Mehmet saw Hatice running in the schoolyard. Bullet wounds only made bruises to the skin, according to the power calculation, which meant Hatice was a tier three superhuman.
Mehmet said, "Tisk tisk, what a wasted potential." The police's behavior showed Mehmet that the government still didn't have a device to detect superhumans. That meant if he could gain power, he didn't need to fear getting caught while not using powers.
Kamil asked Mehmet, "Wow, this means what happened to Merve wasn't an accident. What a wonderful way to get back at your bully." Mehmet nodded. And said, "She panicked if she wasn't. Nothing was going to come out of this." Kamil said, "Yes, what a pity."
On that day, school gets dismissed for the day. Mehmet walked out and looked for a place to meditate; he noticed not everywhere had the same energy density.
He found a beggar right in front of the best energy-gathering place he found in an hour of walking and searching around. He said to the beggar, "Buzz off. I am going to sit here." Beggar laughed, and small claws appeared on his hand. "You want to try?"
Mehmet said, "Buzz off, or I will call the cops, and I am pretty sure you are not registered." The beggar said, "You figured it out, too; you can get stronger by absorbing energy; I don't have to be a pathetic tier one if I can gather more energy." Mehmet said, "I am not even tier one, but I want to be; how much time it takes to become one?" The beggar said, "No, I started as tier one, and with this speed, three months on this spot could make me tier two.
Mehmet said, "Too bad, you need to find somewhere else." The beggar said, "You are not very smart, aren't you? You told me you are not even tier one. Who says I would just kill you? Now buzz off!"
Mehmet started to walk away; he wasn't stupid enough to fight with a super, at least without a weapon.
Mehmet searched around the city for two hours more, but nowhere had the same energy density as the spot beggar sat. He finds somewhere half as good as the spot. He sat there and began meditating.
People looked weirdly at the big, unattractive boy who was in school uniform sitting in a place doing nothing. Mehmet didn't care what people thought. He just sat there and meditated. Soon he found himself in a groove. He noticed he had just missed being a tier-one superhuman by a small margin. End of the day, he wasn't a tier one, he was too weak to be one, but he was a superhuman. He easily moved around a small coin with his mind. His power was just enough to do that, but he was happy. He guessed in the right spot. He could gain tier-one superpowers in a month.
He returned home and told his father, "Dad, I will drop out of school." His father looked at his son and said, "Please don't tell me the superhuman stuff on the school freaked you out." Mehmet said, "No, I can earn more money without going to school." His father smiled and said, "If you can earn half my salary in a week, you are allowed to drop out of school."
Mehmet smiled and said, "Ok, Dad, you got a deal." Mehmet sat on his computer and searched for things he could make money with his new power. He was planning to scam arcade places of their gifts, but he found something even better on the internet. A backgammon tournament.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
He registered for the backgammon tournament and then went to his spot. He started meditateing. Right then and there, Kamil comes into his mind. He called Kamil and said, "Buddy, from tomorrow onboard, I am not going to school." Kamil said, "Without you who is going to protect me?" Mehmet said, " Tell your parents you are too afraid to attend school. Say you going to get your education with distance education." Kamil said, "Ok, I will try, and I will try it hard but why did you drop out of school?" Mehmet said, "I am giving you a secret. I have a plan to gain superpowers. Tell no one," Kamil laughed out loud. "If I told, nobody would believe me."
Mehmet continued meditating. Tomorrow, he was going to cheat his way to the backgammon tournament.
Mehmet got to the tournament place, which was a coffee house. Everybody grouped up, and the tournament started.
First, turn, Mehmet was against a middle-aged dude. They started playing, and Mehmet won without cheating. The next match was against a girl. Mehmet started to play regularly, and things began to go bad for him. The girl said, "You are going to lose. I bet 100 dollars." (Dollars are not used in Turkey, but I will use dollars for understandability.) Mehmet smiled and said, "Ok, your loss." she suddenly started to freak out. "How did all your dice come out exactly like you wanted?" Mehmet said, "luck." But in truth, he was moving his dices with his power.
The day goes by, and Mehmet wins the tournament. He won around a thousand bucks which was more than his father's salary. He returned home with the money and showed it to his father. "Dad, a deal is a deal, and I achieved my part of the bargain." With a sour face, his father says, "Ok, I will let you not go to school every month. You can bring home half of my salary as rent." Then took away 450 bucks. Mehmet said, "Dad, your rent isn't expensive?" His father laughed. "I want you to return the school. That is the deal. If you don't want to pay, you can return to school.
Mehmet took the remaining money, and first, he bought Kevlar fabric from the internet. Later he got into the dark web. In Turkey, buying guns is very hard if you want to carry them and moderately hard if you only want to keep them in your home. But rules resulted in contraband. The most common way of dealing with gun law and getting guns is buying a turned blank fire pistol. These were simple blowback pistols that used low-powered cartridges (if you hate your life, you could use 9 mm parabellum, but that is too hot of a round, and your cheap blank fire pistol will blow to your face). Mehmet bought short 9mm (380acp for Americans) firing a converted gun.
He meets in person with the gun salesman, who pay by hand. But his kevlar fabric next day comes to his home. With great effort and his mother's help, Mehmet made a full-body gambeson out of Kevlar. That took an entire week for Mehmet. When his armor was ready, he donned it. He took his flick knife on himself, and middle of the day, he left for the beggar's spot.
He found the beggar on the spot. He put a handkerchief on his front seemed like he was sleeping while begging. But in reality, he was awake and meditating and cultivating.
Mehmet raised his pistol and targeted right at the body. He fired his gun, but the relatively weak bullet didn't penetrate all the way to the superhuman. The beggar raised up, he was wounded, but he got his claws out and jumped at Mehmet. Mehmet fired once more and quickly pulled out his flick knife. The superhuman clawed him, but his Kevlar gambeson protected him; while getting clawed, Mehmet used his knife on the beggar's guts. After a few stabs, the superhuman started to beg, "No, I let you go. You must not kill me." Mehmet said, "Ok, I will let you live, but here is my spot from now on. Beggar gathered some energy and said, " How long will it take you to become tier one?" He said, "Only one month." The beggar said, "In two weeks, I will be fully healed. You got my place unfairly. I will give you one mouth, no, one and a half month after that, I will challenge you to a fight. You can keep this spot if you can beat me fair and square." Mehmet said, "Deal." Beggar left there, and Mehmet started to meditate right then and there.
