He woke up lying on a cold stone slab. Which was odd, because he didn't remember ever going to sleep. This brought on a feeling of deep consternation, because it caused other questions to rise to the the surface. He didn't know where he was. He didn't know who he was.
His hands came up to push the sheet off, and found only air. he swung his legs off the slab, and found only the cold stone beneath his feet. Blindly, he reached out and groped about for the bedside (slabside?) table. He found it, and moments later his questing fingers found the circlet he had left on it: the one that granted sight to his blind eyes. He fit it to his head, and looked around.
Well, he tried to look around, but it was a bit hard to see with no light. Tapping the circlet, he switched to seeing heat instead of light. It was a mode useful in the dark caves of the world, less so on the surface, and disorienting to one not used to the change. The floor and walls swam into view in the deep-blue tones of unheated stone. He looked down at his hands and feet, wondering why he didn't feel any clothing on his body.
His hands started to shake as he realized exactly what he was looking at, what he had become. Memories flooded back into his skull. His jaw fell open, but no noise came out when he tried to scream.

Back at the tower, Afila Cencin studied the Teleportation circle. It was a permanent fixture, runes set into the stone floor, unlike the rough circle that Mul had used. "It all looks right, as far as I can tell. The only question is where we're going first."

Lady SiDabolo flicked a dismissive hand, "Trebor, of course! This is going to be my first birthday away from my tower in far too long, and I'm not going to miss the party Aris is throwing!"
Mul tugged at her serviceable shirt, "no offence, but if its a party, then we could use some party clothing..."
Aflia nodded in agreement, "And Elci's in Chedal is still the best place I know of for clothes shopping. Might not have the panache of some of the places in Sapphire, but I know Elci, and she always has a good selection of clothing for unusual body-shapes."
Lady SiDabolo tapped her chin, "I'm not familiar with Chedal off the top of my head. Does it have a Teleportation Circle?"
Aflia flexed her wings, "I'm not sure. The Althiem troops had to set one up when they were dealing with the orcs in the area, no offence Mul, and it should still be up. If not, there may be one at the Chedal Guild House, but we'd have to check with the local Guild office for the combination."
Lady SiDabolo flicked a dismissive hand, "If there is a Guild house in Chedal, then I know the combination for its Teleportation Circle. They based their design off of the one here, with my help, so they are all networked together with self-assigning rune combinations based on their geographic location. Give me five moments with a map and diviner’s bowl and we'll be good to go."
