Chapter 5: Forests and Plains
Against the background of howling wolves, the moonlight, which was still rather bright, looked pale and gloomy. It even had a bit of a zombie movie feel to it.
Qin Rushuang curled up in a ball surrounded by foam boards, then whispered, "Aren't they coming to eat us?"
"No, the view here is very good. If a wolf comes, I can see it right away."
"Moreover, wolves will not attack creatures larger than themselves casually. This does not comply with the laws of the jungle, where the law of the jungle is for the strongest."
"The most important point is that the terrain here is a beach, which is not suitable for hunting by creatures like wolves that like to run and attack!"
Zhang Liu firmly listed three reasons to calm the trembling girl next to him.
"Really?" Qin Rushuang felt relieved after hearing Zhang Liu's words.
"Of course! Have you forgotten that I'm the first in my class?" Zhang Liu answered decisively. "Do you have any other questions?"
"No more..." Listening to Zhang Liu's firm tone, Qin Rushuang sighed, then continued to hide in the temporary insulation made of foam.
But while Zhang Liu was harsh in his words, he felt guilty in his heart.
The three reasons mentioned before were all made up by him on the spur of the moment.
Zhang Liu, who had only watched a few wilderness survival videos, knew nothing about wild wolves and only said those things to comfort Qin Rushuang.
But ultimately, if a group of wolves really came to hunt, the two of them would be helpless.
It is better to expect the worst-case scenario and hope for the best.
The sounds of howling wolves and other animals kept reaching their ears, and Zhang Liu and Qin Rushuang had already lost their sleep.
He didn't know how much time had passed under the moonlight, but Zhang Liu heard a rustling sound coming from behind him.
"What's wrong?" Qin Rushuang was covered by a foam board, and Zhang Liu, who was lying next to her, naturally couldn't see what was happening inside.
He couldn't get his head in directly, so he could only ask.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“It's okay... I'm just feeling a little homesick” Qin Rushuang replied with tears in her voice.
“I was thinking that we would also go out to play. Why did you feel homesick so quickly?” Zhang Liu naturally understood why Qin Rushuang felt homesick.
But in this case, he had to pretend to be stupid.
"it's different! Originally, at this time, we should have hot pot, barbecue, and watch various shows together in Japan…” Qin Rushuang whispered.
“Hey, are you still with me? When we get out of danger, I will treat you...” Zhang Liu just wanted to say that he would treat her, but considering that the other party’s family was very rich, he changed his mind and said, “If you want to eat hot pot for a month, you have to eat it in your palace! Three meals a day! No! Four meals, including midnight snacks!"
“Hahaha… You’re not afraid of me getting angry!” Although Qin Rushuang was feeling uncomfortable, she couldn't help but laugh after hearing Zhang Liu's teasing tone.
Hearing the other party's laughter, Zhang Liu felt relieved.
Then he hurriedly struck while the iron was hot and said, “What’s wrong with the hot pot? How about taking the meat and the hot pot at the same time? And with this magic beef, I want to be full too!”
“Magic beef?” Qin Rushuang repeated in confusion, then said with a smile, “Is it Kobe beef?”
“Ah… don’t worry about those details,” Zhang Liu replied, feigning embarrassment. “Anyway, classmate Anya said she has a private cattle farm at home!”
“...” Qin Rushuang suddenly fell silent.
Zhang Liu also realized something.
He didn't have to mention Anya's name to bring her back to reality.
But the words had been spoken, and he couldn't take them back.
They pursed their lips in embarrassment and then remained silent together.
“You said we wouldn't really be stuck here, didn't you?” Qin Rushuang finally broke the silence and asked, “Have people outside started looking for us?”
Qin Rushuang had already thought about it when she was leaning on the rocks during the day.
Let's stay here for a few days; maybe someone will come to our rescue.
Or Zhang Liu would bring back other survivors, and everyone would work together to survive and be able to last longer.
But as the entire day passed, there was only Zhang Liu, and her in a weak state.
Even now, after her reaction to the other party's jokes, she has begun to feel pessimistic and hopeless.
“Don’t worry, people on the plane, except for me and Teacher Chu, who among you nine are not social celebrities or children of wealthy businessmen?” Hearing Qin Rushuang's desperate tone, Zhang Liu quickly helped raise her morale: "I believe that now they have already mobilized all their efforts to frantically search, and someone will come to our rescue soon."
"I will find a way to make a fire tomorrow. With the fire, we can eat delicious food. Isn't this place close to the sea? There may not be a hot pot with magic beef, but we will be able to have a hot pot with seafood."
"Pfft..." Hearing Zhang Liu's words, Qin Rushuang burst into laughter and smiled, saying, "Do you think this is a department store where you can buy whatever you want?"
"Hey, we have to think positively. As long as we're still alive, there will always be a way!" It seemed that Zhang Liu's words had an effect. As his voice lowered, a wolf howl could be heard from the depths of the forest, gradually fading away.
The entire desert island seemed to fall into instant silence.
The two closed their eyes and slept until the morning sun woke them up.
"Rescue didn't come." Zhang Liu and Qin Rushuang looked at each other, then turned to gaze at the sea's surface. Zhang Liu's tone was filled with frustration.
What he hoped to see the most was a rescue team when he opened his eyes in the morning.
"Hmm..." Qin Rushuang responded helplessly as she sat down.
After enduring a mix of psychological fear and physical pain for half the night, although she had managed to get some rest and recovery, she was still physically and mentally exhausted.
The smell of the foam wasn't pleasant, but Qin Rushuang no longer had the energy to even despise it.
"You're not in good shape." Noticing Qin Rushuang's condition, Zhang Liu quickly supported her body and helped her bask in the morning sun.
The slightly warm sunlight gradually brought sensation back to her partially numb limbs, and Qin Rushuang turned around to smile at the anxious boy beside her, saying, "Thank you."
"Since when have you become so polite?" He smiled wryly and shook his head. Zhang Liu was about to continue speaking when his eyes accidentally caught sight of something bright red on the ground.
As he looked up, his attention was drawn to two slender, rounded thighs. The soft black silk that had once covered them was now placed on top of the foam board.
Zhang Liu had never seen a stranger's thighs from such a close distance, and he felt suffocated for a moment.
Qin Rushuang also noticed the boy's intense focus, and just as she was about to cover herself with her hands, she felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen, causing her to groan and spasm.
Her previously held-together, slender jade legs are slightly separated due to her trembling body.
The skirt, which had barely concealed the sparse forest, had long lost its function.
The forest suddenly lay within Zhang Liu's unobstructed sight, resembling a snow-covered plain.
