After massacring all of those guys he went on ahead and fought:

With these guys he barely killed them with firebolt the next tier he would have too use fireball to one shot them, sure enough they had 75 health

It cost quadruple the mana to use one so he couldn’t miss once he got to level 5 he was ready to take on the boss.
