Chapter 9: A monster's war part 2 {Preview}

I think I always knew. When it came to the stories, the tales my parents and the elders of my village told me helped me realize that I wasn't a main character. I don't think I ever wanted to be, but I had a gift, a power that made it feel like I could make a difference in this world, even though it tended to creep people out. (Bug)

Bug grew up in a small town in the center of thee old United states. if was connected to a small forest, not by choice, nature just continued to grow after humans abandoned it. They weren't controlled by any kingdom but they did receive funding's and help from the Last Frontier. It was a sort of deal, something that Mabel would do when they found a living community, if they allowed travelers to pass by, and even rest. They helped put them on their map and in returned, allowed Bug's community to gain currency, which they can use to purchase what ever they needed from the Last Frontier.

Everyone's lives were peaceful compared to how Ivan grew up. The village didn't have to fend for themselves and people with abilities weren't regarded as monsters even if only a few people actually had abilities. It wasn't forced but they high appreciated it if people with abilities helped deal with the soulless.

"What's the matter Nathan?" (Bug's dad)

"The other kids keep on saying I have a gross power. They hate when I use it but I don't even mean to." (Bug)

Bugs real name was Nathan, short for Nathanial. He didn't have a good grasp on his power which was to control bugs. He had an ability which would release pheromones from his body that attracts nearby bugs towards him.

"It happened by accident again... If only mom was here." (Bug)

"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Oh, by the way, I was able to make some tasty bread, bring this over to Izzy and her family as a token for all the honey they made for us." (Bug's dad)

"Sure" (Bugs)

Bug's mom was what most would call a mage with out the skills, she had magical abilities but she wasn't trained in the ways. Her death happened when their family was traveling, looking for a home until they encountered a horde. A simple bite caused their whole world to go upside down and yet Bug's father accomplished her last wish, to find him a home.

Although kids picked on him, he wasn't without friends, as mentioned before, the village he stayed in shared it's home with a forest which housed a unique species of people. Unless one actually researched their kind, they would simply mistake them for another half-blood. You see, magic gave human the ability to shape shift but there were some blood lines they could never get unless they shared it. For example, wolves, werewolves and so on. For this group of people, they were known as fairies. They resembled butterflies but only in the wings and the fact that they can shrink their bodies.

"Izzy, where are you?" (Bug)

He walked through the forest, calling out to the girl but no one answered. He sighed and pretended to turn around until something or someone decided to land on his head.

"Nathan, how dare you almost leave with those snacks!" (Izzy)

Izzy was very unique, her people were all the same, wings and the ability to shrink. I don’t know if she only liked me cause of my powers, not that I would ever call them bugs but still... she was kind to me and my father. (Bug)

He stared endlessly at the girl walking in circles on his palm, even though she was complaining and lecturing him, he didn't seem to care. Was it love? Who could say. When she finally stopped, she couldn't help but blush, transforming into a normal size kid as she head butted him in the face.

"Those kids! If I ever see them poking around here, I will end them myself!" (Izzy)

"Thanks Izzy" (Bug)

My life was normal, sure we had to deal with the occasional bandits and the dead but it was fine. My dad was a baker but would sometimes help out as a scavenger. The Last Frontier also helped establish a sort of guild where one could accomplish work and get paid but he never did anything too dangerous. Yes, my life was normal until they showed up... (Bug)

Bug ran through the town as it was engulfed in flames, people screamed, pushed, and trampled over one another as the dead approached. When he tripped, he noticed one of them approaching as its shadow slowly consumed his body, suddenly, his father came bashing its head.

"Bug, where did you run off too? I told you if anything ever happened, we would meet at the house." (Bugs father)

"Sorry, I was looking for you... Dad... the forest is on fire." (Bug)

He looked as the flamed ravaged on, the sounds of everyone echoing in his head, they continued on, even up to the present.

"Bug, you alright?" (Alex)

"Sorry, I must have been spacing out..." (Bug)

The way everything is going, the destruction... To make such memories resurface... Its kind of funny in a way... how the tables have turned. (Bug)

"It's time went went in, no more distraction. Lets rescue our friends and find a new beginning." (Alex)

He's right... No more going back to the past. I gained allies now. With them, I can be much stronger. In with that strength... I'll be able to face her." (Bug)

The Image of a girl popped into his mind, the person who cause all his pain and cause him to live the life he living now. The person who killed his father and everyone he knew. It was the warden, the one who found him, but a corpse and those that followed her. He could barely make out her name but she had a look he'd never forget; white hair and green eyes.

The Last Frontier

Everyone was running around the palace halls within the the Last Frontier. After the explosion, citizens were panicking and Abigail had to focus all her attention there. New intel was coming in about the leader of New Beginning making his way to their city. A man by the name of Alex and after a short confrontation, he was now on the world. To make things worse, she now learn that mages were assisting him and have started attack specific location that were connect to the inner circle. every place except for one, her own home.

"What's the current situation.

"Akira's family shrine has been saved. It seems his sister was there and she took out every person who tried to attack." (?)

---------------------------------

Akira's estate

Out side of his families home, stood a girl, looking over the bodies she had killed. She was his younger sister named, Yuki. A girl who was said to have the ability to control multiple spirits. While her men cleaned up the mess, they reported that all them were mages and regular humans. It was to be expected until one human was found with a tattoo of a gun.

"Interesting. So we do have traitors among us. I should probably report this to Abby... Well you can all get some sleep now. Thank you for your hard work." (Yuki)

It looked as if she was waving at her men but in reality, she was waving at the spirits assisting. They were invisible until she called out to them. Every creature in all shapes and forms appeared, when she wave at the sky, a dragon appeared. its body was as long as 4 football fiends.

------------------------------------

"I want to know what kind of strategy was the enemy using and if it's been the same method at the other locations." (Abigail)

"Well... It seems their number has been just below the teens. They attacked and then tried to retreat." (?)

It wasn't much information but it was enough for Abigail to come up with a reason why they were fighting like this.

"They don't have enough manpower. Clearly their waiting for New Beginning to make their way here or is it something else entirely?" (Abigail)

The leader was spotted but he didn't have any mages in his group or... At least if he did, there was no way for him to recruit this many.. especially the additional collaborators with them. He must have had help. No that has to be it, how else would he target the shrine where Akira worship the spirits who serve him and his family? (Abigail)

"Who else did they target?"

"They tried targeted Raymond home but his vampires took them out. The explosion we saw in that direction was actually them being stopped prior to getting there. It seems the enemy isn't planting bombs but rather, sending in clay dolls with bombs attached. Then we have Sir Gomez's turf but Los Suenos had already established the assassination units around since they were already having trouble with a nearby gang. Also..." (?)

Abigail already had a vein appearing on her forehead from the news she was receiving, once the guard paused and said there was one more thing to discuss rather than just reporting everything, threw her over the edge.

"You see... There was one attempt that felt abnormal..." (?)

"Spit it out!" (Abigail)

"They tried to target a school. The Royal Academia but they were stopped by the nephew of the Short Fuse brothers and Gomez's little brother when they tried ditching school. Luckily everyone followed our orders and went into lockdown." (?)

---------------------------

The Royal Academia: Principle office

Currently the principle of the school was sitting down with three students. The student body president and the two trouble makers who not only saved the school from being attacked, the only problem was...

"The school was on lockdown! You shouldn't have been out in the first place! on top of that!" (School Principle)

"Sir if I may... If it weren't for them, many students and teachers would be hurt or worse" (Student president)

"Yea exactly, we were simply doing our job. After all, our family is..." (?)

"Hey I don't think that's why he's mad. After all..." (??)

"Shut up! Both of you! You broke the rules by trying to sneak out during a lockdown and to make things worse. You snuck in weapons onto to school grounds!" (Principle)

"But I mean... Its a bb gun." (?)

"Yea and this is just a small knife... For self defense" (??)

"ELIJAH! CARLOS! DETENTION! STARTING NEXT WEEK!" (Principle)

------------------------------------

"They attacked Elijah's school but not his home... Asa matter of fact, they haven't attack my home either... Is this part of some bigger plan or are they choosing at random or is it... " (Abigail)

"My Lady?" (?)

"Notify the Short Fuse brothers. They might have a traitor in their ranks." (Abigail)

Just when Abigail issued that order, a spirit came into her office through the walls with a message confirming that she was right.

--------------------------------------

The Last Frontier: Teleportation door.

Since the connection of the two kingdoms began, There has been one large door near the Short fuse's section of the city, whereas the Lost City positioned theirs on the outskirts of their walls. The difference between the two was that one door was surrounded by large trees and the people would exit out onto a large bridge that went straight into the city. Of course they would have to pass the security check which was the outer wall. There was no going towards another direction because of the barrier as well as the spirit that protected the forest and would eventually lead you back to the wall. The Short Fuse brother's and their many faction that had names relating to guns, didn't own their section of the city like vampires but rather protected it. A sort of governing if you'd believe it and when the people exited that door, they would be lead into a type of station. A very large building that either took them towards that city square or towards other types of transportation connecting to other sections of the city. Of course, Immigration and security would be waiting.

During the other attacks, even though they failed, were still going according to Ivan's plan. He had one thing left to do, taking out the teleportation gate. The question was how he planned on doing it? Now that he received the signal which was Tobias's men attacking random location with the help of hired guns, he could now change his focus, luckily for Ivan, Tobias made sure his group was the faction protecting the gate and when they got attacked, as easy as it would be, they would report an ambush from all directions, consisting members from New Beginning.

"Now my people can fight without worrying about the Magic queen and the Last Frontier. Good luck my friends." (Ivan)

Ivan watched as explosion erupted from the gate, causing it to fall. He vanished into the city with out looking back with the hopes of escaping the city all together and into the open world.

------------------------------------------------------------

Chronicler Domain: Prison

The Chronicler's prison had a basic design to it. Nothing really changed prior to it becoming an official location for juvenile delinquents. Other then additional buildings being built for housing space, Liz made sure it was the inside of the prison that required remodeling. It contained 4 large buildings for housing, each separated by walls leading into a courtyard. Only 2 out 4 buildings contained half breeds. A term used by higher races, regardless of who they were mixed with. In this case, humans mixed with mages. It was very rare for them to be able to utilize magic but a majority of them would be born with an inner magic type of abilities such as animal shape shifters, psychics, changing ones DNA and sometimes even abilities that resembled magic. Other then them, contained people with different abilities and traits that were passed down through pure bloodlines like Alex and Chris. The building housing them were structured to have labs and rooms to best suit and study their abilities. They also wore collars designed by Allister to completely stop the use of powers. The warden's building was on the other side of the court yard and was the one remain building stopping everyone from leaving.

Liz designed a special lab beneath her building which house people with abilities that were considered dangerous although, it was unknown if the people themselves were good or evil. It took a while for Gabriel to figure this out since she destroyed all the documents and the people working under here that dealt with Jorge and the others had their minds erased. 2 things were a mystery to him, how did they lose their memories? and was those people the only ones who knew about the half breeds circumstances? Gabriel figured out that Liz must have stored their memories using their families abilities which was another reason to finally go into the library. The second was by chance, when he continued his investigation and stumbled on workers who had hidden their identities. They didn't fight or deny what they had been doing, their only response was "She told us you would come here by chance eventually." and then they gave up everything except who and what they were because that too was erased. When king William was informed, he told him to keep it under wraps, not knowing that Alex came from their and would later attack it.

"Alright, before we go in. Who did we bring with us? Who are you taking with you?" (Alex)

Alex, needed confirmation that Bug knew what he was doing and who he was bringing with him. While Alex focused one taking the guard and securing a safe route for his captured friends, one group would target the electronic systems in order to disable the collars and doors containing them. Bug and his group would head to the underground floors and free the unknown people below the prison.

"I have Butters with me. She can transform into a fairy, she'll sneak passed everyone during the commotion. Ifrit can by my fire power, I got my bugs, and then there's Size, she can enlarge my bugs and make them into monsters." (Bug)

"Good. and the ones freeing everyone?" (Alex)

"Electro can hack into the systems like he did when we debut ourselves and well... I've told you his name but the giant baldly who saved you and Jorge will protect him. Then we have Vanish who will lead them straight there... I would have preferred to have her with me but vampires would still find us with their nose so... yea. That's the team." (Bug)

"Sounds good. When you're ready, give the signal." (Alex)

Bug places his hands up in the air, and like sending a signal out, bug from the out forest took to the sky's and made their way to the prison. It let everyone know that the waves were no longer needed and it was all hands on deck. The girl known as Size humored herself self and began increasing the size of the surrounding bugs. She was able to touch things but also shoot out and invisible force to enlarge the surrounding area.

----------------------------------------------

"Please... Let me go..." (?)

"Sorry but I have a rule. You didn't kill me but that was your goal... So I guess it still counts?" (Allister)

While Allister made his way around the prison to make sure no entrances were made by the enemy, he left bodies behind as he sliced them with his sword. One person was finally able to make hit him with a gun but missed their kill shot. It was good for Allister, he wouldn't be killed even if he was shot in the head, but the cost was that he'd grow younger with every death. After piercing the random guy's heart, he couldn't help but notice the sun being blocked out.

"What is that? Bugs?" (Allister)

The took over the sky and eventually even the lower floors. He was able to precisely cut them but was force to set up a sort of force field around himself because of their over whelming numbers. He wasn't born with Psychic abilities, but it was a gift that came with having a demon inside him. Within all the bugs, was on large fly, making its way towards him.

While that was happening, Emma was fast enough to spot them from afar and issued orders to any nearby mages who can use fire magic to burn them down. She used her arrows to target the larger insects but they couldn't stopped the ones that were specifically ordered to target anyone with guns.

"Dam, since when did they grow to be this big?" (Emma)

They surrounded the prison eventually heading towards the center, Bree was knocking out New Beginning members left and right but one thing she hated most was bugs, and the last thing she wanted was to face them.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" (Bree)

As she ran and ran, Bree dove into the entrance of a nearby building, holding the smaller bugs back.

"Dam, just when I was getting in the groove. I hate killing guys so even if they had bad intentions, I refused to kill Jorge and Chris's friends. Thankfully I'm a vampire or else this would suck." (Bree)

As she justified her own reason for not killing any one to herself, the door and a portion of the wall connect to it was blown off when a giant caterpillar came crawling in.

"You've go to be kidding me!" (Bree)

------------------------------------

Beneath the prison, Lisa was looking into the tubes that contained the prize Bug wanted. No names were shown, and the casing themselves were frozen over that she couldn't even make out their faces.

"Sister, what were you up to? Was all of this just a part of your plan? or just one of the many outcomes you had seen? Did I fail your expectations?"

A guard came running in, report on the situation happening outside but was cut short when he was cover in flames.

"You got here pretty quick." (Lisa)

The under ground prison was set up to be very different from the out side. Once you enter, their would be a large room with a ceiling reaching high the hall ways its self, and the casing containing the humans were position on the walls ahead of the said hallways. On the sides were machines and computers. The source of power was unknown, possibly something to do with magic but it showed how far Liz's advancements were in the prison compared to the Lost City prior to receiving help from the other Cities. The collar was another indication of that as well. When Lisa turn to face her the intruders, she found 3 people standing before her.

"Watch out guys, she's a noble and she can turn her own blood into iron itself." (Bug)

Spending no more time on words, Lisa kicked of from the ground, looking as if she was flying just above the ground. Bug ordered Size to enlarge his insects as two beetles and one worm moved to get in between them.

"Regardless of their size, bugs are still bugs." (Lisa)

She continued on, scratching herself and using the blood spilling out to turn it into an Iron malice. When she reached the first beetle, she used her first and smashed it into the membrane, when the next one came, she swung the Iron malice like a bat , splashing guts and blood everywhere.

"You want a piece of me too?" (Lisa)

When Lisa faced the worm in front of her, the man known as Ifrit activated his power, turning his arms into fire itself. Bug plan was to now overwhelm her with s, hoping it would be a good enough distraction. He felt confident but it all crumbled away when he looked at his friend, signaling cover her in fire while she was fighting, only to see his head present for one second and then disappearing. Behind the body of his friend was the same iron malice Lisa was using, pinned to the wall as it still had remains of the head it had taken all over it.

"No..." (Bug)

"What? You thought this would be easy? You forget who I am. vampire are stronger than you think. We simply go easy out of respect for humans and to look cool... I figured he'd be hard to kill if I let him fully turn, I hope I was right." (Lisa)

Lisa held the worm at bay with a single arm, When she squeezed with her hand, the shock was sent across it's entire body making it exploded.

--------------------------------------------------

While that was happening, Allister continued his fight, before he knew it, he stood on top of a mountain of insects. Bug ability allowed him to control them, but only while he was focused. During his fight with Lisa, that connection was broken and all of the smaller insects dispersed. Gun fire started to die down, signifying that both sides were successful, the only issue now for Allister was New Beginning member, their abilities and the large bus who were now no longer afraid of humans since they looks like dinner in their eyes.
