Before Curtis came over in the evening I spent the rest of the afternoon studying minor spells I still don’t understand why there called Petty Spells by others. I opened a book called “Collection of the most versatile Petty Spells” by Frio Schuttler. I remembered mom telling me that he was a sort of famous road warden. Soon I got enlightened how simple spells like Sounds, Spring, Light and Shock make for a deadly trap with creative use explained in the book. I got engrossed in the uses explained in the book till Curtis came over to teach me English.
We sat down at my table while I casted Marsh Lights spell as it was evening. I told Curtis briefly “I will dispel my own translation spell, it will be hard for me to understand you I hope you will be patient with me”, “Don’t worry I was a teacher before” he said smiling at me. We started with writing every latter in the Alphabet once and then slowly pronouncing them. Took me two hours to be able to write the letters into something that looked somewhat readable, I was so ashamed of how my writing looked and it wasn’t pretty “I’m going to make it better” I swore to myself as we ended the English lesson for today.
For the following 3 weeks I had a routine of waking up early, bathroom activities, eating going to practice with the other mages and learning English. I was having trouble with pronouncing till Marcus decided to teach me the Alphabet song. That song made it so much easier and enjoyable for me, a week later I barely had trouble with pronouncing letters again. A month quickly passed as I kept practicing the alphabet, in April I was beginning to learn more words and how to speak properly by conversing with others it was a lot more fun than just learning the alphabet. Sadly the fun part only lasted an hour a day then I was trying to learn to read with the help of others, then we always have a chat about clothing styles with some new friends I’ve made. The last 5 minute of my English lessons I’m always asked what the text I was reading before is about. I still don’t understand why but from what others told me it help improve memory.

I was more or less proficient in speaking/read and writing in English by September 1945. Because I needed to learn more about the world to integrate beter we went to Brentano’s again to get more books, but I didn’t find any good leisure books. But we found books about most things I wanted, on the way I was explained about how important money in the world is. I asked if there are job’s I could do with my “unique talents” but they kept telling me about job’s like clerk in a store, maid and other things that I didn’t want to do. So I decided after I’m done learning I’m leaving to explore then world.
I studied really hard and by November I believed that my English and basic knowledge are good for someone my age. I headed outside into the woods near Kamar-Taj to practice fighting, something I haven't done in a while now and was worried that I'm getting rusty. Starting from basic movement by jumping from tree to tree without causing them any damage and doing so silently and later stalking some wild life without getting noticed. I kept practicing every week when I had spare time by 19th of January 1946 I was more confident in myself so I took a few days to relax before heading out into the world to explore.
