I've worked tirelessly to become stronger as long as I can remember. I've wielded my sword for years, destroying anything in my path, be it human or monster.
There was a massive wall blocking my way, but it wasn't an excuse to not reach my goal. I was determined not to give up. My promise to myself was for one purpose: to seek revenge on the person who took away my happiness and childhood; it was my sole purpose in life.
Until this morning when memories started flooding into my mind. I was suddenly overwhelmed by excruciating pain that started in my head and spread throughout my body. The pain was unbearable, and I blacked out. When I woke up, the sun had set, and it was evening. I lay there for hours in a daze. I didn't know why I had fainted. I didn't even have time to contemplate this, as my mind was in complete chaos due to the memories flooding in.
Was this some sort of magic? Who was playing this twisted game with me? I quickly used my mana to check my body; everything seemed fine. Then, I extended my mana to check the room. No one was there. I had a feeling, even without checking, that these memories were real. But accepting this reality was extremely difficult. I had entered another world. My name was Ethan Mintz, a high school student who loved playing games.
Just when summer vacation began, a new game was released called Ruined World. It was a single-player narrative-driven game, and within a week of its release, it was already being hailed as the greatest role-playing game in history. The game offered a multitude of playable characters, incredible graphics, the ability to shape the story as you wished, and a vast open world where you could interact with every character. There seemed to be no limits to these interactions. You could write and chat with non-playable characters (NPCs), and each of them had unique personalities. It felt like you were having conversations with real people. This is why players of Ruined World enjoyed simply chatting in the game.

The game didn't force us down a single path. It gave us one simple objective: to save the world. If you took actions that would save the world, the game rewarded you. However, the game was incredibly challenging. Not only did you have to start over if you died, but the enemies were incredibly powerful. When and how you would die in the game was a complete mystery. A wrong move could lead to your execution by nobility, or you could be assassinated while you slept. Despite six months passing since the game's release, no one had been able to prevent the world's destruction. Most players had become disheartened and were no longer trying to finish the game. They spent their time in the game world, exploring and interacting. A small group, including myself, continued to strive to complete the game. I put in months of effort and finally managed to finish the game. It was the happiest moment of my life. The problem was that it was my last memory as Ethan Mintz.
Now, I found myself as Lester Ortiz, one of the game's most challenging characters. As my thoughts swirled, a voice in my head jolted me: "SYNCHRONIZATION COMPLETE, SYSTEM ACTIVATED."
Suddenly, a window appeared in front of my eyes.
MISSION:
SAVE THE WORLD FROM DESTRUCTION
Name: Lester Ortiz
Attributes:

[Blood Curse %??]
I stared blankly at the window in front of me. Lester's character sought vengeance against his father. My goal was to seek revenge against my father, the one who had killed my mother in front of my eyes. But according to my memories from the previous world, Duke Ortiz hadn't intentionally killed his wife; it was the [Blood Curse] that caused it.
I couldn't help but burst into laughter. I was furious. "Hahahahaha." Am I to believe now that he was innocent? I couldn't accept this. Had all my efforts been in vain? Was everything I had done meaningless? Was my promise to myself in vain? "NO!!" I grabbed the chair next to me and threw it at the window in front of me.
My mind was in disarray. If I thought about it any longer, I'd lose my mind. I grabbed my sword and jumped into the garden from the broken window.
I decided to swing my sword wildly until my anger subsided. I kept swinging it until I collapsed onto the grass and fell asleep.
