A few days have past and we both have recovered. After what happened, Stella agreed I should learn to defend myself.
Agilain even agreed to teach me magic, Stella was a great teacher herself, but with the one who has been teaching her is teaching me im sure ill be able to learn all sorts of spells.
“I guess first thing to do is to make sure your safe here” Agilain said.
“Yeah, thats a good idea” Stella says. “But what should we do?”
“Well the best solution would be to make her look like a normal human”
“And how do we do that?” She responded.
“Thats simple, well not simple but it should work”
“And that is?”
“Illusion magic should do the trick” He said.
I look over at Stella to a shocked face. It was like what he said was something insane.
“What! You can do illusion magic?” She shouted surprised.
“Uh, is that a big deal?” I decided to enter the conversation.
“A very big one, that magic is one of the top tier magic!” She said to me.
“Really? It doesn’t sound like a very powerful type of magic” In games, you only really used that magic to trick others.
“Illusion magic is a magic that can manipulate reality its self, even if its the lowest tier of that magic. Its still very hard to even use, or master for all that” She was fangirling over this. Guess it really must be powerful if it can manipulate reality its self.
Agilian was just watching this happen with a somewhat confused face not knowing how to react to this.
“Now that we’re done with that, I’m going to use it to change your appearance a bit. Your ears and hair color to be safe” He said to me as he walks up to me. It got quiet as he walked up to me.
He put his hand on my forehead, closed his eyes, and would start to chant. The words he spoke, I couldn’t understand them, Stella also didn’t seem to understand it based at her bewildered face.
My body would glow and my face would light up. I couldn’t really see if there were any changes as it was on my face. He would stop chanting and let go.
“There we go, you now look like a normal human” He said as he showed me a mirror.
I got a look at my new look, regular ears and black hair. It reminded me of my old self. My face didn’t look that much the same but the black hair did. I couldn’t contain my tears and a few escape, dripping down my cheeks.
“Huh, are you ok Ariana?” Stella would ask concerned.
“Yeah… I am, I don’ know why I cried” It was best to not tell her im from another world. I don’t want more drama or confusion.
“Well now that that’s done, I guess you’re my new student. This will be interesting id say”
Next day
We would get up and get ready, Stella and I would eat breakfast and wash up. We then head out to Agilians place. I was nervous walking outside now due to what happened with the knight, but with Stella right next to me I felt better.
Stella’s plan was to learn magic from Agilian for a year, then go to the magic academia in her kingdom. Now the plans are the same, but now there’s just me added into it. I did feel like I was just a weight holding her back. So that just means I just need to try my hardest to keep up with her.
Sara would also visit use a few days at a time and play with me. I didn’t have very many friends in my old world. Scratch that, I don’t think I had any friends. I was able to make a few friends, but could never keep them for very long. I guess I was just too much work.
We made it to Agilians place and greeted him.
“Are you two ready?” He asked.
“Yep”
“Yes sir”
“Good, I got a surprise for you Ariana” He said.
“Huh?” I tilted my head confused.
We walked into his study and he handed me something. It was a wand… A Wand!
“Is this a…” I would stumble a bit.
The wand was made out of some kind of wood that was dark brown, and it had a crimson gem in the middle of it.
“Yes its a wand, it is a training wand so its not something super special but I thought you should ha-” I would hug him, I didnt know why I acted this way. Maybe it was because someone like me was able to get something others from my world could only dream about.
“Uh…” He didnt know how to respond to me hugging him. “You know a thank you would work right?”
“I know, I could, but for some reason, I couldnt contain myself” I said to him cheerfully. Tears dripping down my face.
He would just smile. “I understand” He says. “Now, we must test you so I know what level you are at. We will use you wand there to test your magic abilities.”
“How do we do that?” I ask.
“Follow me out back with your wand and ill show you” He said, we would all head out back to a testing area.
“Now wands are tools for mages, they make it easier and more efficient to cast spells. But you can also have premade spells put into the wand to use fastly. The gem is the core of the wand that sores the spells and magic put into it. All you have to do to activate the spell is to think the name of the spell and pour your magic into the wand”
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
“I have a few spell put in the wand to get you used to combat magic. What I want you to do is to point the wand at the test dummy and think or say fire flare and pour your magic into the wand while you think the spell is set to take 50% of your mana so I can determine your magic capabilities” He explained.
“Ok, ill try” I would say a bit nervous.
I would point my wand at the straw dummy and take a deep breath. “Ok…” Fire flare! I screamed out in my mind, I would focus and have my energy flow into the wand. The wand was taking so much of it and was drain me. A large fire ball formed at the tip of the wand, it looked like it could almost be a small sun. The ball of fire was multiple times bigger than a basketball. I would then fire it at the dummy, the dummy was turned into ash as it got hit. The fire ball exploded on impact and caused a gust of warn wind to blow around.
“Wow… I didnt t-think I could do that” I said lost for words.
“Thats was a decent fire flare, about a C rank id say”
“Oh… a C ran-” My body would start to feel heavy as my version started to blurr. What was happening.
“Are you ok?” Stella would ask.
A crimson red arua would burst around me, it felt like the mana I used was rushing back, but was rushing back too fast. I felt pain all over my body and let out a scream of pain. I was terrified of what was happening as I was confused.
“Ariana!” Stella would run over to me and catch me as I collapsed. I would black out as I heard Stella and Agilian calling out to me.
I would wake up in a bed, I had a rag over my forehead, I took it off and sat up.
“You're alright!” Stella would hug me out of nowhere.
“Yep… So uh, what happened?” I asked her, confused about what happened.
“Mana overflow” Agilian said, walking in the room.
“Mana overflow?” I said, confused.
“It's a condition that makes your mana restore faster than it should and overflow. The more mana you use, the stronger it comes back”
“Is there a way to handle it?” I asked.
“It's a tricky thing to handle as it basically matches your strength so its hard to just get strong enough for it not to affect you”
“Oh…”
“But there are a few things you can do to still use magic”
“Like what?”
“You could slowly store mana in your wand so it doesn't trigger it. Also you should be fine as long as you don't use more than a quarter of your mana at a time. But don't worry, don't let this get you down. Just think of it like this, you almost will ever run out of mana”
“That's one way to think of it”
“Your wand is a B ranked one, so it can hold more than enough for you” He said.
I was very demotivated by this as it reminded me of my old life. I would have to try twice as hard as others to just get good grades. I started having less free time due to having to always study just so I could get a A.
Now it seems like this is the same thing, did she give me this? She did say I was her entertainment, did she want me to struggle? She gave me the Sage skill that's good with magic to give me a skill that makes it hard to use magic.
Are you doing this and just laughing at my struggles? “I'm doing this for my entertainment” I would remember her saying to me. She must be crazy or something. I've been thrown in a new world and badly injured by a guy with white hair–
“Are you ok?” Stella would ask me, snapping me out of it.
“Oh… uh yeah” I said. I realized it wasn't all too bad, I got a friend, that's more friends than I had in my old world… Well, isn't that sad.
I guess ill just do what I can here, it's not like I care about getting super strong. I could use this Sage skill to do other things, not just magic.
Two weeks later
Me and Stella have been training and learning all about magic. Stella of course was working on more advanced stuff while I was still learning some of the basics.
I would take a break and sit down.
Even with this Sage skill, there was still a lot to learn, but it did help a lot. I don't think I would be able to memorize all this stuff without it.
At the moment I know a few attack spells like fire magic, some earth magic and some water magic. Well if you consider shooting water like a water gun attack magic.
I've also been trying to learn healing magic on the side, but that magic is way too complicated for me to understand at the moment. So ill just wait on that.
Stella has been making a whole lot more progress, not much of a surprise there… I'm still trying my hardest just to keep up in this world it seems, or it's because she's on a different level than others.
You know I thought I'd be a bit more special than this due to the fact I was basically summoned here, and hatched from a giant egg. All those lucky people in those shows get all these super overpowered abilities while I get one that's good, but the other one basically renders it useless.
Oh well, just push through this like I always did.
I would get up now motivated by myself.
Wait if I want to get stronger, why don't I just do some guild missions. Maybe Stella would like to get real experience?
I would finish my training and then talk to Stella about it.
“Guild quest? Hmm I guess using my magic in a real scenario would help. But we should ask Agilian first as he's more experienced with this kind of stuff” She answered.
“Ok!”
We would ask Agilian about doing a guild quest.
“Guild quest? I guess that would get you two experience, but I recommend an easy quest. Even lower than what both your ranks are. A F rank quests should work for you two” He said.
“Are you sure? I am an A rank Mage, and Ariana is a C rank” Stella says.
“That may be so, but you two have no combat experience, so might as well count you two as a F rank till you got some. I want you two to pick out an adventurer to make sure you're safe just in case” He said.
What he said did make sense but wasn't he being a little too overprotective?
“Ok, we will pick up a F rank quest and hire an adventurer” I would say before Stella could say something. She did have a bit of pride, even if she was an understanding person.
This could be a chance to earn my own money. I did learn a bit how currency worked in this world, it wasn't too hard to figure out.
It goes small copper, medium copper and large copper coins. Then small silver medium silver large silver coin, and last small to gold, medium gold and large gold coin.
After talking this out, we would head to the adventures guild to sign up.
“Welcome to the guild” We were welcomed in.
We walk up to the table and fill out the registration form to join the guild. We then look at the wall with all the quests.
“Something easy, something easy” I repeated over and over again while looking.
There were some easy ones? Like hunting wolves and goblins… Maybe its best if we stay away from the goblin quest.
We ended up choosing the goblin quest, thanks Stella…
Now we need to find some party members, we would put out a request for anyone with experience and a C rank or above. We would call it a day and head back to the inn and come back tomorrow.
We headed back to the guild to check if anyone accepted our request and surprise, only one did. What, how are we supposed to do a quest with only three people, that's not a full party! Oh well, I guess they should do it for now, it says they are a B rank so that's really good. Goblin quests are only F-C Rank quests so this might be overdoing it.
We would meet with them at one of the tables in the guild. We would wait for them to show up.
They would walk up to the table, they were a man with short brown hair, and brown eyes. They had light armor that mostly only covered his chest and lightly covered other places. He seemed to have leather cover up most of his body to help with protection.
“Hi there, im Jonas a B Rank adventurer” He would say to us.
