CHAPTER 69 JINGCHENG SIJIA
As Dennis' situation was dire, Xavier let Olivia rest in the villa for one night. Early the following day, he took her to the Si Family's residence in Jing Cheng.
As the political and economic center of the country, Jing Cheng was different from Jianglin City. It was a stately city with a long history.
But when Olivia took the Si Family's car and arrived at the super-large and luxurious mansion in the city center, she still couldn't help but marvel at how powerful the Si Family indeed was.
As the most prominent affluent family in Jing Cheng, the Si Family bore a hundred years of history. This large residence was built decades ago before slowly being renovated and decorated.
Therefore, the compound of the mansion was huge and imposing. There were different pavilions located inside, which made the place feel like a palace.
However, it was also due to the long history of the Si Family that the mansion came across as solemn-looking. It looked grave and depressing.
Olivia didn't comment much, though, for she was just here to treat Dennis.
A man who looked to be in his 50s led them into the house as Olivia trailed behind Xavier.
As soon as she entered the lobby, Olivia realized she wasn't just here to play the doctor's role but also to witness the Si Family scheming against each other.
Xavier secretly grabbed her hand, letting her know that she should not worry about it because he would be there for her.
Olivia glanced at Xavier, smiled, and said nothing.
She was here to treat Dennis, and she had no desire to get involved in the Si Family's affairs at all.
"Xav is back!"
In the hall filled with people, a middle-aged man sitting at the front saw Xavier walking in with a disguised, short-haired Olivia wearing a mask. He stood up and said, "Is this the miracle doctor Zoey Xue?"
Xavier stood there lazily, not caring about the stares of those onlookers who treated Olivia and him like entertainment. He shoved one hand into his pocket and nodded. "That's right."
After speaking, he turned and smiled at Olivia. "Dr. Xue, allow me to introduce you to the eldest son and the acting head of the Si Family, Mr. Zachary."
Olivia adjusted her glasses and nodded, greeting Zachary Si casually, "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Zachary."
Even though he was already a senior, he was still known as the eldest son of the Si Family because Dennis had always remained the head of the Si Family.
Zachary obviously disliked this title. His face darkened, but he didn't get angry. He just nodded and said, "Thanks for coming over, Dr. Xue. My dad's condition isn't looking optimistic. Please find a way to save him!"
Next to him, a well-dressed middle-aged woman with great skin and pieces of jewelry covering her body from head to toe crossed her legs and smiled arrogantly. "What do you mean by that, Zachary? Dr. Xue is a famous miracle doctor, and she will definitely save Dad's life. You speak so much that sometimes I wonder if you truly want Dr. Xue to heal his sickness."
Zachary's face darkened, and his gaze turned sharp as he looked at Yelena Si, the middle-aged woman. "Yelena, don't simply spew nonsense around here. I'm filial toward Dad, and I want him to
recover quickly so he can continue to be the head of the Si Family. My intentions are pure. Don't you dare stir up trouble between Dad and I!"
"Instigation?" Yelena smiled disdainfully. "Your evil ambitions are known to everyone here!"
Before Zachary could unleash his fury, another tall and thin middle-aged woman covered her mouth and laughed. "Zachary, Yelena, why are you guys arguing? Dad knows very well how you guys treat him normally. Everything will go according to his plan when Dad regains consciousness, so what's the point in fighting now?"
Yelena snorted coldly. "Well, it's easy for you to talk, Michelle. You've only been home a handful of time during the past year of Dad being sick! Why did you decide to show up today anyway?"
Michelle Si shrugged. "I am different from you, Yelena. You're a stay-at-home wife. All you need to do is eat, sleep, play and repeat. Even so, you barely drop by to visit Dad. I have a few companies under my name, and my employees are depending on me to pay their salaries. How on earth am I supposed to find the time to travel back and forth?"
A young girl beside Yelena couldn't help but whisper, "Does your companies earn enough profit to cover the losses? Did you earn any money at all?"
Michelle snorted with mockery in her eyes. "It's not your turn to speak yet, kid! Yelena, instead of bantering with me, why don't you spend more time teaching your kid to behave? After all, we don't want her to ruin the Si Family's reputation."
"You..." Yelena's face darkened. She was so frustrated she couldn't find the words to retort Michelle.
Xavier observed the scene with amusement. "All right. You guys can continue your discussion. Time is running out. I'll bring Dr. Xue to the patient first."
Xavier was the only one who dared to cut in during the conversation between older adults of the Si Family.
His expression was calm. A casual yet composed aura radiated from him, and no one dared to retort his words.
Xavier gestured for Zoey to follow him during this tense moment before leading her to the yard where Dennis stayed.
Along the way, the butler, who was following Xavier closely, felt worried about Xavier.
"Does he really not know how complicated the situation in the Si Family is now, or is he just pretending not to know? With such disregard to the authority of the Si brothers and sisters, isn't he afraid of what will happen to him if Old Mr. Si cannot be cured? No. Wait. Dr. Xue will definitely save Old Mr. Si. It's a must for her to save him!"
The butler took a deep breath and prayed silently in his heart.
Before long, Olivia arrived at Dennis' room.
Another person was lingering inside.
Olivia initially thought it was someone hired to care for Dennis, but when she got closer, she discovered it was a young man about the same age as Xavier.
With gold-rimmed glasses that accentuated his refined aura and a white laboratory coat, Olivia immediately realized the man was a doctor and a world-famous one. He was an outstanding neurologist who had won numerous awards, Yaron Xue. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
"Are you Zoey Xue?" Yaron stood up immediately when Olivia walked into the room, and his deep eyes focused on Olivia.
Olivia nodded handsomely and said nothing.
Yaron furrowed his brows and looked at Xavier. "Mr. Xavier…"
"How is he?" Xavier bobbed his head lightly and spoke calmly.
Yaron's brows etched even deeper. "It's not looking good."
Xavier turned to look at Olivia, who nodded and strode toward the big bed inside.
Yaron tugged on Xavier worriedly. "Is she really…"
Xavier raised his eyebrows, "What do you think?"
It wasn't that he didn't believe in Xavier, but Olivia was not what he expected, for she was too young.
He always thought that the legendary miracle doctor Zoey was at least a middle-aged woman in her thirties, forties, or even fifties. But now, the person who showed up looked only in her twenties.
Yaron spent thirty years devoting himself wholeheartedly to the medical field but could only make minute achievements in neurology, and this was despite the fact that the entire Xue family were experts in the medical field.
He thought, "How did a twenty-year-old woman became unparalleled in medical skills and could revive people from the brink of death?"
