The sun was light, its bright orange rays filtered through the canopies of the trees, crickets chirped on about as the sound of hooves resonated through the quiet forest. Amidst all this lay a goblin, small in stature and light in weight, creature waited patiently as his grasp on his make-shift knife tightened.
it has been a few days ever since the cave became empty, no one fed Grim and he eventually got tired of waiting, taking matters into his own hands, he started to scout the surrounding area, finding that the small critters were the things he ate when he was just born, hunting them was a chore first time around so he opted for eating plants that he dug from various sources- the root of trees, small clearings right beside the cave, those kind of things.
His pale complexion didn't help him much as he hunted but that didn't stop him from scouting around regardless, Grim does not know when the other goblins would arrive, and he does not care whether or not they would. He has survived thus far without them, hunting small game in his day to day life, and he doubts he's going to need them anytime soon. Still, finding them would still be a top priority as creatures were starting to wander at the edges of the cave without them.
West is where he mostly gets water from, though the small creek on that side is quite dangerous, it is also bountiful, with fishes and small animals sometimes drinking on it's shores.
East is a place that led to an area without any trees, Grim never got far as he is afraid to run around an area without cover. Also to take note of is that there are small white creatures with a fluffy tail and long ears about his size running around, they are capable of fighting back but when he did kill one, he was able to eat for the next three days.
South is a place where most animals live in, the trees on the place have gotten taller and the creatures more deadlier. Grim didn't go far before he was chased out by a six limbed insect twice his size.
He wasn't able to kill it.
Finally, North is an area devoid of any dirt but rather a place where rocks are a plenty, the land got higher and higher the more he ventured forth. Since there was no little to no cover along with the skies being filled with flying creatures that tried to snatch him, Grim also didn't explore this area, only scavenging the place near the forest for sharp rocks that he throws to his prey.
And then there's the cave he is currently living in, though there are other caves like this one, this is especially true for the northern side of the area, Grim found out the hard way that there are creatures living within them.

Still, a simple drawback wasn't something that could bring him down as Grim proceeded to once again explore, it was dark this time around but grim saw through it perfectly, he had no problems when it comes to seeing during this time and it's exactly thanks to that that he was able to hunt creatures thanks to experience, or perhaps lack there of. See, whenever Grim goes out hunting it is usually shallow and uncoordinated, almost as if he has done calculations but cannot execute them properly. And that was the problem, all these ideas flowed in and out of his mind but he has a hard time articulating them into the real world. He would think of more efficient hunting strategies but his body would always lag one step behind, and that was unfortunate. Still, repentance and dedication seemed to have positive effects though. Seeing that his muscle memory has improved over time.
And that was why he keeps on living, to improve and eventually meet Tori, or even better, her creator. So, deciding to explore east further under the veil of darkness, Grim set forth. He does not know what he once was, but, he does recognize that his living conditions were better than this.
Rustle
Rustle
His back itched, his body felt like shit, and his mind was hazy, even then he kept going, he has been exploring the grassland for what seemed like an eternity, the sun wasn't up but he did wish it was because even though he can clearly see in the dark, it didn't help much when he needed to gouge out an enemy 40 yards away. Still, he was thankful given that he can still see. He wasn't anle to discern much, but eh, at least it was visible. He at least knew that his old self wasn't able to do this before and that gave him comfort.
Moving on, the grassland was harsh, so much so that after a few moments after he had stepped in, he already had to fight for his life as creatures tackled him left and right, they were like the massive flying beasts that roamed the skies of the north, though wingless. Still, that didn't stop the avians from attacking him with their beaks, like a high velocity bullet, or a blade swung with a strong force, the monster's sharepened mouths cut him apart.
And though he dodged left and right, he was still harmed, and so, Grim opted for escape, turning his back on his assailants as they caused small raptures on the grass, splitting it apart and creating small gaps as they ran through it at incredible speeds before hurling themselves towards their enemies with their gathetef velocity.
Though they don't have grace, they more than made up for it with pure, unrelenting agility.
Once Grim was far from their reach, his assailants stopped just outside the think grass, enabling the small goblin to see halothey looked like-
Lie bird-like creatures had long necks that carried a head the size of a tennis ball, their bodies were filled with muscles, this is especially true when it came to their ligaments. Their purposefully small stature has enabled them to gain speeds that most creatures normally wouldn't, this enables them to use their beaks in ways that most creatures cannot normally access.
Living bullets so to say.
Grim was eventually left alone but that did not mean they won't come back, and as things stand- the goblin looked around, finding no signs of the creatures, he continued to tread forward.
