Pushing forward by betting ones life

Pushing forward by betting ones life

Is this was they meant when they said that a cultivator could never live a peaceful life and that it was impossible to progress without risks. Seriously… it hadn’t even been that long since she’d last said she’d make sure that she would properly plan things out first for the Xiao Jun. Here she was taking another insane random and unplanned risk.

She never made a habit of contradicting herself so much in such a short span of time.

But then again she was out here on her own not just trying to survive but it get stronger. She really wanted to be stronger. In her past life there had been way too many time when she’d wish she’d had the physical strength to protect victims from their tormentors. Or get vengeance if she was too late.

As a profiling psychologist she’d truly seen the worse of mankind. How many times had she profiled serial killers or murderers in general? How many times had she had to examine their handiwork. It was due to this that she had such an aversion to killing those beasts before with her bare hands. As she’d looked at victims lying on cold slabs, buried in one place or another, or discarded in some filthy place she’d learned to an inflated appreciation for life. She strongly believed that no one had the right to take like from anyone or anything.

Yet as soon as she’d come here she’d immediately started killing and eating meat. Even now she was going to incite violence in such a primitive. She’d honestly believed she was above this kind of thing…. Reality had proved she was just being a naïve fool.

The ground shook so hard that that she almost lost balance but her ability skills had gotten much better and her spidey sense had started tingling. Well it was battle intuition…. But she’d always been a huge comic book closet nerd so her sub conscious preferred the term spidey sense.

She pushed hard on the ground and dodge a pearl the size of a mans torso that landed hard near her. She waved her hand took the pearl into her ring. She just barely had enough room for it. She was extremely pleased. This thing along with the tiger lily would greatly help her cultivation. She calmed herself down and focused again. This turtle was way faster then she’d originally thought it would be. It was a freaking turtle after all. How could it be this fast.

Although she was keeping ahead of it, it was just barely. If she made a single wrong step she’d be dead for sure.

As she moved through the trees she had the most outrageous thought. She wondered if she looked as graceful as that one chick in that one scene in crunching tiger hidden dragon. That seen when she was running through the forest with the sword? She’d have to get Xiao Jun to look at her later and then get his opinion.

She jumped up and grabbed hold of a tree. She gathered extra Qi to her feet and then propelled off the make a one hundred and eight degree turn dodging a huge blast of water that she could describe as insanely frightening.

She sped off and the pear turtle didn’t hesitate to follow her. It was furious that it couldn’t catch her. After all it was the victim here it just wanted justice. It had been minding it’s own business and that human girl had attacked and stole from it all of a sudden without an provocation at all. It stayed hot on her tail completely determined to eat her… smash her… or something that equally meant death.

She could already see the area where the Wyvern was resting. She was almost there she just needed to make a bit further and then she could let these colossal monsters fight it out and she could reap the benefits

She suddenly wore a completely devious and evil looking smile. On someone less beautiful and perhaps more evil it would likely look extremely sinister. On her she just looked like a naughty kitten. How a person was inside would eventually show on the outside. Bai Mei Li wasn’t sinister at heart so how could she possibly twist her face into something ugly when she just having a few naughty thoughts?

After several more miles she landed back on that tall tree that over looked that valley. Everything looked the same. The gigantic two headed snake was still laying there resting in a field of flowers.

Bai Mei Li’s heart was beating so rapidly that she was could hear it in her own ears. Now this was the moment of truth. Breathing deeply she counted down.

She dodged to the side just barely missing the turtle.

It zoomed past her and aimed straight for the snake. She didn’t waste time. She instantly changed direction pushing off another tree and jumped toward the turtle. She grabbed hold of a part of it’s shell quickly pulling herself up and then started running again. Once she was at the edge she dropped off heading directly toward the middle of the Wyvern where the Tiger Lilly was. She was confident it wouldn’t destroy the plant in the fight. After all it had likely been waiting for quite a long time for it to bloom and it would bloom with in the hour.

Because the Tiger Lily would bloom so soon the wyvern hadn’t actually been sleeping. It had just been resting but it had been on high alert. Once it had felt the pear turtle heading in this direction it was properly prepared to attack. What it hadn’t expected was for the real thief to be a little human girl. Her power level was so low that the Wyvern hadn’t even noticed her.

Bai Mei Li headed directly toward the plant. Her plan was to grab the flower and then immediately get away using her Qigong. But even the best laid plans could go awry and this plan wasn’t laid properly… even by a little bit.

When she grabbed the plant she’d planned to take it by it’s root and get the hell out but what had actually happened was that she’d ended up under water.

What she’d originally thought to be a field of flowers was actually a giant lake with floating flower looking plants on top. She was totally unprepared and ended up swallowing a mouth full of water. She tried desperately to make her way back to the surface but it was too late now. The enormous monsters were in the water with her fighting like theirs depended on it.

They hadn’t actually noticed her yet. The turtle had forgotten about her and the Wyvern hadn’t noticed her from the beginning, but that didn’t matter. With their big bodies tussling around her she couldn’t be in more danger even if they had noticed her. She had wisely released the Tiger Lily she didn’t want to drown the plan but they had created several giant whirlpools and she was being sucked down.

Since she hadn’t thought that she’d be landing in water she honestly hadn’t been prepared so she hadn’t taken a deep breath or made any other preparations. She felt like she was drowning. Her lungs where desperate for air. She was panicking.

‘No! I don’t want to die again!’ She screamed out in her mind. She had to calm down. Her rapid heart beat was taking up her oxygen.

‘Calm down!’ She said over and over to herself. Her chest was tight and her lungs where burning. But she was cultivator… she was strong. Once she was calmer she looked around and actively start dodging out of the way of the fighting turtle and wyvern while making herself back up to the surface. It wasn’t an easy feat at all. As soon as she felt she was making some progress she would be dragged back down by their ferocious fighting.

It took several minutes but she eventually made it to the surface, She gasped for air but didn’t dare dally up here. She couldn’t see them this way. What she needed to do was to get to the roots of the Tiger Lily, pull it out by it’s roots and store it in ring. She could find a safe place to let it finish blooming and then store it again in the ring until she was ready to breakthrough.

She didn’t waste any time. She took a deep breath dove back into the water. While she was on the surface she’d locked onto the plant she swam to it and then drove directly down as fast as she could.

The area directly by the plant was more peaceful.

While the Turtle might not be concern of the Tiger Lily the Wyvern certainly was it kept the fight away from this area and that worked to Bai Mei Li’s advantage.

She swam as quickly as she could. As soon as she reached the bottom she quickly dug her hands into the soil and pulled out the roots. Once that was done she swam back up as quickly as possible. She was already running out of air again. This river was really way too deep and the stem of this Tiger Lily was really took long.

Once she was back at the top she immediately stored the plant in her ring and then took a deep breath and drove back the water, swimming back to the shore line with everything she had.

Even under water she could hear the furious roar of the Wyvern. It was as though it could immediately feel the loss of the Tiger Lily. Bai Mei Li didn’t look back she just swam with everything she had, betting on the fact that it wouldn’t be able to detangle itself from it’s battle so quickly.

Once she was at the edge she jumped out and forced as much of her Qi to her feet as she could and ran away as fast as possible. She never looked back once.
