"I think I'll take..."
Wait a second, make sure you know what you want before you decide. There if a way to change classes but it costs a lot and can really set you back.
"Ok, then just give me a little."
First of all, classes. Some of them are just straight up nopes, like alchemist, I don't mind making things, but from the way it sounds, my only real combat ability is being able to use various potions. Another thing, I don't really want to play a straight up melee class, if there is magic in this world, then why wouldn't I use it? So that limits me to the options of Scholar and Shaman. Of the two, Scholar sounds a little more my speed. Shaman sounds cool, but you could be stuck in a situation where you there were not sufficient materials around me.
"I'll take Scholar!" Ralph shouted triumphantly.
*wince* calm down, you're making my metaphysical ears bleed.
"Sorry, this is just usually the part where the trumpets go off and confetti is rocketed into the sky."
Yeah well I'm on a budget, so you don't get any of that stuff.
"well that what do I get?"
*DING*

cost: 2 stamina per second for materials or a set amount based on the complexity of the book
benefit: materials that have been studied can be used to imbue weapons with
Huh, so it's not just books that I have to study.
Next thing up, races! What do you want
So I have four options, Draconian, Halfling, Elf, and Human. Well I can get rid of human right away, already been one. Halfling seems pretty useless as I am not a stealth related class. So I have Draconian or Elf. Draconian seems to fit just about any class, while being an Elf would fit a Ranger type class. Draconian seems better suited to me, and the ability to fly is just to good to pass up.
"I think I'm going to take Draconian"
Okay! by the way...
"Wha-ksdfjbghjefb"
Confetti blast to the face!
Anyway, next up is buffs and debuffs. You get to pick one buff based on your lifetime.
"Let me see those buffs!"
Nerd: +20% speed to studying
Guinea Pig: +10% poison resistance
Abused: +15% physical resistance -5% mental resistance
"...Those are uncomfortably specific. Nerd would have the best advantage based on my class, but the others could be helpful in specific situations. But if classes are as powerful as they have been in other games, I think I'm going to have to go with Nerd."
Okay, so, last up is skill points. Ready?
"Yup."
