Topic: Virginia Battle -- Trial of Blood
[–]Vigoro 21.2k points 2 hours ago (10212 children)
Let's consider a few possible realities.
1. The Church of the Dragon takes over the entire world by force (and nobody can stop it) (most likely?). 2. The Church of the Dragon takes over its little chunk of the Eastern seaboard and doesn't expand out (unlikely). 3. Nations of the world all agree to join the Church of the Dragon (unlikely). 4. NATO/comparable organization nukes Basalith and somehow the organization crumbles (extremely unlikely).
In my mind, the only feasible outcome is that COTD takes over the world by force. Note, in reference, the Dragon's speech at Constitution Bestowal (as usual, no video footage):
> "My name...is Bath. And I am your Dragon. I am your God. Many of you have wondered why I have come. I have arrived on Earth to lead you all beyond these stars, beyond this galaxy. Toward something greater than this existence you know. "But of course, you humans are too weak. The paths on this world mostly focus on contemplating the infinity beyond death. These are valid and good paths, and work well in conjunction with the path I myself embody. "The true way is of many paths...and I am the path of the Dragon: the path of self-determination. Mine is a path of physical might and power. Follow me, and you will find peace in advancement and knowledge of your place in the future we will forge together."
Nobody has a clue where the Dragon came from, still. Some people claim he's Satan, though that seems infantile. The Dragon is evidently not some...construct of Earth. His motive for everything is, in his own words, to lead us beyond the Earth. Not by way of an afterlife, but by literally leading us beyond the stars in our night sky.
Faster than light travel, perhaps? Did the Dragon randomly come to Earth to bring new and advanced technologies to our fairly new civilization?
Black and White both have already suggested numerous theories as to the Dragon's origin and purpose. I'm more interested in seeing predictions of what Earth is going to look like in the next year or so, whether that be one of the proposed realities above or one I'm neglecting to include.
With that, discuss.

Honestly, COTD seems like it's going to take over the world no matter what we do, whether we fight or join them. I think the easiest way forward is to probably just join Basalith, but lots of people probably have the same idea and I bet the line to get in is a week long. I can't even afford a plane ticket to get to Virginia, let alone pay for my parents and siblings to join me.
COTD will probably be expanding out soon to other areas, starting new seed-cities. When that happens, we'll be able to join. That's probably when most of the world's population will join.

I wish COTD wasn't so cryptic. The entire place seems shrouded in secrets. We haven't seen any visual footage of the Dragon's human form, nor have we received more than a leaflet's worth of doctrine from the Church and Dragon themselves. The rest seems to be speculation from the two factions, Dusk and Dawn.
The entire thing SOUDNED like a total cult. Then, earlier today, the people of Basalith--who we can assume were all normal people just a few days ago!--ran out of the city and engaged the U.S.'s substantial 50,000 men force. Then, they completely annihilated the U.S. forces.
The Dragon called it a trial of blood! COTD literally is a cult. The question is whether or not we can resist. Tbh I don't think we can. Kind of feels like the end of days/apocalypse so screw you Vigoro for dimissing the idea that the Dragon actually is Satan.

Why are people ignoring the fact the dragon has solved all of humanity's problems?
Energy. Clean air. Clean water. Shelter. In Basalith, food, access to water, equal opportunity, illness and disease, theoretically aging based on the reward boon this morning.
The dragon is the earth's salvation no?
[–]keplerror 270 points 50 minutes ago (370 children)
I agree that scenario 1 is the most likely outcome. I also agree that it's probably best to just go with the flow and accept what's happening. The sooner teh better right?
besides that, I never thought humans would ever leave the Earth's sruface en masse. seems like this is going to change. Idc if it's ebcause of a theocracy or Satan himself...I just want to se more than what's directly around us. Alien life anybody?
Also, going off that--who thinks that the Dragon is an alien? A really powerful one? Live-gene editing tech >>> crispr cas9?

What's goign to happen to everyone cauht in the crossfire? I am not confident that I cna avoid forced military conscription. Am I just suppoed to go against the Baslith people? I really do not wnat to die. Can we join the church of the dragon and have a way to avoid getting killed if we're forced to fight?
Ii know they have signup online but I do not know how they would know I signed up. I signed up in the beginning but like @JaxXun1 I could not afford a plane ticket to join Basalith.
Should we go into hiding and try to wait this all out? Is anybody willing to host people in different countries until the Dragon comes?
I wonder if people could make our own churches of teh dragon. Would the dragon come and protect us?

It's on you all if you plan to worship a false god. The Dragon even said that he is a god, which is clearly false considering the fact that he even said he can't give anyone an afterlife. It's ridiculous that people are bowing down to worship this Dragon just because he's given them their desires. This literally sounds like giving in to temptation.
My 2 cents.
[–]flamefairy_x3 568 points 1 hour ago (1376 children)
Do we have any theories as to how the Dragon is doing anything from a scientific standpoint? If we don't, how can we prove he isn't a real god?

> Do we have any theories as to how the Dragon is doing anything from a scientific standpoint? If we don't, how can we prove he isn't a real god?
This is a pointless endeavor. If he really is an alien w/ FTL capabilities, how can we presume to understdn the limits of his technologies? I'm sure you are all fmailiar with the phrase, significantly advanced science = magic.
For instance, a human travels back in time w/ all modern knowledge, some modern technologies. He/she starts curing people with penicilin and giving people vaccines etc. Tells them all about clean food, plumming, infrastructure. If he/she uses lighting designs and explosives to make a big show, might not people assume he/she = god?
Same concept applies here. Pretty dangerous imo to just believe what the Dragon is saying verbatim because he can fix humanity's woes.
[–]jabellegreen 65 points 15 minutes ago (28 children)
Nobody seems to think fighting is an option.
I agree. COTD seems absurdly OP. Regardless of whether or not the Dragon is an alien w/ highly advanced technology or a god, he's dead-set on conquering Earth. Doesn't seem like there's much of a choice for us in the matter: either we die, or assimilate.
Is this the end of humanity as we know it? Maybe, if we're all genetically mutated enough away from our base human template. Basalith people have remarked online that the Dragon influenced their minds to seek violence. What if we're nothing but killing machines after a few years?
I'm not that pessimistic, I don't think the Dragon is going to just make us into bloodthirsty monsters. He wouldn't have any need to...right? He has his animals species, now, and I'm sure, if the stuff about going across the universe is true, he could find other worlds with life. He wouldn't need to choose humans, but that's what he's done. For some reason. He wants us humans intact.

Should we be petitioning our representatives to agree to join COTD? I'm from Germany; I don't see the Chancellor complying without a fight. This worries me. We will not be able to give a fight if the Dragon brings one to us. It's hubris. Not to mention nondemocratic states, I cannot foresee dictators complying with the Dragon's request.

everyone here seems so resigned to an uncertain fate. what if we just create our own enclaves, small groups of people, free from the dragon's influence? doubt he'll go after groups of a few hundred when the world is in his grasp. seems like a viable opton if all else fails. though it'd suck thta his arrival ends up scaring humanity into hidy holes. i'm sure that cotd is either going to be the best thing or the worst thing to happen to humanity, obviously not sure which. wish i knew which.

The Dragon fucking killed my brother. He was fighting in the battle earlier today for the U.S. Am I just supposed to forgive and forget, move on?

> The Dragon fucking killed my brother. He was fighting in the battle earlier today for the U.S. Am I just supposed to forgive and forget, move on?
Your absolutely moronic country was to blame for staging an attack on COTD's headquarters when they knew:
a. COTD has superpowered humans, likely more than a few thousand of them that would be sent to fight
b. COTD has lots of superpowered, highly intelligent animals
c. COTD has the motherfking Church and Dragon
As soon as they realized Basalith had a nearly invincible, retaliatory plant guardian, they should've pulled out. They invited their own destruction.
Hopefully other countries wise up and get with the program. This was obviously a demonstration. It's too bad your bro had to die for it.

> The Dragon fucking killed my brother. He was fighting in the battle earlier today for the U.S. Am I just supposed to forgive and forget, move on?
ur bro knew he might get killed when he joined up. I don't see how him getting killed in the trial of blood makes it the Dragon's fault. If anything it's the government's fault for going against and army that has a FREAKING DRAGON. I mean come on. If ur name isn't Dovakin you are not winning a fight with a dragon. Not to mention a dragon that can make people high. If the USA was really trying to win that fight they would have hit it with ICBMs. Or MOABs. But they didn't.
Maybe the USA is in on it. Maybe this is a secret government program to create supersoldiers out of normal people. They didn't want people to get wise about it so they ordered an attack to test the soldiers and make it seem like the They are resisting.

Man, I don't see what you all are afraid of.
...I mean if the dragon came to the country I live in I'd probably only need to carry a sign saying "I WORSHIP THE ALLMIGHTY DRAGON" to keep out of harm's way until the queue to join has thinned and I can join without waiting a few days.
Ah, well that's my opinion, but anybody else thinking the same/sth. similar?
[–]Tacroy 6 points 3 minutes ago (3 children)
If the Dragon isn't Satan, we should be seriously considering the possibility that he's some sort of Second Coming. The mythology of the Abrahamic religions is all about some mysterious dude showing up, throwing miracles around, and starting a new branch of the religion; that's what Moses did, that's what Jesus did, that's what Mohammed did.
And I mean the guy seems to be rapturing the shit out of people in Basalith. There was that one YouTube video of what looked like the entire city's population getting lifted up into the sky.
[–]Siribyl_682 1 points 30 seconds ago (6 children)
do you think that maybe the "dragon" has something to do with the myths/fables about dragons, like beowulf or stuff? maybe this dragon has been around a lot longer than we think: there's an old chinese legend about an emperor learning writing from a dragon? and then there's modern stories of "reptillian" aliens or shit? Maybe this dragon has been around since the beginning of mankind and finally got bored or something? food for thought.
btw, about the topic, who's to say that the dragon can't just force-mutate the rest of the world? why invade when you can assimilate and all that stuff. regardless, we're all either screwed or going to transcend or something. just my opinion on the topic.

Hey, just created this account to raise a valid point. Did a poll on Behindthename.com census.com mostcommonnames.com and yellowpages.com then browsed ancestry sites and a bunch of other sites. My personal Lord, The Dragon, said that his name is Bath. There is only one record of people named Bath showing up in the last thirty years in America. Won't say where it belongs to, but I'm thinking about going to that area and talking to the parents of this Bath and seeing if he is The Dragon. Maybe see about getting a spot in COTD for showing such admirable self-determination to seek out My Lord in this way. ...Or maybe I'll just be eaten....become part of the void that is the Dragon. Could be the first to go to the Dragon's afterlife as part of My God, The Dragon.
Thoughts?
