It was easy to tell that his Innate Ability, Soul World, was overpowered.
Xavier felt much more comfortable with Glut now that he was considered his Soulbond. He was not sure why he was not notified about that, or the fact that the Unknown Egg was also considered his Soulbond, however, Xavier was happy to understand the Ember Sparrow better than ever before.
Glut chirped loudly, sharing his joy with Xavier as the effects of the Soul World’s first ability came into effect. The Soullink between him and Glut was already quite firm. It was a connection that could grow firmer as they relied on each other more often in battles as well as everyday life. However, for now, it allowed them to communicate with each other efficiently and sense their emotions as well.
Glut was excited and happy. The little Ember Sparrow was a little jealous that Xavier managed to advance earlier, but the competitive spirit of the sparrow was fully ignited. Xavier could tell that Glut was ready to charge out of the house and return to the wilderness to kill a few dozen powerful enemies in an instant. The Ember Sparrow was eager to evolve!
Other than their improved communication and connection, Xavier sensed that his understanding of Coat of Fire increased. That was proven correct as several notifications popped up in front of him the moment, he used the Spell Card to conduct some minor experiments.
[Proficiency of Coat of Fire reached 100%. Level Up!]
[Proficiency of Coat of Fire reached 100%. Level Up!]
[Proficiency of Coat of Fire reached 100%. Level Up!]
Coat of Fire advanced to Level 10. +2 Soul Essence.
Reaching Level 10 with a Card was a rare feat. It was a threshold for every Card, an indicator that it would grow increasingly more difficult to gain proficiency. That was also why it had been so difficult to Level up his other Cards after they crossed the first threshold. Reaching the Max Level with Air Bullet had been incredibly difficult and an achievement not many attained.
Since Coat of Fire was an Uncommon Card, which made it more difficult to level it up than a Common Card, the system was more generous with the rewards. Instead of rewarding him with 1 Soul Essence for Coat of Fire’s advancement to Level 10, Xavier was given two Soul Essences.
It wasn’t an extraordinary reward, but it was certainly better than nothing.
He got it for free. Who was he to complain about freebies?
A small fireball formed in his hand as his attention traveled to the Coat of Fire. He didn’t have to activate the Card to conjure a fireball. Instead, he relied on his understanding, comprehension…and Soulshare to control the flames in his room.
It wasn’t mentioned in his Foundation Orb, his Card Deck, his Innate Ability, or anywhere else. However, Xavier was certain that he gained a Minor Fire Affinity through Soulshare and his firm bond with Glut.
The flames he conjured were somewhat familiar. They reminded him of Glut’s embers.
Damn. Doesn’t that mean I don’t have to rely on Cards anymore to conjure flames? That gives me far more leeway to play around.
Xavier fell deep into thought as his mind came up with various possibilities.
Will my Fire Affinity improve naturally as Glut evolves and grows stronger, or is there a limit to the understanding and power Soulshare can share?
As the firmness of your Soulbonds’ Soullink increases, the shared power between Master and Soulbond will increase alongside.
You may even be able to use your Soulbonds’ abilities/affinities.
The shared power between Master and Soulbond will increase alongside the firmness of our Soullink. That means if Glut learns something new about his powers, I will understand a portion of it as well. As long as our Soullink grows firmer, I will be able to understand more of Glut’s power. The firmness of our Soullink determines how much of his power I can use. I see.
His new Innate Ability was already worth more than the combined gains Leyla and the other Card Holders obtained. The Soul World was far more valuable than Xavier expected when he decided to endure the worst possible pain just to pick Tamer’s Desire as his Class Path. It was worth it.
However, the Innate Ability and his advancement to Stage-1 were only two benefits he received for having picked his Class Path. There was still more to explore!
Five Cards began to hover in the air in front of him. They were at his eye level so it was easy for him to inspect them. While four of them had the same silver color, the fifth one was different. It was a riot of colors, a rainbow splattered on the small Card’s surface. It was interesting to note that the four similar-looking silver cards had a faint link, a slightly shimmering hue around thread-like wisps that connected the cards. The rainbow Card had no such link tying it to the others.
If he had to pick a similarity in them, it would be that all four had a glossy, smooth surface that shone in the dim light around him.
The five Cards were the five Class Cards he was promised when he picked Tamer’s Desire as his Class Path. He’d expected something unique, but the link between the four Rare Cards and the unusual appearance of the fifth Card took him by surprise. His heart skipped a beat as excitement overcame him.
He reached out for the Cards and inspected them thoroughly.

Rare Card Set [Tamer Set] has been formed.
A bright light illuminated Xavier’s room as the last notifications popped up. The link between the four Silver Cards grew firmer and it was near impossible to pull them apart. Xavier was pretty sure he could tear the compressed mass of energy apart with brute force, but he hesitated.
Damaging the Card Set’s links will permanently destroy the Card Set!
“Oof. Yeah…I don’t want to do that.” He glanced at the last rainbow Card, but diverted his attention back to the Rare Card Set as a new notification popped up in front of him.

“Oh. Okay….” Xavier didn’t even understand half of what was written in front of him, but he figured that everything would make sense pretty soon.
He figured that the four Rare Cards were highly compatible with each other and that they were supposed to stay together, a set of Cards that couldn’t be separated anymore. It was also not too difficult to understand that he had to link all Cards to his Card Deck to use them. Even though some Cards may be less useful than others, Xavier didn’t have to think twice. He linked the Card Set to his Card Deck, inserting the Cards neatly into the bronze shimmering Deck.
Tamer Card Set has been linked to your Deck. Please prepare for the Influx of Information!
The influx of information didn’t bombard him immediately. A full minute of silence passed before Glut began to chirp wildly. The little Ember Sparrow was impatient and began to peck Xavier lightly. The bird’s fiery temper showed up again.
Xavier smiled at Glut and caressed the Ember Sparrow gently, only to be smacked with the massive influx of information all of a sudden. The sheer mass of information was tremendous. Xavier learned how to use each of his newly linked Rare Cards. His eyes began to itch while the energy accumulated within him was being drained.
If he hadn’t known that the Eye of Evolution required energy to make slight alterations to his eyes, Xavier would be panicking right now. But since he knew what the Eye of Evolution was doing to him, he could remain calm and composed.
The influx of information was not only about the four Rare Cards. It hinted at the benefits of a Card Set quite clearly.
Set Effect – Card Level of all linked Cards will be combined.
The Card Level of all linked Cards will be combined. That meant all Cards of the set were as powerful as they would be at Level 4 even though they were only at Level 1 respectively. Once one of the linked Cards increased to Level 2, every Card linked to the Tamer Card Set would be able to unleash the same power it would be able to use at Level 5.
If he focused on leveling up Nourish to Level 10, Xavier could still use Borrow as if it was a Level 13 Card since Nourish at Level 10 was linked to the Tamer Set, just like Level 1 Eye of Evolution, Level 1 Taming and Level 1 Borrow.
While that was already too good to be true, another thought appeared in his mind. He thought about the Air Bullet.
Will the Card Set transcend the Rare Cards’ limit? If that’s possible…should I start searching for more Card Sets? How rare are they?
Various thoughts flashed through Xavier’s mind, but one thing was for sure.
He had lucked out with his Class Path!
And there was still one more Card waiting for him to inspect.
His eyes landed on the rainbow-colored Card and he began to inspect it right away.
“...What the…”
