The raid

Finvir pov

A few hours later, I was awoken by a yell " Hey! Old man! Wake up!'' It was the voice of a young girl. I opened my eyes and was met with the sight of a young argonian girl with red scales and two fins on the top of her head.

Before I could say anything she continued " Neposh is waiting outside for you." and with that, she left. I stood up and popped my back, a very satisfying loud pop came out, then I walked out of the tent to see Neposh standing in front of the camp with a group of 9 argonians and 2 wood elves all wearing the same colorful armor, " looks like the old man got out of bed." he said to one of the older argonians who laughed.

" Nice to see you too Neposh." I responded in a drowsy tone, I walked over to the group "So the raid is about to start?".

Neposh responded with a little venom " Yes, it is, the camp is about 10 miles so we better get going" he turned around to address the group " MOVE OUT!" and with no other word the soldiers began walking to the camp

We sat on a hill overlooking the camp. It was night, Neposh had laid out a map of the camp, formed a small ball of light in his hand, and held it over the map.

"what is it, Mer?" Neposh questioned

"I can get the guards out of the way of your people, I will signal you when I'm done" Before he could respond I teleported down the hill into a bush near the entrance

" ok, I counted 4 guards out front two on top of the wall and two on the bottom, the best course of action would be..?" I tapped the bottom of my metal mask in thought "Got it."

I grabbed a rock and threw it into the woods, this got the attention of the two ground guards and they both went to check. I moved closer to a tree and teleported into the closest branch. I took my crossbow out and with the magnifying lens in my right eye, aimed for the one at the back.

I took a deep breath and shot the bolt into his head, as the bolt traveled through the air, I jumped to another tree branch above the other guard and dropped down on top of him, plunging my sword into his neck.

The entire encounter took only 1 minute. I made my way through the trees before I teleported back into my bush.

I checked the inside of my coat and I only had 5 more bolts. I clenched my fist and teleported near the top of the wall so I could shimmy my way across it. I moved till I was below the guard on the left side of the wall.

" I'm too old for this shit" I grabbed the guard's foot and pulled him off the wall, to a 20 feet fall to his death. I kicked off the wall and shot a bolt into the other guard's throat.

I pulled my way on top of the wall "ok, they are all asleep, perfect for the forces." I took a flare from my coat and lit it, a few minutes later I heard screams and saw about 20 witch natives run towards the camp.

" Now to look into this house." I jumped off the wall and teleported to a window in the house " I have roughly about 2 minutes before they arrive, better make this quick." I opened the window and snuck into the room, there was a bed with a Nord man and his owl mask on the bedside table.

"fast and simple," I whispered as I slit the sleeping man's throat. I opened the door to the other room and it was a large study with a desk with papers spewing across it "Bingo."

I looked at the desk and read some papers

" New shipment of swords." nope

" request for more people." also nope

" location of the obelisk?" that's what I need

Brown,

We have made major progress with the natives. One of the newer ones we caught told us it was underneath the emperor's palace.

I heard the door being banged on so I walked over and opened it. Standing there was a mob of argonians, “ Dobro pozhalovat' v moy dom!” (Welcome to my home) I said in native Ackermouth as I moved aside and let the mob into the home.

As we walked to the back door I started to explain “ The owls already know where the Obelisk is.”

“ Fuck. At least we got the prisoners.” Neposh said, however as we got close to the door we smelled blood. He had gotten a look on his face and rushed towards the door. And when he opened it.

We were met with the sight of blood on the ground, and Argonians hanging. We walked farther into the camp and it got worse. There was a hole in the ground that had bodies in it, they were all half-decayed and to make it worse it looked like some of their tails were cut off. Some of the younger natives threw up at the sight.

Tucked into the corner were cages with argonians that were starved but still alive, they rushed over and broke them open, and soon most of the captives were rescued except for one. When I asked about it, Neposh said “Leave him, he’s just a Fuun no omamori. (bad luck charm)”

The so-called bad luck charm was a male Argoinian with pinkish-white scales, pink eyes, and three fins on his head, he wore the usual cloth clothes the natives wore. A pair of colorful and vibrant loose-fitting tunic and pants.

I got close to the cage and he said “ Why are you still here?” his voice was barely above a whisper but I heard.

I replied, “Why does your tribe think you're a bad luck charm?”

The “bad luck charm” replied to me, his voice filled with a mixture of frustration and resignation. "They fear what they don't understand. My differences, my appearance, they believe it is a curse upon them and I was the one who got us captured"

I looked at him, the way his eyes held so much pain and longing, and against my better judgment, I couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy. "But surely, they must see that you're just like anyone else. We're all just trying to find our place in this shitty world."

The young boy's eyes widened in surprise as I freed him from his confinement. Slowly, he stepped out of the cage, stretching his cramped legs. He looked up at me, gratitude and disbelief etched across his face.

"Why are you helping me?" he asked, his voice filled with both confusion and hope.

I smiled at him, compassion I hadn't felt in a long time flooding my heart. "I don't know, kid, maybe I'm just getting sentimental with my old age, or maybe because change begins with someone taking a step, believing in something different. And I believe in you."

His eyes glistened with tears, and he reached out to take my hand. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.

"Don't get too sappy now, kid." I put his arm around my neck and carried him back to the camp, uncaring what the tribe thought.

Once I was out of camp, 2 or 3 natives performed a flame spell and burned down the torture camp.
