Ray was thrown back by how fast the car was. It went from zero to sixty in four seconds. He found himself quickly speeding onto the unfamiliar roads.
It was impossible to tell where he was going. He was going downhill, though. That much he knew for sure.
He saw that the car was called the K-50 from the convenient screen that showed the car’s status. Unfortunately, he couldn’t understand most of it but he could see that he was going about a hundred kilometers per hour.
The car drove smoothly. Ray just wanted to get as far away as possible from the deathtrap area infested with goblins.
Maybe I can find my way back if I can charge my phone somewhere. . . Ray began thinking once more. He needed his phone for navigation purposes, he didn’t know which part of the backroads he was in. This was still an unfamiliar wasteland to him.
Then, he saw something up ahead. A few shadowy figures lurked in front of him, barely illuminated by his lights. “
Ray didn’t make a mistake this time. He made sure they were goblins before ramming them with his car, not stopping to swerve off the road.
There were two solid thuds as his car connected with the monsters. It barely stopped the car, though. Ray found himself grinning with satisfaction. He knew that he would get a small bit of exp for each goblin he killed.
Wait a second . . . Ray suddenly had a thought. It was a perfect idea. Wouldn’t it be better for me to just?
He suddenly perked up, looking for opportunities to score kills for free. The K-50 could easily run down any goblins, but it was important to target the stronger looking ones. Ray flicked his high beams on, scanning the surroundings for monsters to hunt.
“Bingo,” Ray saw an elite up ahead. It was one of the big ones that had chased him before. He saw it bumbling about nonchalantly, followed by the same three hooded goblins. At least, it seemed like it was the same one from before.
He stomped on the gas pedal. The supercar hummed slightly as Ray felt the thrum of the powerful electric engine. It was incredibly easy. The car responded to him as if it were an extension of his body.
The goblins were conveniently on the country road. Ray could feel the bumps in the uneven ground as he charged straight at them.
They didn’t know what hit them. Ray sent them flying. He felt two solid thuds as he crashed into the group with the K-50. A splatter of guts plastered the windshield.
Damn it, where are the wipers on this car? Ray grumbled to himself as he fiddled with the car’s fancy interface. He found the wipers by pressing a few buttons on the bottom left of the interface, activating them to cleanse his windscreen.
He didn’t achieve the feeling of a level up, though. Ray needed to get this done and go home. There was a need to make sure the job was done.
Ray slowed the car down to a stop. This had to be a lot of exp, just lying there on the ground. He was convinced that he would level from this endeavor.
He parked the car, letting the headlights illuminate the fallen bodies. Ray got out for a quick second to check his kills. He felt confident in his ability to at least evade an injured goblin.

There were two fallen goblins in front of him. There was the hulking elite goblin along with a sidekick hooded goblin on the ground. The other two were nowhere to be seen, but Ray was almost certain that he had hit them as well.
It was sort of hard to tell because of the darkness, but he had to take a chance sometimes.
The goblin elite was twitching. Ray could tell it was barely alive. The hooded one wasn’t moving on the ground, though. He could see where the car rammed them as there was a big dent on the large one’s body. Its stomach was caved inwards, green blood leaking from its mouth in copious amounts.
It was dying.
Ray didn’t have any feelings of remorse or sympathy. He saw only opportunity. There was no need to act rashly. He kept his movements slow and measured. As he crept closer, he could tell that it was barely clothed. The large muscles on its body showed as it flexed, clearly trying to right itself.
This was the time to strike. Ray tensed his body as he got to about ten feet away. There was a lot of EXP to be gained here. He jumped towards the goblin elite with a crazed look on his face. Time seemed to slow while he was airborne. Ray felt the breeze of the night air tickle his skin through his ripped clothes. This was the most alive he’d ever felt.
Ray landed on the neck with a squish.
It was clearly the goblin’s weak spot. A goblin skull, from Ray’s previous experience, was too hard to crack easily. The neck was made of a softer substance.
Ray felt himself level twice as both his feet deeply embedded themselves into the neck. Strength surged into his somewhat tired body, indicating a new set of skill points to be spent.
Two levels! Ray felt his excitement grow. He then shifted his gaze over to the other body on the ground, the smaller hooded one.
It twitched.
Ray’s eyes lit up in eager anticipation. He wanted this kill with a hunger he hadn’t felt before. Ray felt that it would take him over the edge and into a new realm. There was a tiny desperate urge developing in his body that started ever since the fight with the goblins. He noticed the feeling and let it flood through him, sharpening his senses.
The time to kill was now.
Ray stalked over to the monster, quicker than before. He would definitely level up with this kill. It was time to claim his prize. It didn’t take him long to get there.
He took his foot and placed it over its head through the hood. Ray then slammed his foot down on the injured goblin’s skull. There was the sound of a crunch as Ray felt himself level up once more. He felt the beginnings of a level up happen to his body, the action shooting signals into his brain. Then, a strange phenomenon occurred.
Instead of leveling up, Ray felt himself grow tired.
“Status!” Ray shouted, alarmed at this new draining sensation. His eyelids were closing on their own. This was the absolute worst time to fall asleep.
He still hadn’t accounted for the two goblins. They were still in the vicinity.
Luckily, he saw it for a brief moment.

The system had changed. He now had five options in front of him.
His eyelids closed. There was no time left. Ray could no longer see the options. But it no longer mattered. He had to choose.
Limitless Vigor! Ray thought. That was the only thing that could help him. His body had already started failing. He no longer had energy. Ray sprawled onto the path, feeling a lethargy he’d never felt before.
Everything went dark as Ray lost consciousness.
