CHAPTER 23: NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO SLANDER HIS WOMAN
"How did you know that the Xia Construction would run into trouble?"
After Tyrone Xia left, Olivia Xia lazily assessed Xavier Si.
Xavier Si smiled and replied, "The breakfast shop downstairs from the hospital happened to be broadcasting the news. The poor quality of Xia Construction, along with the issue of unpaid worker wages, is probably known throughout Jiang Lin by now."
Olivia Xia nodded without any surprise, "This was bound to come out sooner or later; it was just a matter of time."
Xavier Si leaned back in his chair, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "You seem quite calm about this."
Olivia shrugged. "I've been expecting this. Tyrone has always been too careless with the company's operations. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened."
Xavier studied her for a moment. "So, what are you planning to do about it?"
Olivia sighed. "I don't have much of a choice. I need to step in and clean up his mess. Again."
Xavier's expression turned serious. "You know, you don't have to do this alone. I can help."
Olivia looked at him, surprised by the sincerity in his voice. "Why would you want to help me?"
"Because I care about you," Xavier replied without hesitation. "And because I believe you deserve better than to constantly fix other people's mistakes."Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
Olivia's heart skipped a beat. She had always seen Xavier as a reliable friend, but in that moment, she saw something more in his eyes. She quickly looked away, trying to compose herself.
"Thank you, Xavier. I appreciate the offer, but this is something I need to handle myself."
Xavier nodded, respecting her decision. "Just know that I'm here if you need me."
As Olivia left his office, she couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth from his words. She knew she had a tough road ahead, but it was comforting to know that someone was there for her.
Back at her own office, Olivia began drafting a plan to address the issues at Xia Construction. She knew it would take time and effort to turn things around, but she was determined to succeed. She also knew that she couldn't let her guard down, as there were always people looking to take advantage of any sign of weakness.
Over the next few days, Olivia worked tirelessly, meeting with key stakeholders, negotiating with disgruntled workers, and managing the media. Her calm demeanor and strategic thinking impressed everyone, and slowly but surely, she began to regain control of the situation.
Meanwhile, Xavier kept a close eye on the developments, ready to step in if Olivia needed him. He admired her strength and determination, but he also worried about the toll it was taking on her.
One evening, as Olivia was working late in her office, she received a text from Xavier. "Dinner tomorrow night? My treat. You deserve a break."
Olivia smiled at the message. She knew Xavier was right – she did need a break. She replied, "Sounds good. See you then."
As she put down her phone, Olivia felt a sense of relief. For the first time in days, she allowed herself to relax, knowing that she wasn't alone in this fight.
