Chapter 3

The boatyard was tearing into flitters by the gigantic power, board fragments fluttered everywhere just like defoliation in a squall on a fall day. I grasped a rope that hung from the beam, stepped on a broken board, redeployed all of my muscles to fighting the shaking.

I wiped the water off my face, since the boatyard was destroyed, the whole river unfolded before my eyes.

The zombie-whale ridge emerged from billows, like a mountain pile of rugged bones, blocked the watercourse, sheltered the sunlight. I can’t describe how pageantry it was. But I well aware of the zombies, as everyone knows, only died after they brain were destroyed. If I wanted to do it to the whale, I needed to work several days to cut through its skull with a chisel.

I wanted to swing my body to the land in near, but then the water flowed back and rushed me far more away from the waterside. I looked back in amazement therefore the zombie-whale head rose up from the water as the sun. The monster opened its mouth, the smell of rotten meat came to my face. I saw hundreds of zombies pushing and squeezing in its mouth. They struggling, snarling, tearing down the flesh from each other. None but demons could create this terrible scene.

While I would be inhaled into this living hell, my knapsack belt hooked on wood thus saved me.

Soon after, the monster stopped devouring then vomited everything in its stomach violently. Water pushed me onto the broken bridge, the boatyard wrecks and zombies rain down all around. I got up quickly, took off the knapsack follow by drew my katana.

I held on to my katana, this bro tided me over many difficulties. An extremely ugly zombie spurted to me, I apologized for the untimely sarcasm, but you can guess what a dead body looks like after dipping in water for a week. I forward my katana pierced its head, end its declining fate.

After that, I pulled out my arm to get ready for the next zombie. Then I realized I have to say sorry to the preceding guy, by contrast, it's as beautiful as beauty painting. I prefer to face an angry bear more than the new zombie. My katana smoothest cut down its head as if jelly, the strong-smelling water splashed everywhere. At that time, I would rather be an elephant so that I could stretch my nose behind my back to breathe.

While I was full of complaints, the current situation taught me a lesson immediately. I watched a zombie-bear came out of the whale’s cloven ribs. It didn't know how long it had been immersed in the water, its body swollen into twice, stood up at least three meters tall, with a layer of barnacles wrapped around the body as firm as armor.

I picked my bag, turned around and ran into the nearest warehouse, closed the door rapidly. The zombie-bear arrived follow my heel, hit the door again and again, the thin wooden door would not stop it for long.

Look around, so many sundries filled in the warehouse and blocked off the behind door, more and more zombies were coming, I had no way out.

The situation now almost drove me crazy. I searched for escape tools frantically, but only saw some abandoned rowboats, diving gear, sailing instruments, life-saving tools, celebration decorations. On the other side, the zombie-bear had broken a large hole in the door, even put its huge barnacle-covered paws through the hole and accidentally touched the bolt.

I rushed toward the door, tried pressing the bolt, but eventually was a step too late, the door was still completely open. The zombie-bear stood snarling in front of me, I could even clearly see a jellyfish tentacle hid in its chaotic eyes. In the nick of time, I suddenly hit upon an idea, I took out the stargate pass card from my pocket, pressed it onto its chest, then opened the stargate before its bloody mouth bit down. The zombie-bear head bounced off the black barrier which suddenly appeared with a thud.

The stargate seems to have an auto-adjusting function, adjusting itself to the size of the space, such as now it stood like a wall in an impregnable position between me and the zombie.

Once the zombie-bear struck, the electronic sound sent out a warning.

"Please use class W safety containers to transport class W biohazardous materials! Please use class W safety containers to transport class W biohazardous materials! ......" Oh my! If this level of zombie virus is only W-grade, then what should A-grade hazardous materials look like?

I slowly put one hand into the stargate, still could touch the cold seawater and felt the powerful pressure of the seawater. However, I didn't know how deep the seawater really was, so I didn't dare to risk entering. Although this warehouse happens to store some diving suits, but if I suddenly deep several hundred meters under the sea, then my body will be subjected to the pressure of no less than being run over by a road roller, something that is only a squid or a whale can do.

Fortunately, the dock warehouse had a broken submarine detector. This equipment is generally installed in the treasure hunting ship, the boat owners keen to adventure always drop this instrument to underwater with a rope, taking pictures of the seafloor, scanning metal objects, maybe one time it will be able to photograph the treasure chest full of gold coins. Most of the parts of the seabed detector were lost, but the water pressure gauge to test the depth of the ocean was still intact, so I took out my all-purpose saber to remove the water pressure gauge and sensor on this seabed detector, then sent the sensor into the stargate, after then, the dashboard showed the opposite side water pressure.

The value was 5Mpa, which simply means that the opposite side of the water was almost 500 meters deep.

I suspected that I left the museum in the wrong direction, the water pressure here seemed to be higher than there.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

In the beginning, I wanted to use the materials in the warehouse to make a piece of floating equipment, but the diving suits here were ordinary diving suits rented to tourists, and the oxygen tanks were also waste products. Don't imagine that they can play a role 700 meters under the sea. If I’m not careful, my dead body will float on the surface of the alien sea.

When I rummaged the sundries in a muddle, a photo floated down in front of me. The photo was toke at here, show a jollification celebration in the past days, people laughing and drinking, almost forget the time. There is a banner behind the crowd that hung in the sky by a hot-air balloon, showed a slogan--

2077 Blueberry Town Beer Festival

Now that there was no way out, I looked up at the sky, which is more difficult to fly 500 meters high or dive 500 meters of seawater?

This celebration just happened in 2077, although 10 years have passed, all of the props were still in this warehouse. I assembled the hot-air balloon, made certain it was intact all the same. Then I found a screwdriver and a ladder, climbed to the tin roof, planed to remove the screws holding the ceiling in place, but I didn't expect that after ten years of weathering, the iron sheet had rusted and even could be cracked with a fist, that was really saved me a lot of time.

I made a lot of noise that the walkers became even more manic, but because their IQ was very low, they didn't know how to go around and instead put all their effort into breaking that stargate. I also had to run to the stargate a few times to make sure they were focused on the door to avoid them climbing up on the roof and interfering with my actions.

I shoved out the hot air balloon through the big hole on the roof, lit the flamethrower, but the fuel, which had been abandoned for ten years, apparently didn't work very well. So I had to go back to the warehouse, rummage through a large iron barrel, some dry wood and a lot of paper, recreate a power source. I hung the barrel under the balloon, lit all the fuel I could find, a steady stream of hot air filled the balloon, with the ropes holding the balloon in place tearing the beams to a creaking halt. The place I planned to go doesn't need to consider landing or heading, so I naturally dismantled most parts of the balloon to carry heavier items, including my backpack full of weapons and an inflatable raft with an engine.

Seeing that the balloon was about to finish restarting, I wrapped all my belongings in a tarp, changed into a wetsuit, then just tied myself and my belongings to the rope under the balloon. I took a deep breath, cut the rope tied to the hot air balloon, when I flew to the proper height,I stretched out my index finger and clicked on the stargate, the stargate closed as a card appeared at my fingertips, I collected the door card quickly.

The hot air balloon wobbled and took off, I looked down, the zombies gradually became the size of ants, the huge whale blocking the river was as big as a puppy, after that, I saw the edge of the city, saw the edge of the forest, saw another city in the distance. About ten minutes later, the quiet picture like an oil painting suddenly shook, the hot air balloon above my head suddenly tore a hole, then began to drop. I immediately pushed the card under my feet and quickly tapped the gold spot, so the hot air balloon dropped into another world with me.

I held my breath, prayed that I had risen high enough, but what awaited me in the distance was not the cold water, but the weightlessness of the fall down. The fresh sea breeze came over me, showing the blue sky and the endless ocean, the blazing midday sun shone on the sea as if it was sprinkled with gold leaf, the waves ebbed and flowed with a pleasant sound like gemstones crashing.

I untied the rope tied to my body, jumped into the sea with a swoop, then caught the items hanging under the hot air balloon, throwing them all through to the hot air balloon that was spread out in the sea. Although the hot air balloon could not support long, but enough for me to seize the time to used the air cylinder to fill the inflatable raft. I hauled all the things to the inflatable raft, dragged the burning barrels behind the raft, after all, these were the only resources I have left now.

I looked up at the sky, now the biggest problem is that my stargate is still hanging in the air 20 meters high, voice commands and sign language can not be retrieved it, well, it seems that it can only stay there for the time being.

Because I already knew that the water near the town museum is shallower than the pier, the latitude and longitude between the two planets are symmetrical too, so I took out the compass to find the direction corresponding to the town museum, began to paddle towards there. But after about half a day of that, the sun was going down, I still couldn't see land. It would be too bad if I went to the trouble of reaching a strange planet light-year away just for dying on an alien sea, unconsciously, disappointment, fatigue and hunger came to my mind, so I stopped paddling, took out the taro tubers in my bag to eat.

I was about to finish my meal when a reddish cloud came from behind me. Was the planet going to mock me, a poor woman, with a cold rain? How could there be such damn luck in the world? Just when I was complaining to myself, the cloud arrived above my head, let out a long bird song, it turned out to be a flock of sea birds! They had the appearance of seagulls and the color of flamingos. A few of them were curious hovered over me, one even attempted to land on the raft and try to peck at the rest of the taro roots in my hand. I carefully offered the food, it nonchalantly picked it up then flew back to its companion.

With renewed courage, I paddled after the seabirds as they returned to their nests, while the birds disappeared from my sight, the land appeared at sea level as I had hoped.
