Chapter 12: Truth

How did you know about your own Giyas?”

“From Old Lady Vega,” Otto answered.

“I also knew about Ate Gaie through Lola Vega,” Lae said. “Zaine, you learned yours from Lola Vega too, right?”

Zaine nodded his head.

“I think all of us here learned about our Giyas from Vega,” Otto stated.

“Except for me!” Calla corrected.

Otto, then, realized something, “Oh, right! I almost forgot about you, Calla.”

Curious, Triggs asked, “Where did you learn yours, Calla?”

“From my family,” Calla answered.

“Really? Wow! It must be nice to have a family who are also open to this kind of practice,” Triggs said.

“Ah… Eh… Maybe? Hehe…” Calla’s response. She changed the topic,

“Anyway!...... I learned more about Ate Panee when Lola Vega recruited me. Even though I already knew how to use Words when I was younger, Lola Vega taught me how to use them properly.”

“Oh… I see…”

Calla narrated,

“Lola Vega said Ate Panee Herself told her to invite me. That's why I trusted her and joined this group.”

“That’s also what happened to me,” Otto added.

He also narrated,

“When I first met Vega, she said my Giya instructed her to meet me. I had no idea about this stuff back then - I was very skeptical. But when she started revealing details about my past by just looking at my palm, I became curious, so I joined the group.”

“That’s also true for me,” Lae said. She explained,

“She convinced me by telling me something about my past - I thought she was an oracle. However, she later disclosed that it was my Giya, Ate Gaie, who provided her with the information about me.”

“I think that’s also what happened with Zaine, right?” Calla asked.

Zaine nodded his head.

“Lola Vega told us that we were not recruited randomly; it was arranged by our Giyas,” Lae stated.

She added, “Apparently, before we joined this group, our Giyas already knew each other.”

“In short, our Giyas are friends with one another!” Calla said.

Lae affirmed,

“Lola Vega mentioned that our Giyas are part of a particular group. And that’s the reason why they want us, their Favored, to be gathered in one group as well.”

“I get it. So these Beings also form their groups, huh?” Triggs uttered.

“Of course!” Calla replied. “They’re like us. They also need friends.”

“I see…” Triggs murmured.

“If you were gathered here because your Giyas know each other… Then, they might also know about my Giya?”

“I knew you would ask that question,” Lae replied. “It’s possible. But only Lola Vega can give us the right answer.”

“That’s right! That’s right! Why don’t we ask Lola Vega about your Giya, Triggs?” Calla suggested.

“Can I? I mean… She might be busy or something…”

“Naaah!!” Calla uttered as she pulled Triggs’ arm. “Let’s go ask her!”

Calla accompanied Triggs to the hallway and into the Main Room where Vega was.

“Hi, Lola Vega!”

“Oh hello, Darling,” Vega greeted Calla.

She looked at Triggs and asked,

“So, how’s your stay here, Lad? Are you enjoying it?”

“Fine… I guess? Well… I learned lots of things again,” Triggs answered.

“That’s good to hear!” Vega replied. “What brought you here, youngsters?”

“Lola Vega! Triggs wants to ask you something!” Calla uttered. “Go Triggs! Ask her now.”

Stolen novel; please report.

“Uhm… okay,” Triggs murmured. “Lola Vega, I just want to know if - maybe - you can tell me about my Giya.”

“Your Giya, huh?” Vega mumbled. “Well… I need to ask first… Are you ready?”

“I think so.”

“Hmm… Okay.”

Vega stood from her seat and walked closer to Triggs.

“If you really want to know it, then you need to follow what I’m going to say, okay?”

“Okay!” Triggs’ passionate reply.

“First… Close your eyes.”

Triggs followed Vega’s command; he shut his eyes off.

“Next, breathe deeply 7 times.”

Triggs followed.

“Stretch your arms forward.”

“Okay…”

“Spread your legs a lil bit, and squat a little.”

“Uhm… okay?”

“Now, stick your tongue out.”

Triggs was starting to doubt, but he followed the instructions anyway.

“Breathe again 7 times, now, using your mouth.”

“Wait!? Is that necessary!?”

“Naaah! I’m just pranking you. Hahaha!” Vega said as she chuckled. “You can open your eyes now.”

“The heck?” Triggs uttered. “Is there even a sane person in this group?” he thought.

“Come on, Lad! Don’t be so serious. I mean… I did that to everyone here,” Vega stated.

“Oh, really?”

“Mi - Mine was worse!” Calla said as she trembled with the wild memory. “She made me stare at her for 5 minutes, and the timer would reset every time I laugh or smile.”

Vega giggled, “Ahh… I still remember that day…” Then she returned to the topic,

“Yeah - about your Giya… I have no idea about it…”

Triggs didn’t expect the answer. “What!? What do you mean?”

“I have no idea about your Giya. I don’t even know if you have one.”

“Huh??... Uhm… Can you ask the other Giyas about it?”

“I already did - even before you first came here. And they’re also not giving straight answers.”

“Uhhh….”

Seeing the reaction of Triggs, Vega asked, “Are you disappointed?”

Triggs couldn’t answer directly, “I just thought that it might be nice to know about my Giya.”

“Why? Is it because of the Words?”

“I mean… It’s cool to have the privilege to use it. But…”

Just before Triggs could complete his sentence, Vega asked with a serious tone,

“Why did you come here in the first place? Is it only because of the Words? Did you come here, expecting that we’ll just teach you magic?”

Triggs was left silent.

“If that’s your expectation, then I think you need to reconsider your decisions. This group is more than just using magic; we’re here to raise consciousness, to help in unveiling the truth.”

“I understand,” Triggs replied. “I also came here with the same mindset. I want to know more, I want to learn more about these things, and I want to use what I learned to help other people.”

Triggs’ reply made Vega smile.

“Then you need to start working. Learn more about yourself,” Vega said. “There are some things that even the Giyas can not answer, and it’s only YOU who can give answers to those questions.”

Triggs nodded his head.

“I may not know it now, but I’ll assure you that I’ll figure it out someday.”

“Now, that’s what I wanted to hear!” Vega’s satisfied response. “And because of that! Your Giya is……”

“Wait!? You knew it all along!?”

“Nah! I’m just kidding! Hahaha!”

“Damn it, Lola!!!”

Vega continued her impish laughter.

“Ha! Anyway!... Calla, why don’t you tour this young lad in our Base? I think he still hasn’t seen the other facilities yet.”

“Okay~” Calla replied. “Come on, Triggs…”

“Are you okay, Triggs?”

Triggs didn’t reply to Calla. He was just staring blankly into the space.

“Are you still thinking about your Giya?” Calla asked.

Triggs finally responded, “Yes… I think I just got too excited about it.”

“Don’t be sad, Triggs.” Calla consoled. “Besides, you’re not the only one who’s like that.”

Triggs suddenly sensed a ray of hope flashing for him. It seemed like the sun shone in Triggs’ face after hearing what Calla said.

“Do you mean there’s also someone else in this group who’s like me? Who doesn’t know about his Giya?”

“Yup!” Calla replied with a smile. “Actually, there are 2 of them: Claire, and Kuya Ezekiel.”

After hearing the names, Triggs tried to remember something,

“‘Claire’? I think I already heard that name.”

“Mmm-hmm! Claire is Zaine’s younger sister.”

“Okay. now I remember.” Triggs uttered. “How about Ezekiel, who is he?”

“Kuya Kiel is the 5th person to join our group. He’s also very smart like you.”

Triggs was flattered by the compliment.

Calla added, “Kuya Kiel can’t use Words in a battle, but he is a very good fighter. In our group, he’s the only one who can match Lola Vega in a duel, and Lola Vega is a very strong fighter too!”

“That’s cool,” Triggs commented. “By the way, where is he now? I don’t think I’ve met him yet.”

“He is currently studying overseas,” Calla answered. “Lola Vega sent him there to learn more about mysticism and other esoteric knowledge.”

“I see…”

“Don’t worry! You’ll meet him soon,” Calla said. “Kuya Kiel comes home every now and then. I think his next return will be this year.”

“I’m looking forward to that! I also want to learn from him. Sounds like he’s a very cool person.”

“Yup! Lola Vega said that Kuya Kiel is a genius. He’s a person with a lot of potential,” Calla stated. “Anyway…. I hope you’re okay now, Triggs.”

“I am now. Thank you, Calla.”

“You’re welcome~”, Calla replied. “By the way! Are you in a hurry? Or are you planning to stay for a while?”

“I’m not in a rush, so I think I’ll stay here for a bit. Why?”

“That’s great!” Calla excitedly exclaimed. “I will show you something. I’m sure you will like it!”

Calla grabbed Triggs’ hand and pulled him as she strode through the hallway.

“Wait! Where are we going!?”

“Inside my room. Hihi~”
