Do you wish to pick Tamer’s Path(Unique) as your Class Path?
“Yes!”
Finally, Xavier achieved what he had been working for in the last few weeks. His determination and hard work paid off!
Class Path has been chosen.
Initiate Classless Card Deck’s Upgrade.
…
Xavier didn’t feel much at first. The notifications flooded his view, but he was surrounded by nothing but complete silence. That was until Xavier heard a humming sound near his waist. He glanced down at his Classless Deck and removed it from his belt.
The leather deck had a coarse texture when he first found it. But with regular use the surface was now a little smooth. Signs of a bit of wear and tear were visible on its surface as it had withstood countless battles and rough handling by Xavier. The dark brownish color had now turned slightly paler, but the deck was as functional as it could be. Xavier watched the small leather box that had been his companion with a wry smile.
The Deck’s upgrade was soon initiated, and it seemed as if the leather box was eager to transform for it began to vibrate a little. Xavier brought it up to eye level and saw a faint hue of white light surrounding it. The little box continued to vibrate and transform as it changed in appearance. Now, he could see a metallic shine replacing the dull leather as it transformed into a brownish metal box. It did not weigh a lot and was a lot sturdier. However, Xavier was not surprised by the change as it seemed to be the norm. Almost everyone who had picked a Class Path had witnessed similar changes to their Deck.
Since his Class Path didn’t provide any additional points into his Foundation Orb, Xavier didn’t have to be concerned about the pain that accompanied the integration of his Foundation.
However, he gained an Innate Ability instead and that changed everything.
A sudden influx of energy seemed to smack him in the face, almost throwing him off-balance. Xavier’s back hit the edge of the table as he stood his ground, trying to assess the changes occurring within him. Other Card Holders had narrated their experiences earlier but still their description paled in comparison to the actual feeling. Xavier had always been a sharp person, but he noticed an increase in his sense of perception right away. He could not quite put a finger on it, but it was as if the world around him seemed to have changed in an instant.
His motivation and confidence received a boost and he suddenly felt as if he was here to stay, as if he, an ordinary human being amongst the sea of other humans, was exceptionally important. He had lived an ordinary life so far, but the apocalypse had changed it. Despite being quite young to the other survivors, he had been the one to lead them all in many missions and emerge successful several times.
But now, he felt a rush of energy surge up inside him, writhing restlessly like a livewire. It told him that he was meant to do great things and that he would reshape his destiny.
However, there was more to it in Xavier’s case. He could sense that his actions and existence were more impactful than before, and that they would have a bigger influence on the outside world, but that was not all.
It felt like something touched his insides, almost as if someone tried to grasp something that wasn’t physical…as if someone grasped his Soul…and altered it. Xavier was not sure why he felt it with such certainty, but he did.
Xavier looked down at his chest as if that would help but it did nothing. Following the bursts of motivation and heightened sense of perception, he felt a slight discomfort in the center of his chest. Surprisingly, it was not physical. But something more of a spiritual nature. He wasn’t sure how he knew this, he just…knew.
His Soul, the purest form of life that made him who he was, was being altered. Xavier had never felt his Soul or the feeling. If somebody asked him to describe the feeling or sensation, he would certainly do a poor job of it.
One wasn’t even supposed to sense his or her Soul the first time that such changes occurred, right? He was not too sure of it. Xavier closed his eyes and tried to concentrate better on the things happening inside him. He ignored his surroundings and Glut while growing more conscious and aware of his Soul’s existence.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
The feeling was both confusing and exhilarating. He could sense the formation of something within him, a miniature world that belonged to him. His subconscious took a peek inside and saw a beautiful scenery filled with calm and tranquility, a vast space that seemed to have no end.
The discomfort of his overflowing Foundation Orb decreased gradually. It was not an instantaneous change, but Xavier felt that his Foundation Orb reached a new level. The heavy toll that had weighed down on his very existence didn’t crush him anymore. Instead, Xavier’s being was fueled with energy and strength. His body began to adapt to his Foundation Orb now that it was not overflowing anymore.
The Foundation Stars’ true power assimilated within Xavier, at last.
Nobody could really tell what this feeling was for sure. His father thought that a Stage-0 Card Holder represented the natural limit of humans. He told Xavier to pick a Class Path to transcend the limitations of the human race to give his overflowing Foundation more space to grow and improve.
Meanwhile, his grandmother said that the burden weighing on his Soul grew too heavy as the mass of Soul Essences that altered/improved his body increased.
All they could say for sure was that a Foundation of 300 points was the upper limit for a Human Card Holder at Stage-0. One more Soul Essence and Xavier would have killed himself.
A smile blossomed on his face. His Foundation orb advanced, allowing him to integrate more Soul Essences without feeling like he was going to be torn apart. That was one of the most important aspects of his advancement. He could grow stronger again!
Just wait for me, Dad! I will wipe the floor with you the next time you talk bad about my Class Path!
Xavier snickered and slumped back onto the bed. He felt great, and instinctively manifested the information of his Card Deck to read through.
Unique Class Deck
Tamer’s Desire
Stage-1 Card Holder
Connected Cards: 9
Total Card Slots: 35
General Cards 25
Class Cards 10
Innate Ability: Soul World
Stored Soul Essences: 0
Damn!
Xavier knew that Tamer’s Desire was going to be a great choice, but after weeks of hard work he had forgotten how exceptional his Unique Class Path was.
Most Card Holders obtained only two General Card Slots and maybe three Class Card Slots. Even Leyla obtained only five General Card Slots and five Class Card Slots from her Rare Magical Archer Path. That was already a lot compared to the rest.
Meanwhile, Xavier obtained a total of 25 Card Slots from his advancement to Stage-1 that including 15 General Card Slots and 10 Class Card Slots.
However, Xavier didn’t obtain any points in his Foundation Stars like Leyla. She was granted 50 Agility and 50 Dexterity from picking the Magical Archer Path.
The specific upgrades confused many. Some Card Holders had been wondering why Leyla didn’t obtain any Wisdom, or Energy points since her Class Path was not that of a mere Archer, but a Magical Archer instead.
But then again, Xavier’s benefits were the most confusing. Nobody dared to say anything to Xavier who had been overly confident that he wouldn’t obtain a single point into his Foundation Orb for choosing his Unique Class Path.
At this point, many considered him a maniac. Even Xavier felt like that sometimes. However, he obtained far more Card Slots than anyone else, in addition to an Innate Ability.
Soul World.
Xavier didn’t know the name of his Innate Ability before. However, one of the many reasons for him to pick the Unique Class Path over the several Rare Class Paths he’d been offered was the Innate Ability.
He couldn’t be certain about the benefits of the Innate Ability, but Innate indicated that the ability would become a part of Xavier. It would belong to him in essence and being.
In retrospect, Innate Ability indicated that the ability would grow stronger as Xavier grew in strength. At least, that was what Xavier sincerely hoped for.
