Chapter 19: Class-D Anomaly Part 4

As the explosion rang out, Riddick instinctively ducked and covered his head. The ferocious shock-wave spread, followed by the chain reaction of the explosion igniting four other vehicles on the right-hand side of the gate.

Riddick kept his head down because he knew at this moment, heavy debris was currently in the air and falling down at an incredible pace. While laying down, he even rolled slightly so as to go back under the cover of the cars close to him.

Under the car, he could hear tiny shards falling, as well as them hitting the ground in front of him. Some parts were tiny and hot, others were large and smoldering. But at this sight, Riddick showed a look of relief because he felt a problem was dealt with.

After about 10 seconds, Riddick felt there was likely no longer any debris that would be falling, and so he crawled out from under the car and stood up to look at the scene before him. There, at the left-hand side of the gate, he could see a huge mushroom cloud of greenish-gray smoke rise up into the air, with the base where the cars had been being nothing but a burning inferno of scrap.

At this sight, Riddick was more than sure that Phil was dead, and so his attention turned to the house. But even there, he could hear no sound, so he couldn't help but wonder if Johnny and everyone else in the house died.

After glancing around one more time and seeing no immediate threats, he felt it was now time for him to investigate the house. He was about to do this by climbing one of the wooden pillars near the porch, but as he approached, he heard something odd.

*Grah!* A loud, sorrowful grunt reached his ears and caused him to frown and turn his head back at the smoldering inferno of car debris.

However, as he did so, his once relaxed expression turned to one of concern as he narrowed his eyes even more, trying to see just what was happening in that mushroom cloud of smoke.

*Boom* *boom* *boom* another odd sound followed as huge bursts of green light could be seen within the mushroom cloud of smoke, similar to how bubbles could be seen boiling on the surface of water.

While looking at this spectacle, a huge scrap of metal was hurled in his direction at an astonishingly fast speed. Riddick, with superhuman reflexes, quickly ducked down and dodged the huge scrap of metal that was coming toward him.

It hit the wooded pillar behind him with a vicious force, breaking it and going through before lodging itself into the house's wall.

A fusion of urgency and caution arose on Riddick's face as he raised his head and looked into the smoke, at which point he could feel a huge trembling on the ground.

In the next moment, a large, muscular form emerged from the smoke, and then a hand followed in a swiping motion as it cleared out the smoke in its path, revealing the full scope of what was hidden inside.

Now standing further away from Riddick, was a 4m tall disfigured form, or rather what was formerly Phil, looking at him. One could only see a few resemblances left as what currently remained looked more like a monster than anything else.

Its freakish 4-meter tall frame aside, it had an incredibly large and muscular build, its muscles bulging with green veins visible to the naked eye, pumping and yearning green blood-like substance for all to see.

His eyes were an eerie bright green, and his mouth hung open, drooling. While his clothes had completely been torn off, leaving him naked. But strangely enough, there were no organs of reproduction visible.

Looking at this sight, Riddick was left shocked.

"What the hell is that?" Confusion struck Riddick.

Was this Phil's superpower? But no, it made no sense. If he had something like this he would have used it to try and escape.

‘The Supracell.’ Riddick's mind settled on this, but even he couldn’t have predicted it to have such an effect. After all, he assumed the serum, which was highly volatile, would only add to the explosion.

At most he felt it may have created a dangerous surrounding, but not that.

“*RAHH!*” Phil let out a huge roar as he saw Riddick's figure. It was like he was trying to speak, but its speech was so messed it was hard to make out.

Riddick stood up and was about to start thinking of what to do, but without warning, it slammed its hands on the ground one time, causing the entire 50m radius around it to tremble ferociously as it broke into a charge straight for Riddick.

What shocked Riddick most was that it was incredibly fast for something that huge. In addition, its size meant it traveled greater distances in a short amount of time, so even Riddick was caught by complete surprise when it closed the distance between them in less than two seconds' time, which Riddick thought he could use to think of a way to counteract.

In that time, though, it got close. However, not close enough that he would allow it to grab him.

Unfortunately for Riddick, that wasn't its plan. As it swatted down, its large hand with a wingspan greater than 2m long was more than enough to reach Riddick, swatting his figure away.

Riddick felt a colossal force slammed against his front, even though he crossed his arms quickly to cover his chest.

It propelled him back and through the house before his body eventually was stopped by the wall on the other side.

*Bam!* he hit the wall with tremendous force, nearly breaking through it if it wasn't made of concrete.

At this time, Zoe's voice flashed in warning from his watch. "Warning, Riddick. I detect you have suffered multiple injuries. I advise that you make a speedy retreat."

Riddick, however, stood up, gasping for breath, while blood trickled down his lip. That one attack had cracked several of his ribs, and his immuno-titanium cells were getting quickly to work in repairing the damage.

As he raised his gaze toward the monster in the distance, its heavy steps drew closer as it yelled, "KILL!"

----------------------------------------

Meanwhile upstairs, the effects of Riddick getting blown into the house were felt, first by Johnny and a band member who barely escaped death by electrocution. He had managed to stumble up the stairs, but as he was doing so, he felt the entire house rumble, and he could hear the sound of something getting propelled through the house, tearing through objects and furniture.

That drew fear into his heart, as his expression grew more panicked. He immediately rushed toward the room Riddick had occupied, as it was the nearest door upstairs. His goal being to get out through the window and out of the house.

However, as he opened it, he met Johnny face-to-face, who was also in the midst of exiting the room so that he could check on his daughter. After all, the rumbling of the house was also heard by him.

Once their gazes locked, Johnny was the first to react, as he tried to raise his gun.

However, with the nearest gun being a marksman rifle, it was far too heavy to lift in a quick motion. Whereas the band member had a curved knife hanging off his waist, which he also reached for before slashing it toward John.

The barrel of Johnny's marksman rifle got hit, and he felt the force as he stumbled back, dropping to the ground immediately. It was clear between the two who was stronger physically, and it wasn’t Johnny. Once fearful, the band member now showed a grin as he twirled the knife, a sinister and weak smile propping up on his face.

"*Haha* I got you, got you," the man muttered, thinking that if perhaps he killed Johnny, he'd be a step closer to leaving this hell he had stumbled into.

However, just as he muttered this, a vicious, inhumane grunt came from downstairs, causing him to jolt in fear and instinctively look back, worried that it was right behind him.

Even Johnny was fearful when he heard it, but seeing the band member in front of them distracted, Johnny used this to his advantage and raised his gun, ready to shoot.

But as he did so, the band member noticed this just outside the corner of his eye, and quickly reacted. Although the band member wanted to dodge, it did so too late, and he was struck in the shoulder. Whereas Johnny, who wasn't in a proper position, fell backward from the recoil of the gun.

"No! I can’t die here," the band member screamed frantically. He felt like death was knocking at his door.

Johnny was about to stand up and shoot the man again, but he suddenly felt a sharp pain on his leg. And as he raised his head to look, the band member could be seen near his legs, having stabbed his curved knife right into Johnny's leg.

"*ARGH!* Get off me!" Johnny yelled, kicking the wounded band member off him as he held his leg in pain.

However, the band member was only injured on the arm, so he wasn't as affected as Johnny. Despite not being able to use his right hand now, after being kicked away, he hurried to his feet.

After stumbling onto his feet, the hyena band member looked toward Johnny with a crazed gaze. "I'm not going to die here! You're not going to kill me! I’m not going to let you kill me!" his words sounded crazy as he got up and lifted a nearby metal ornament, hanging off the wall, before lunging toward Johnny with it.

However, Johnny also managed to grab onto the strap of one of his rifles, quickly bringing the gun over to his head as the band member charged toward him with the ornament.

Johnny raised his gun in panic, without even bothering to aim, and pulled the trigger. His shot hit the hyena band member right in the chest, and his once active motion was brought to a halt as he fell over and dropped the ornament just a few inches away from Johnny's leg.

Johnny panted heavily as the rate of his heartbeat grew higher. He looked at the dead man now laying on his floor, but he felt no relief.

The rumbling he felt in his house brought about the renewed urgency that the situation wasn't over. He let out panicked gasps for breath and tried his best to stand, because although his leg hadn't been struck at a vital point, he was still losing blood. For now though, he chose to ignore the blade embedded in his leg, as it was, one of the few things preventing him from over bleeding.

Then, while using the surroundings for support, he began to make his way out on one leg. But this time, the house had become a lot more shaky, as a consistent rumbling emanated through the entire household, causing him to look down the stairs and wonder just what the hell was going on.

However, he didn't have the luxury to check right now. He only wanted to get his daughter and leave. In his mind, there was no way he could make it out alive if he had to face off against more of the band members. The element of surprise he once had was gone, and banking on his own strength was a stupid idea.

----------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Riddick managed to bring himself up, still struggling to breathe as his body began to heal at an astonishing rate. He looked at the towering creature that approached, destroying things as it trudged through the house, completely ignoring the electric current that still surged through on the floor.

Zoe continued to warn Riddick, “I strongly advise you to retreat Riddick. If you sustain any more critical damage, there is no telling whether or not you will be able to heal quick enough."

Riddick, however, ignored those words because only he knew just what the limits of his body were.

As he looked at the towering figure approach, he let out an annoyed, sarcastic remark, "Well then I’ll just ask him to let me go.” While saying this, the mutated Phil got closer, raising his large hands in the air, ready to strike.

“Grah!” he let out a grunted roar as he brought his hands down with immense force.

Riddick read it however and dodged to his left, narrowly missing the immense attack as it collided with the floor, immediately shattering it and causing pieces of wood to fly around in all directions.

The force alone from that strike though propelled Riddick a few feet back.

‘This isn’t going to be easy…’
