Chapter 1: Yukio / The Tower, From Afar
He had been in the world of the magic tower his entire life, longing to finally visit the tall spire that was barely visible in the distance. He heard a voice call out to him from behind.
“Hey, Yukio, stop staring at the lake and help out a little bit.” A voice asked
“Huh? Oh. So we’re actually leaving? You sure you’re okay with this, mom?” Yukio asked.
“You've wanted to go to the magic academy since you were a kid, right? I finally got a chance to send you without the village elder giving me a hard time, and now you ask me that? I already arranged for us to live with some family. C’mon, Yukio, just help me okay? These are pretty heavy.” Mom said, trying to lift a suitcase onto a carriage.
“Why is there a carriage coming to pick us up? Isn’t that for super high class fancy people?” Yukio asked.
“Yeah, the family we are going to stay with are super high class fancy people. Or rather, they're a part of the aristocracy. Kinda.” Mom said.
“Then why have we been out here in a village for our entire lives? Are we.....nobles?” Yukio asked.
“Noblility is definitely not the best explanation. Do you know how the magic tower works?” Mom asked.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“It’s magic, right?” Yukio asked.
“Yeah. Where does the magic come from? How can a place like this world exist?” Mom asked.
“Um. The books said that there was a god, and that god created this world. He gave it to a young girl. Then, she built our world here, and connected it with the eizalk or something kingdom. I think. She handed over control of the tower to her daughter so she could focus on other things, though. But they said that the daughter disappeared.” Yukio said.
“Well… that’s not exactly right. You'll find out when we get there. I’ll just let you get a firsthand experience of what it’s like in the tower city.” Mom said. She pushed back a few strands of reddish pink hair behind her ear, and smiled, with sparkling blue eyes.
“Do you know anything about that girl, Yukio? The girl who disappeared?” Mom asked.
“Yes. If I'm not mistaken, then...She's the daughter of the previous tower master, and is the current tower master. She’s the one in charge of everything. Basically our king. I don’t know anything else. Other than the fact that she looks around 19-25. Oh, and she’s one of the most gifted magicians of all time, like her mom.” Yukio said.
“That’s all correct.” Mom said.
“Oh. Oh! Hey! Look, the tower!” Yukio said.
“Yup. Looks like it always has.” Mom sighed.
“You never seem happy when we talk about the tower. Do you not like it there?” Yukio asked.
“No… it’s not that, it’s just too bothersome. Let’s just relax and enjoy the ride. Come here, rest.” Mom said.
She patted her lap, a beautiful smile adorning her young and pretty face.
“Mom-“ Yukio started.
“Ah, Ah, Ah! Listen to your mother, Yukio. Just lay down. We’ll be there in a minute.” Mom said.
Yukio laid down in his mothers lap obediently, and fell asleep.
