two hours, they hadn't spoken much, but they were both happy to finally meet each other again and talk for some time.
"So, I have talked with Molonym for the training, and he said he yes. You have to tell him just when you are ready to start. He always trains with my mother first thing in the morning. And in the afternoon he is mostly free." She gave a little pause to think what to say next and then said. "Nevermind, let's go now and tell him that you are free. He will be happy to train you, I'm sure of it!"
They went to the basement of the palace. Renna was there, reading a book, while she was in a lotus position on a green colored array on the stone floor. Molonym was there too, but he was feeding mana to the array. He was mentally exhausted, with sweat running from his forehead down to his chin, but he said nothing or showed any discomfort. Kaylen and Alica waited for half an hour for Renna to speak. "Okay Molonym, that is enough for today." And then she faced Kaylen and Alica. "So, what do you want here?" She asked with a smile on her face. "We want to ask if Molonym has some free time to train Kaylen with the dagger." Said Alica, from behind Renna, Molonym moved very fast on his feet when he heard that. "Yes, he has free time now. Molonym, can you train Kaylen with the dagger?" Renna asked him. Molonym nodded enthusiastically to Renna's back. Then he faced palmed himself and said. "Yes, my queen. I have free time to train Kaylen on how to use the dagger."
"Good, you can go to the backyard and train until dinner is ready," Renna said and left the basement. The three of them then went to the backyard of the palace. Alica had the book she has reading from before, and Molonym had a box full of wooden daggers in his hands. Molonym placed the box on the ground and threw a wooden dagger at Kaylen. He then said. "I want you to attack me with your full strength."
Kaylen did just that. She attacked him with full power. The attack as fast, but Molonym was able to block it. "Good," Molonym said. "Keep attacking me. I will attack you when I see an opening on your movement." Kaylen kept on attacking until she got hit by Molonym to her hip, but he said nothing. Kaylen struck again, but this time she was ready for an attack from Molonym. Her skill Future Probabilities of Combat Projections wasn't able to pick up when Molonym could attack. The signal it gave was like the static from an old tv, but it wasn't unpleasant for Kaylen. They kept training until a maid told them to come and eat.
They ate and then they all went to there bedroom, expect for Kaylen and Alica. "Okay, I will clear with you Kaylen. I didn't like about how you didn't speak to me for two days. And I would like for that to never happened again. It made me sad, although I know that you like to learn new things, that doesn't mean that you don't have to talk to me. I like when we are the two of us doing something, or being together. That's what I wanted to tell you." And she stopped, she took a big breath, held the air for a few seconds and then she exhaled. "It felt like a weight leaving from my back. Hmm, that feels nice."
"I'm sorry, I didn't know that. It will never happen again, I promise. I was just too excited about the book, that was all, but again, I'm sorry." It was a genuine apology from Kaylens. Because of the wisdom stat, she now had some logic and feelings. And she felt regretful about that. She hadn't expected something like that to happen. And she vowed to herself to never do that again, or make Alica sad.
"It's okay. I'm happy that we were able to clear this out. Hug attack!" She said and hoped to Kaylens arms. Both had a small on their faces. "Now let's go to sleep. We will see each other tomorrow!"
They both then left and went to their respected bedrooms.
