Short Hiatus

Short Hiatus

Death permeated everything. Both sides were caught in a bloody slaughter that slowly but surely dwindled their numbers. Meaning while the strong rain continued and washed everything away, almost as if the world pretended that everything was normal.

Charge after charge the dragons slammed into the tight defensive structures and tens of them gave their lives to allow the others a short span of unobstructed attacking. They forcefully suppressed the defensive arrays and squeezed through small openings in the defense lines to go on a wild rampage in the enemy lines and kill as many human gods as possible before finally succumbing and dying beneath the hand of another.

As cruel as the slaughter was there wasn’t a single deserter on both sides. Even after seeing thousands of their fellow gods, beings that had lived multiple lifespans worth of time, they continued to bravely charge against each other and hold their positions against the mad onslaughter.

Suddenly a deep sound echoed across the battlefield and for the moment the fighting stalled. A large horn was blown and gave the order for the second wave to engage into the enemy lines.

10000 dwarves immediately went into formation, forming a small sea of metal plates and war axes as they charged forward. At the very front of their assault was Mr. Sherevile, clad in a golden armor and wielding his infamously giant axe. A bloodthirsty smile played on his lips as he cleanly cut the first god into two halves.

“KILL ALL OF THESE LITTLE BITCHES!”, he laughed madly. There was nothing that remembered of his usual politeness.

The assault of the dwarven gods used its momentum and a powerful ancient dwarf magic to bypass the fighting dragons and destroy a whole row of defensive arrays, uncovering a few thousands gods behind them and making them more or less defenseless against the full-blown attack of the dwarves.

Mr. Sherevile had transformed into a god of slaughter as he swung his axe around and cleared a path through the enemy rows and quickly led the dwarves and dragons to kill the remaining gods that had been left outside the second row of defenses.

Tian quickly joined him as they led both the dragons and the dwarves into this one-sided killing.

In a single charge they managed to kill about 5000 gods while only suffering a little over a hundred causalities. Of course, this was a onetime opportunity as in order to break the defensive arrays they had had to rely on a powerful and difficult to activate magic. At least during this war there would not be another one-sided battle like this.
