Chapter 6 – Battle of Sins (pt. 1)

A/N – Thanks for all the support you guys have given me this past month! Let’s hope for a great 2016! And hopefully, I won’t be really crap by then… However, I’ll be starting college soon, so the story might take longer. Anyways, on to the story!

Mature Warning- Extreme violence

--* Soul Citadel, Underworld *--

In a flash, the black figure flickered. Shock was the only emotion in the Emissaries’ heads. Never did they imagine that a newly reborn soul was capable of such speed. Yet none of them made a move to stop the incoming war. Even if they did not agree with the Emissary of Pride’s way, their curiosity was too overbearing.

Who would win?

It was a simple question, but it fueled their boundless curiosity. They prepared to halt the battle should it escalate into a death match, but seeing the new Emissary’s speed… Only the two combatants can determine the outcome of the show.

Covered by a veil of darkness, Grim’s figure appeared just behind the Emissary of Pride. With a raised hand shaped into a spearhead, he stabbed without remorse. However, before he could touch the man’s skin, the Emissary’s mouth moved.

“Sol”.

Within an instant, a cascade of golden light covered the entire citadel and blinded the audience. The light flung Grim's body into a distant tree, crushing it into splintered debris. As it crashed to the ground, millions of little critters crawled out of the red leaves, though this was not the surprise that caught Grim’s attention.

In the middle of the already battle worn courtyard, ten additional figures stood between him and the Emissary of Pride. Clad in bright golden armor, similar to the arrogant man’s hair, try had the aura of true knights. Even at a distance, Grim felt the intense amounts of heat they emanated as if they were the embodiment of the sun.

“Starting with those… Michael does not hold back,” one of the surrounding Emissaries commented as her scarlet hair danced like wildfire in the gusts of warm air. As exotic her hair was, it did not deter attention from her strangest feature. A fishtail. Though her upper-body held beautiful rosy skin, instead of legs, she possessed a sea green fishtail.

A true mythical creature: a mermaid.

The Underworld contained strange creatures such as terrifying demons or gigantic monsters, the sight of a mermaid proved to be stranger.

Beside the mermaid, a black haired woman watched eagerly, as if she could not wait for the bloodbath. The entirety of her visage was black as if the night had possessed her body. Though she was slightly chubby, the curves gathered to the right places and enhanced her looks, yet her dark eyes removed any semblances of a mysterious beauty. It was as if they could pull out your soul and devour it with a simple glance.

“That boy seems powerful. It will be difficult determine this match,” she said thoughtfully. Nearby, the other Emissaries nodded their heads in agreement. If the Emissary of Wrath were to attack them, they could not react fast enough to deter the blow. This did not apply to the Emissary of Pride, however, as the ten knights blocked the agile shadow’s path.

“Hoh, interesting…” Grim muttered. He felt that the darkness inside of his heart strengthened his body to an unbelievable extent. It was a blessing, but it seemed as if he was not the only one blessed by the hands of Sin. If the Emissary of Pride could summon such fearsome warriors, then what powers did the other Emissaries have?

Excitement brimmed in Grim as a wicked and bloodthirsty smile appeared in his face. His nightly hunts were a force of habit, no longer enjoyable after thousands innocent deaths. Though they provided entertainment, Grim missed the excitement of overpowering an enemy or surviving difficult situations.

What he enjoyed is the feeling of satisfaction as he killed the slaver with his own hands. The feeling of death and despair was horrendous. Remembering his powerlessness while facing the Blood Drop Assassins, his bloodlust grew.

It wasn’t the thoughtless murder he enjoyed. It was the struggle to surpass his limits and prove his worth. That’s his true drug.

The darkness from Grim’s cloak flared up. The black flames from his neck and right shoulder emitted piercing howls of terror and agony like tortured souls. Michael’s face scrounged up in disgust and fear. Grim’s aura was growing ever more fearsome and vile as if he personified the concept of Death itself. As the shadows grew, they coalesced and wrapped around the Reaper’s hands.

Finally, it exploded into a shockwave of shroud, the screams escalated into baleful shrieks. The sky grew darker and darker, making the red fog seem like pools of blood in the sky. The ground shredded and collapsed under the pressure of shadows.

“Destroy him…” the Emissary of Pride’s body glowed golden once again as hundreds of blazing knights appeared in the chaotic courtyard. Red velvet covered his body, amplifying Michael’s charismatic and handsome looks. At his back was a crimson cape bordered by white fur and had a yellow cross drawn in the middle of it.

A tall crown rested on his curled golden hair. The crown seemed masterfully created, like a priceless treasure. Around its borders were twelve settings fit to contain any gemstones, however, most of them were empty. A lone amber gemstone settled on the crown. Bright golden flames spewed forth from it, radiating a healthy, yet oppressive aura.

With boundless charisma and confidence, he fit the role of the Emissary of Pride. The role of a King. Standing before him was an army of golden warriors all ready to sacrifice their lives for the one they serve. It was an all out war with a dark beast and the army of a shining leader.

“Let’s begin the slaughter!” Michael ordered, compelling the legion of soldiers forward, their swords raised toward the sky.

A/N – Guys, please comment on whether I’m too detailed or not. Need to see if you guys want to advance the plot faster or go into more details to paint the world and characters.

Also, comment on whether I should have longer, but less frequent chapters or shorter but more frequent chapters
