CHAPTER 10 : MONSTER FIGHT

Gorden gripped his spear as he made his way in the direction of the fuss. Just after exiting he was soon spotted by Gary 5, who was coming straight for him..

“What’s the situation?”(Gorden)

“Everybody’s within the base and are being directed inside the tunnel. I sent out a couple of scouts ahead, I don’t know what this thing is Gorden, I haven’t heard anything like this.” (Gary 5)

Gorden just nodded his head as they continued to run in the direction of the sound.

‘Could this be a new monster? But why now? Where did it come from?... Too many questions for now.’ (Gorden)

They kept pace for 10 minutes, now deeper in the Forest they were entering into the more dangerous area.

“ Soon we will pass the areas I’ve hunted soon, we will be in unknown territory up ahead so watch out.”(Gary 5)

Gorden had been training and leveling up ever since his arrival, he had quite the confidence in his strength, but he still took heed of 5’s warning.

‘Though he’s just a hunter, he’s right that I should be careful and not become arrogant. I may be a clone but I still don’t want to die easily.’

Suddenly rustling sounds came from above their heads and three blurs jumped down at him. Gorden, caught off guard at first let instinct take over and readied his spear, positioning himself into a defensive posture.

“Woah calm down buckaroo, is just us” (Scout Gary 1)

“ If we wanted to attack you, you would’ve already been dead” ( Scout Gary 2)

“....” (scout Gary 3)

“It’s alright Gorden they’re the scout team, Report!.” (Gary 5)

“Yes, the monster is a large avian type monster. Ranging about 2 stories high, though it is slow it is heading in our direction. I say we have about 2 minutes till confrontation.” ( scout 1)

“ What are it’s battle capabilities?”(Gorden)

“ We didn't dare approach,though it has wings it doesn’t fly. It is an unknown enemy.(Scout 1)

“We could have killed it if you just let me at him! Bunch of cowards.”(scout 2)

“Your orders were to only scout and don’t forget cocky get’s you killed.” (Gary 5)

“ Hmm though it is wise to not fight such an unknown power, we will have to. It is heading for the camp ” (Gorden)

“Alright, scout 3 go back and relay the information. Ask them to send some mages out and have them meet me east, use the rest to defend in case we fail. The rest of us will fight and lure it there for an ambush, Understood? Good move out!” (Gorden)

After scout 3 split, the rest got into formation. Gorden and 5 took the vanguard position while the scouts hid themselves away ready to strike.

{Gaaarruuhh}

“It’s getting closer, any minute now!”(Gary 5)

“ If any of you have AP’s left you better use them now, too late when you’re dead!.” (Gorden)

‘Though I’ve think I’ve used them all so far, best to check. ’(Gorden)

“Ha ha, one left...guess I better take my own advice.” (Gorden)

[Spearmanship has leveled up!]

“Alright that’s all I can do, I hope this will be enough.”

{GAARRRUUHH}

“ATTACK!” (Gorden)

The monster barged through the trees and bushes, easily knocking everything before down like dominos. This beast..no monster was the correct term was massive. It was only two stories in the report but up close it might have as well been a mountain.

But that wasn’t going to stop the first defense unit of the GARY ARMY!

Gorden lunged out ahead and swung his spear at the beast's feet, managing to hurt it enough to stop it in its track. The monster turned its head at the mere insect that dared to attack, it found a small being holding a flimsy stick. The monster retaliated by striking down with its beak at the insect.

However the insect dodged the powerful blow, resulting in the beak lodged into the ground. At this opportunity the scouts took advantage and fired off their own attack. Each of them wielding a poisoned fang dagger the three slashed at the monsters flesh and quickly retreated back into formation. Not just hoping to wait for the poison to work, 5 dealt damage with a hunting axe, creating a large gash in the side of the monster.

Unfortunately before another attack was done the creature removed its beak, furious and ready to fight it charged straight ahead at the team. The group was quick to jump out of the way but this also opened up a path straight to the camp.

‘Damn, I thought we had him. Guess we cant be that lucky.’

“Hey you sorry excuse for a monster! You think you can just run away? Are you some sort of chicken?” (Gorden)

Whether or not the monster actually understood the provocation or it was perhaps the [Taunt] he used, the monster suddenly doing a 360 now aimed its charged at

Gorden.

“Alright boys meet you back at the base!” (Gorden)

And so the monster and man ran through the forest like a cat and mouse, but in reality it was more like a mouse leading the lamb to the slaughter. I don’t know I’m not good with this, the point is the ‘Gorden’ is bringing the monster to a trap, okay? Good.

“Huff puff, damn should have used that last point for [Basic Stamina]”

‘I’m getting close to the ambush location, this would have been easy If I could go straight towards it.’ (Gorden)

To give enough time for 5 and the others Gorden took a detour, this of course made his job tougher and was on the verge of running out of energy.

‘That’s it! I’ll have to use the rest of my stamina to get out in time, here it goes!’

Gordon activated his run skill and greatly increased in speed creating a large gap between them. He reached the ambush clearing and could see the Gary Mages ready to fire off their spell [Fireball] as they are fire mages.

“FIRE IT’S RIGHT BEHIND ME!” Gorden shouted and dives behind the fire mages collapsing onto the floor.

Three fireballs shot out of the fire mages' staff directly at the monster engulfing it in an explosion of flame and fire, the heat was intense as Gorden was sweating from it a decent distance away.

‘Ahh that should do it, nothing could withstand-’

But Gordens thought didn’t get to finish as the supposedly dead monster was standing perfectly fine, amongst the dying flames.

“W-What?!” (Fire-mob Mage 1)

“How can it survive that?!” (Fire-mob Mage 2)

“Wait..this feeling...it is using mana?” (Fire-mob Mage 3)

“A monster using mana? Gunters going to have a field day with this” (Fire-mob Mage 1)

“ Can’t you use a different spell?! “ (Gorden)

“That’s all we know” (Fire-mob Mage 2)

“Besides we’ve used all our mana” (Fire-mob Mage 1)

“Damn, we should have just finished it off back there!” Gordon cursed as he stood back up and gripped his spear.

“I’ll have to hold him off..somehow. You guys need to inform Original about the danger, I should be able to buy you a minute at least.” (Gorden)

“Aren’t you forgetting about us?” (Gary 5)

Standing before him with his ‘old’ team, 5 and the scouts,with so much confidence they looked ready to go against the world itself.

“B-But I told you to go back” (Gorden)

“Ha ha and who gave you the right to order us?” (Scout gary 1)

“It’s not like I wanted to help, I can’t let you hog all that exp!” (Scout Gary 2)

“...Ohana..” (Scout Gary 3)

A single tear rolled down Gordens face and a smile to match.

‘These guys…’

“So leave it to us, relying on each other, that’s what friends are for.” 5 gave one last smile and turned to face the menace, seeing his wide back the only word to describe is..

‘Reliable’

Five held his Axe in both hands and charged forward activating his [leap] skill and jumping into the air, he aimed for the head of the monster.

However during the heartwarming talk between brothers the Monster wasn’t idling, it was diverting its mana into another spell, which it released as a last ditch attempt to survive.

{Fwash!}

An axe striking flesh and a blinding white light was the last thing everyone saw till their eyes recovered from the monster's spell. The mages were the first to be able to see, what they did see though was gary 5 and the scouts collapsed on the battle ground, still breathing and the monster running in the opposite direction. Though it left behind a bloody souvenir for them.

Fire mage 1 ran over to Gary 5 to check for injuries, there were some bruises and wounds that will leave scars but nothing life threatening.

‘Sigh...thank Gary he’s alright, but what was that light?’ (Fire Mage 1)

At that moment Gary 5 stirred awake and looked up at him.

“ That was quite the fight there, you managed to scare him off good!” (Fire Mage 1)

“........”

“..Who are you?” (Gary 5)
