Chapter 5 - New World Mystery

August 2nd, 2065 - Earth Date

[Unknown, Unknown - Teleportation Tunnel]

This event maddened Roger to the point he grunted and cried at the same time causing his face to distort in a manner that you thought he was a crazy person. This did not last long because he could see many of his men and people were also going crazy by this event. He calmed himself to the point he had a cold maddening look in his eyes and began to speak loudly so that all could hear him speak within the tunnel.

“MEN, CIVILIANS, WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE GIVEN UP? WOULD YOUR FAMILIES LIKE YOU TO FOLLOW THEM OR LIVE YOUR LIFE?”

He saw many of his subordinates straighten up and wipe their face of the tears they had shed for the people they had lost and the people seemed to have calmed down when they heard the man speak.

“NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION START MAKING GROUPS OF TEN AND STAY TOGETHER!”

As roger finished speaking many of the military personnel began to gather citizens and made groups of ten as he ordered them to. He turned to Williams, who was a survivor of the event, spoke in a calm manner.

"First Lieutenant Williams, how long are we suppose to be traveling if the energy was given by the solar flare, give me a guess.”

Williams thought the best he could making calculations based on the theory they once spoke of, he looked towards the general and replied.

“Sir, if its a guess then somewhere between 2-3 minutes.”

“2-3 minutes?”

Roger glances down to his wrist watch and calculated the time the transfer started and how long they have been transferring for. He whispered to himself.

“So, its been 2 and half minutes, then any time now we should be arriving at our destination.”

“Sir?”

Williams spoke because he could not hear the general. Then Roger looked up and saw a circular wall made up of the same colors as the tunnel, approaching them. Roger shouted out.

“EVERYONE PREPARE TO BRACE YOURSELVES!”

Roger glancing to his left side seeing his wife grasping his hand. He smiled to her not sure if they would be able to survive the atmosphere of where they were being teleported to, they made contact with the wall within the warped tunnel, disappearing out of it in the same way they had entered it.

Atop a cliff above the sea facing the edge of what looks to be a forest west of the lined purple circle. The circle begins to fill with colors that looked as if they were fighting each other for control of the space within the circle. People began to appear above said circle as well as supplies that they had brought with them from their journey across the vastness of space. A tall well dressed man waited as what seemed to be the last people to appear and then spoke.

“MEN, I NEED YOU TO COUNT HOW MANY SURVIVED AND HOW MANY MILITARY PERSONNEL, CIVILIANS AND CHILDREN ARE LEFT? NONE OF YOU CAN BREAK DOWN ON ME NOW BECAUSE WE ARE SOMEWHERE WE KNOW NOTHING OF UNDERSTAND?”

Roger spoke as sternly and commanding as he could to keep order amongst his men and people. He look over to Dianna and Williams. He spoke to them giving orders.

“Dianna and First Lieutenant Williams, I need you both to go through our supplies and count up every thing and let me know what we have, understand?”(Roger)

“Sir, I’ll get to that right away”(Williams)

“Roger, don’t push yourself too much okay?”(Dianna)

“Dianna, that's kinda hard to ask for right now, but I’ll try, OK?”(Roger)

“Fine, we’ll report once the task is done.”(Dianna)

Dianna and Williams both walk off to the back of the crowd of people that are gathering for the census. Roger tilts his head back and raises his arms up to his shoulders. He begins to shut his eyes and starts to breath rhythmically trying to calm himself. He looks back and sees his men and the civilians are taking things rather well considering what had happened to them.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

A few minutes go by as roger is still calming himself and getting his emotions in order, a soldier walks up to roger and salutes him awaiting for him to give him orders.

“At ease Warrant Officer Sanchez, I’m assuming you are here to report to me on the census correct?”

Sanchez places his arms to his sides and relaxes some and begins his report.

“Sir, there are exactly 473 people alive after the event, but we lost 580 people in total, Sir.”

Roger bite his lip in anger having lost so many lives, and proceeds to speak.

“Sanchez, Continue with the report.”

“Yes Sir, of the 473 alive 289 are Military Personnel and 184 are civilians with no children under the age of 15 surviving, Sir”

“......Shit, its that bad!”

Roger was so mad that his calm mood broke after hearing all the young children had all but disappeared from the transferred group. At this time Dianna and Williams began to approach the angered Roger. Upon seeing them come from behind the crowd of people he started to control his anger and proceeded to dismiss Sanchez.

“Sanchez, be on standby I may need you again, OK?”

“Yes Sir”

Sanchez disappears in to the crowd of people once again. By that time Dianna is starting to report their findings.

“We currently have 5 Hummers, 5 Weapon crates each with 25 M16 rifles per crate, 8 ammo crates each crate containing 10 cases of 250 ammo rounds of 5.56mm caliber bullets, 3 weapons creates each with 50 Glock 19 handguns, 7 ammo crates each containing 20 cases of 250 ammo rounds of 9mm caliber bullets, and 2 Grenade cases of M67 Grenades each with 25.”

Williams spoke after Dianna gave her list of weapons and vehicles.

“Sir, we currently have a total of 10 industrial grade oil pumps, with 20,000 feet of piping, we have 3 mining vehicles, with about 50 spare drill bits, 20 industrial grade computers, and 15 gas powered generators.”

“Roger, we also a have 100 large tents, industrial grade hospital machines, medical supplies, 4 semi truck gas tankers and enough rations for 3 years for 1000 people.”

He nodded understanding everything that Dianna had just listed to him and started to think of plans and how to proceed forward. He looked up and told Dianna.

“Dianna, get everyone ready we are going to head further inland and find a large enough clearing that can accommodate us and our supplies comfortably.”

“Williams, when all the tents and people are in order start working on finding some oil veins and getting the machinery working, understand?”

“Yes, Sir”

Dianna and Williams walked off rushing to start their work. Roger looked to the crowd and called out.

“SANCHEZ!”

Out of the crowd of people Sanchez comes jogging to the general and was about to salute the general, but Roger waved as if saying there is no need.

“Sanchez, I need you to pass out the rifles to military personnel and the handguns to the civilians for protection, OK?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Also I want you and a group to take 2 of the hummers and scout ahead and clear any dangerous animals and if possible avoid killing any inhabitants, just scare them away, understand?”

“Right away sir.”

“Good, you're dismissed.”

Sanchez walks off knowing what his tasks are, Roger breaths a deep sigh to relieve him of his stress and anger, he looks up, noticing at the west end of the sky the sun is about to set in a few hours and to the east seeing the two moons rise for the signal of night. He speaks to himself dumbfounded.

“Huh, 2 moons!”
