The Dark Knight of Vengeance

The Dark Knight of Vengeance

(back story)

There was a holy knight, once a proud and loyal defender of the empire, sworn to protect the princess at all costs. She was the kingdom's light, known for her kindness and compassion, especially towards the common folk. But tragedy struck one fateful day when the princess was found dead in her chambers. The empire declared it a suicide, but the holy knight could not believe it.

The holy knight stood alone in the dimly lit chamber where the princess's lifeless body lay. His eyes, wide with disbelief, scanned the room for answers. He approached her, his hand trembling as he reached out to touch her cold skin.

"How could this be a mere suicide?" he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. He could see the bruises on her neck and wrists, the faint signs of a struggle. "No," he growled, clenching his fists, "the princess was brutally murdered by someone!"

The words echoed through the silent room, filled with rage and sorrow. The holy knight's mind raced, piecing together the fragments of a dark puzzle. His grief quickly turned to anger. He had failed in his duty to protect her. With a heavy heart and a burning desire for justice, he vowed to find the culprit, no matter the cost.

Days turned into weeks as the holy knight embarked on a journey across the kingdom. He spoke to anyone who might have seen or heard anything, but his search yielded nothing but dead ends. Frustration gnawed at him, yet he pressed on, determined to uncover the truth.

Late one night, as the holy knight wandered the darkened corridors of the castle, he overheard hushed voices coming from the grand hall. Curious and suspicious, he crept closer, keeping to the shadows, his ears straining to catch the conversation.

"Thank the gods she's gone," one noble muttered. "Her kindness was becoming a real problem."

Another noble chuckled darkly. "Indeed. Her compassion for the commoners was starting to turn the people against us. She was making us look like tyrants."

A third voice, colder and more sinister, whispered, "We couldn't allow her to undermine our authority. The plan to make it look like a suicide was perfect. No one will ever suspect the truth."

The holy knight's heart pounded in his chest as he listened, his mind reeling from what he was hearing. His worst fears were confirmed: the kingdom's leaders had conspired to kill the princess because they feared her kindness and influence.

"They all think she took her own life," the first noble continued, laughing. "What a fool she was to think her goodness would change anything in this rotten place."

Unable to contain his rage, the holy knight stepped back into the shadows, his fists clenched tightly at his sides. His loyalty to the kingdom was shattered. The people he had sworn to serve and protect had betrayed the princess, the one person he cared for more than anything.

"They will pay for this," he whispered to himself, fury boiling within him. "Every single one of them."

Determined to avenge the princess's death, the holy knight sought out the darkest forces he could find. He ventured into the forbidden lands and made a pact with the demon army, offering his sword and his soul in exchange for the power to destroy those who had wronged her.

He returned to the kingdom, no longer the righteous defender he once was. Consumed by vengeance, he systematically hunted down each of the nobles who had plotted against the princess. One by one, they fell to his blade, their cries for mercy ignored.

The holy knight's once pure heart was now filled with darkness and vengeance. He cast aside his gleaming armor and donned the dark robes of an avenger. He was no longer the empire's champion; he was a force of reckoning, a harbinger of death. Seeking power to carry out his retribution, he turned to the demon army, creatures of darkness who thrived on chaos and destruction.

With the demons by his side, he unleashed havoc upon the land of dawn. For a decade, his wrath knew no bounds. Villages were burned to the ground, castles were reduced to rubble, and rivers ran red with the blood of those who dared to resist. The once holy knight, now known as the Dark Knight, became a terrifying legend. His name was spoken in hushed tones throughout the kingdom, a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of betrayal.

After a decade's a person from an other world reincarnated into this world.
