Chapter 3: Trapped

Chapter 3: Trapped

I kept my eyes closed and thoughts focused and decided to simply listen. I heard what sounded like talking between the two snake ladies who had saved me. However it wasn’t in a language I would have any chance of understanding. Useless thoughts flitted through my head as I was carried. I suppose it makes sense if they speak a different language… Damn that’s gonna make communication a lot harder though.

Shortly after their conversation came to an end leaving me in a nervous silence. The ride wasn’t comfortable, especially with my wounds, but at the very least I wasn’t dead. I reopened my eyes to see where they were taking me. A wall made of wood and greenery was the sight that greeted me. It seemed largely held together by vines and basic craftsmanship. The makeshift gate was opened by another snake lady, allowing us inside. We passed through the gate and I looked around the small village.

While my vantage point wasn’t ideal, I was at least able to get a general idea of where I was. I seemed to be in a tribal village of some sort. However it was surprisingly empty, I only saw a few snake people relaxing in the warm light produced by the massive crystal embedded in the roof. They were laying over boulders, with seemingly handcrafted blankets beneath them and seemed to be sleeping soundly in the artificial sunlight produced by the crystals in the massive cave’s roof. There were a few houses which were made out of materials to the wall as well as one especially large house. I was carried to a smaller house made out of what seemed to be mud and unceremoniously thrown inside. The snake woman that had killed the monster said something to me while looking at me crumpled on the floor.

I responded by staring, tilting my head, and attempting to understand what she said. Seeing my response she simply sighed and pushed a large stone in front of the entrance. Seeing as I was trapped in here I decided to try and get a better look at my wounds. They were incredibly tender and seemed to still be bleeding. I took off what was left of my torn shirt and tore the remains into pieces.Wincing in pain throughout the process. I attempted to tie the shredded shirt around my wounds with moderate success. The white was quickly dyed red but the blood flow had stemmed somewhat. I put my head on the cold dirt floor and lied down, staring blankly at the mud roof while trying to endure the pain. My thought process was messy due to the pain so I decided to simply rest while I could.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Time passed slowly as I tried to rest, the pain was exhausting me mentally yet my anxiety at what would happen next as well as the irritating pain kept me awake. Eventually though the boulder they were using as a door was pushed to the side letting the light in, it seemed much less bright at this point in the day for some reason. Not sure how that works with crystals.

Anyways, my eyes adjusted and I saw the same snake lady that had saved me earlier, the one with white hair, as well as a larger snake lady that had a large wooden staff with strange inscriptions carved into it. She had vibrant green hair and narrow yellow eyes and was wearing an intricately made tribal outfit adorned with large crystal beads.

She said something to me in a commanding voice while pointing at my wounds. She then gestured for me to come closer. I cautiously approached and she pointed at the ground when I got closer. Does she want me to grovel? Or sit down? I’d assume she just wants me to lay down so she can treat my wounds but that’s a best case scenario. What would they stand to gain from helping me? Fuck it, I’ll just lay down and see what happens. My brain is too fried to think deeply on this.

I tentatively sat down, wincing as I moved my legs. She untied my makeshift bandages and closely looked at the wounds. I stayed as still as possible, nervously glancing around. After a few long seconds she nodded to herself before aiming her staff directly at me. She stared directly into my eyes, said something and a strange energy burst out from the staff and into me before I could react.

It felt similar to the green energy I had collected earlier, it felt like growth and life as it poured into me. I had trouble breathing under the weight of the energy. It felt as if I was being crushed by the pressure. As my breath grew more labored I slowly felt my body heating up. It started off as feeling slightly warm and grew until it felt as if I was burning hot. It felt especially hot around the wounds.

What the hell did she do to me… The heat increased until it was unbearable and yet I couldn’t move, I was still trapped under the pressure of the massive amount of energy entering and circulating through my body. Eventually the heat grew too hot to bear and I felt my consciousness slipping. Shit, I hope this doesn’t become a habit. Was my last thought before slipping into unconsciousness.
