CHAPTER SIX—CATS IN THE HOUSE

Tynez spread her legs and drew for her gun. May did the same while simultaneously launching herself off the leather sofa.

The bodyguard brought her pistol to bear but the Anarcho slammed her left fist down, knocking the gun to the floor.

Tynez was fast.

She grabbed May’s wrist with her left hand and squeezed hard enough to crack bone which made May’s grip slacken. But it was her head-butt into May’s face that stunned her to the point that she slackened enough to actually drop her weapon as she stumbled two steps back.

Tynez lunged for her pistol. May forced herself to react and lashed out with her foot, connecting her shoe with Tynez’s jaw. She yelped as she rolled onto her back.

May shook the pain from her wrist and snarled as she pulled her foot back and kicked again, but her attack was stopped when the other woman grabbed her by the chin, connected with her other hand and twisted.

To keep her ankle from getting snapped, May let her other foot out from under her and twisted her body. Unfortunately saving her ankle had cost May her precious advantaged and she slammed to the floor on her forearms.

“Bitch!” Tynez snapped and punched May in the face.

She went down to the carpet but recovered quickly as she rolled onto her back, pulled her legs in and twisted her body around while the bodyguard clawed at her face.

May managed to get her knee under the other woman as she protected her face with her left hand and punched upward with her right.

Once she was well enough under Tynez, May used her strong legs to push out, sending Tynez off her and back to the floor where she snarled and cried in frustration.

The Anarcho reached over and grabbed her gun, flipped the barrel toward her before Tynez could attack her again. “Don’t move, or I’ll put a fuckin’ hole in your chest!”

Tynez froze, her eyes wild and her mouth a rictus of anger and snarling rage.

Sitting up, May realized her face was hot and wet. She reached under her nose with her free hand and pulled her wet fingers back. Glancing at them, there was more blood than she had expected to see.

Damn that hurt.

It still hurt, but May had recovered well enough. “Turn around,” she said. The other woman didn’t react. “I said turn around!”

Stolen story; please report.

Tynez sighed and obeyed May’s order. Once she was fully facing the other wall, May stepped forward and smacked Tynez over the back of the head with the butt of her pistol grip.

The woman went down and thumped against the carpet, her body slack. May wrinkled her nose. It hurt like hells, and yet itched at the same time. Looking at the blood on her hand again, she hissed and kicked the unconscious Tynez in the hip, once—then twice.

“Who’s the bitch now?”

Now that she was finished with Tynez, May picked up her Miatsu. She had attached an aftermarket silencer to it. The original was far too big to keep concealed without notice.

A shame, really, since the original was so quiet. The silencer she had on now would be considerably louder. She holstered her pistol and then tucked Tynez’s gun into her pants behind the hem of her jacket.

A wave of dizziness assailed her and May blinked, touching her face some more as she stumbled to the bathroom. She shook her head and glanced into the mirror. She was a mess and her white shirt had spots of blood.

The receptionist groaned and May glanced at her in the mirror. She saw May land eyes on her and gasped.

Turning around, she punched the receptionist in the forehead and sent her sprawling back onto the tiles.

“Dammit!” she hissed, shaking the pain from her knuckles before she washed her hands and face, then dabbed at her nose with one of the linens. Pretty nice to have five-hundred dollar linens in an office bathroom.

No wonder Kyle calls them our overlords.

Once she was cleaned up, May threw off her jacket and tossed her shirt into the trash. She went out of the bathroom, yanked Tynez’s unconscious form over and yanked her jacket off.

The woman moaned as May moved her about. Once she got Tynez’s button-up dress shirt on, she realized the other woman was a lot lankier than herself as she glanced sardonically at the cuffs which were well past her wrists.

“All right,” she muttered. She tucked the hem in and rolled the sleeves up to the crook of her arms.

Her eyes went back to Tynez. Then she made a call to John.

“Hey!” he answered. “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine,” May said as she sniffed from the itchiness of the cut inside her nose. “Just had to take down Thalaway’s lead bodyguard.”

“Are you serious?”

She heard the note of sudden panic in John’s voice. “Yeah. Don’t worry about it.” She sniffed again and rubbed at her nose with the back of her hand. “I took care of her.”

“Are you sure?”

“No—yeah, it’s fine. She got me pretty good on the nose, but its fine. I just need to figure out what to do with these two.”

“Two?”

“Yeah,” May said. “I knocked the receptionist out too. Twice actually.”

John chuckled. “Shit. Listen, I’m coming to you—“

“No, John.”

“No wait,” he said. “Kyle and I”—he lowered his voice—“usually come prepared for this kind of thing. I’ve got some pharma on me you can use to put them out for a good three hours.”

Well in that case…

“All right,” May said, nodding. “I’ll ping you the location of the little door. You should be able to get in from the outside. It’s not secret, it’s just sleek.”

“All right.”

She hung up and sent John the location. After that she stepped back and slumped onto the sofa. She sent Kyle a message.

May: let the shitbag bring you to the office

She waited a moment before receiving a message back.

Max: k

The pistol in her pants was hurting her back. May pushed her hips up and pulled the pistol out. She sighed heavily.

This was about to get hectic.

Then she chuckled to herself. “But it’s how we Anarchos role, I guess.” Tynez moaned and May watched as her long lashes fluttered.
