Chapter 43: Luck

•••

Two months earlier.

A celestial palace sitting upon a towering mountain gleamed within the vista of sunlight that shone upon it, it was akin to a beacon of light. Clouds gently hugged the sides of the mountain, while a passionate sun rose from behind it, thus creating an enchanting picture for anyone who gazed upon it.

The mountain was situated at the centre of an expansive city. The architecture was varied, but each had a common trait, they gleamed with new-age infrastructure, buildings multiple kilometres in height and diameter were a common sight.

Currently, within the celestial palace, a compelling character sat at the head of a table in an elevated position, within a luxuriously large hall. The figure, possessing a handsome yet hard face, sported a manicured beard. An imperial majesty emanated from him, such is the grandeur of a man in a commanding position.

Around the table sat many esteemed characters, each able to reign in the four directions, but before this man, they each contained their pride.

“We were woefully unprepared for the incursion of them a millennia ago. If it wasn’t for the fortunate luck of my wife, Felicity Immortal and Blossom Immortal, being in the vicinity, the climate of our realm may be very different,” the man solemnly said to those around the table.

“Even then, they still incurred damage, my wife was also pregnant at the time, and as a result, she had to be put into slumber with my child until very recently. The same applies to Felicity Immortal who went astray for the past millennia recuperating from her injuries. You all know of this, but I deem it necessary we start from the very beginning to formulate an efficient counter-measure…”

This conversation carried on from when the sun rose to it fell.

The sound of high-heels rang through the hall, as a beautiful, yet young female walked through the main passage into the hall. A few men and women around the table lifted an eye-brow noticing the new-comer, not because of the young girls seemingly rude behaviour, but rather to the ways in which the Primordial Way Laws coalesced around her.

The Way Laws acted as if they had seen their Empress, following all her commands and casual whims, at the same time they were astonished by the overwhelming vitality that emanated from her. The eminent characters all nodded their heads noticing the girls bearing.

The girl, with fiery red-hair, looked towards the man at the head of the table, with a coquettish look. She walked up to him and held on to his arm.

“Father, I’ve been invited out by the Blossom Immortals disciple for some drinks, may I please go? I’ve been cramped up here cultivating ever since I got back from the Religion, I’m already a substantial distance into your War Immortal Technique,” The girl asked endearingly.

“Very well my dear, you have been incredibly motivated since your return, even I am surprised at your progress. But just in case, let me place some protection on you…”

“Daddy, no! I’m in Atlas City! Everyone knows not to do anything lest they are incinerated on the spot. Anyway, mother is coming with me too.”

The man almost spluttered out his proverbial drink.

“Your mother is going… that should be fine.” The War Immortal stuttered when mentioning the girl's mother.

A few chuckles spread around the table, these prestigious figured all knew how the majestic War Immortal was intimidated by his wife, the Blood God.

“Even though I’ve been elected the leader of the Central Realm, my wife is still my fatal weakness.” The War Immortal closed his eyes in mock laughter, as he thought.

“Thanks, dad! See you!” Enyo turned around as quickly as she came, and rushed out the hall.

She flew across to a queenly airship, maroon in colour, with exquisite craftsmanship around it. The Imperial crest of a man holding up the world was engraved on the sides of the ship.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

The ship flew across Atlas city, all people the ship flew past stopped and bowed in the direction of the vessel. For they knew, this beautiful maroon ship was the private property of Empress Blood.

The physical incarnation of the carmine life-bringer, the God of Blood.

In the time it takes to brew a cup of tea the ship moved an indefinite distance and touched down on a landing pad in the shape of a lotus.

Two beautiful figures both dressed in pink dresses, that expanded out a few metres behind them, stood upon the landing pad.

Both possessing pink hair and heavenly beauty, they laughed as they moved towards the two women in front of them.

“Sister Enyo!” “Sister Azalea!”

“Sister Blood!” “Sister Blossom!”

The women moved to their respective partner relative to their age and jumped into each other's embrace. The two sets of friends quickly separated without a word, as if they were familiar with these actions already.

“Enyo, I’m so happy you’ve come. I was getting bored, it’s been a couple of weeks since we last saw each other, although we speak to each other daily on our communicators, it doesn’t beat meeting in real life,” Azalea looked happily at Enyo.

“I know right! I can’t handle it, mother and Senior Blossom have already lived for an incredibly long time, two weeks is equivalent to blinking their eyes. But we are only just past ten! It’s atrocious!” Enyo said in annoyance, injustice in her eyes.

The two girls walked to natural paradise, a pavilion sat upon a crystal clear lake, a plethora of lotuses gently floated upon the surface of the pond, while beautiful koi fish swam within.

A distance away Blood and Blossom rolled in laughter listening to the two girls complain to each other.

“It’s great to be young isn’t?”

“Haha, yes! Remember when we use to go to the annual tournament, walking on stage with all those men looking at us with fire in their eyes!”

“For you to form your physical body you had to be born akin to an infant, I still have a good chuckle when I remember your husband’s visage when you told him you were the Blood God.” Lotus heavenly laughter echoed around them.

“Those were the days.” Blood said in reminiscence.

“Except, this time… it’s different.” Lotus said, a solemn look appearing in her calculative eyes.

“Indeed. The Era of Geniuses is upon us. According to Wushia the Great Diviner, there is only one reason why our universe would spawn so many talents at once, and that is in preparation for a great calamity.”

“My husband and I have had the same thought, but for Wushia to divine it… it must be so.” The two ladies sat down on in their own pavilion, the architecture and scenery precisely the same as the young girls.

“I was going to inform the Celestial Court when I heard of this information, but Wushia denied me so. He’s actually… going to do it himself.” Lotus said with an odd look on her face.

“For Wushia to actually leave his abode and appear in Astral City, the Capital City of the Central Realm, he must have even more delicate information that he is afraid of being disseminated.” A rare look of solemnness in the Blood God’s eyes.

“Wushia is still the most mysterious figure of the universe, his soul-power is inestimable, and his skills of divination unparalleled. He didn’t even appear in the Celestial Court a millennia ago when the first incursion happened.”

“If there is anyone who has a faint idea of who Wushia is, it would be sister Felicity. It’s a pity we haven’t met her in nearly a millennia. Well, we saw her when she fought my husband. I haven’t seen her that angry in a long time.” Blood finished with a chuckle.

“She’s made sure to communicate with us, repeatedly sending us pictures of her grandson.”

Sly smiles spread across the face of the immortal and god, thinking of that perfect boy.

“Azalea, I’m going to go mad soon. Multiple immortals and their descendants or disciples are dining with my father in hopes of meeting me.”

“Some of them do not know when to give up!”

“Haha! Enyo, didn’t a few of them organise a tournament over who can be the sole courter of you?”

“Yes… They didn’t even ask me! It’s set to be in a couple of years.”

“I wonder what would happen if a certain someone was to enter Atlas City at the time, and heard this news.”

The two budding beauties turned to each other, sly smiles similar to their seniors spread across their faces.

In the void in an obscure part of the Universe, between manifold layers of space, an illusionary palace lay silent.

The palace itself was ethereal in nature, seemingly there but not at the same time. It was an independent world of its own. The master of the palace governing the laws of the space around it.

A hazy figure sat upon a rock, situated on a pond, at the centre of the palace. The scenery around the figure was similar to that of a Zen garden, scenic and peaceful.

Instruments of all kinds lay floating around the figure, an archaic book lay before the shadowy figure.

Ancient characters indecipherable to the contemporary universe were engraved upon the surface of the book.

Only this figure before the book was able to understand it.

“The Book of Changes, infinite, everchanging, cleromancy at its finest.” The figure upon the rock slowly said.

The voice undiscernible, neither male or female.

“The universes' Luck has steadily increased since the epoch of the Era of Geniuses, this Luck has been disseminated to each of the chosen children, these geniuses…”

“Some have been transferred Luck by their parents or masters, and some simply have more innate Luck than others.”

“With more Luck, one can achieve greater heights and possess more opportunities.”

“Luck can also be stolen.”
