Entry #2

Well, I’m back for entry two. It’s been a few days, but I’m giving it another go.

If I’m being honest, it really did help to talk about my day. It was a good release, I guess.

So nice… that I felt like recording the first one had done the job and I didn’t need to do another. That is, until She found me and reminded me to continue.

I was at the library, working on the computer, when I noticed two people making a scene behind a bookshelf. I took a better look and recognized her immediately.

She was—well, I wouldn’t call it arguing with—more like fussing at this large, bear-like man. It was kinda funny to watch. All the power of her, barely, five foot something frame was placed into wagging her finger in his face; as if he couldn’t just lift her up and place her on top of the bookshelf like a doll.

I watched him stand there stubbornly, letting her rant about god knows what… Whatever it was, I could tell he was trying hard not to laugh, making this interaction even more interesting to watch.

Once she was done, I noticed her glance in my direction. His eyes followed.

I’m pretty sure they were talking about me.

As intimidating as that sounds, it didn’t frighten me. Did my stomach flip? Yes, but it was more out of excitement than fear… it's hard to explain.

Anyways, before I knew it, she was sitting next to me at the computer, and we were back in conversation as if we hadn’t missed a beat. It was so easy that I hardly even noticed the burly man hovering over her… but he didn’t seem to mind.

We talked about what I’d been up to in the last couple days since we met, and about how my journaling was going—I didn’t lie, but I ended up feeling bad about not continuing.

She asked about my studies and offered help if I needed any, which was very kind. She didn’t owe me anything, but there she was, not only taking an interest, but genuinely caring.

She also… offered me a job.

Yeah, I know, it’s crazy, but she knows my situation and made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

She said she needed a new assistant and remembered I lost my job, so she came to the library hoping to find me and offer me the position.

I thought she was joking… but then she told me about the pay and incentives, and suddenly I thought I was dreaming.

$500 a week! Plus, she would pay for room and board since I’d be traveling with her basically 24/7. She said she moves around a lot, and if that’s a deal breaker, she would understand.

But, it really isn’t. I have nothing holding me anywhere, and I’ve always wanted to travel—You know, I’m starting to see why she asked me.

At first, I didn’t understand. Why me? But, I guess it makes sense when I think about the commitment needed to be an assistant that’s available 24/7.

I really hope I can do the job. I’m a high school dropout, even though I was good at school. In fact, my teachers were completely against me dropping out; but at the time, it had to be done. I wouldn’t say I’m uneducated, but on paper… It looks like I’m uneducated. I hope I don’t let her down.

I’ll find out more about the job tomorrow. She wants to meet at the coffee shop to talk more about it. She’s giving me time to think about her offer, but now I’m worried she’ll have second thoughts…

Whatever, I can’t worry about that. Everything will work out… I have to believe it will.

And I have to make sure to get her name! What is wrong with me?!
