A Disciples Fate
The Shorai Skirmish

The Shorai Skirmish

A few days have passed since the Raffles Circus mission. It's has now been officially announced that Yuma is not a Kizoku anymore and Sky took his place. Yuma’s whereabouts are still unknown.

All teams have finished their missions. Only a few of the teams failed their missions leading them to get stripped off their Shorai rank.

A ceremony is being held for the teams who completed their missions. Friends and family are welcome too. Everyone also gets a chance to meet different captains.

The dress code is to look smart and classy. The boys wear suits while the girls wear glamorous dresses.

Kuragami’s team enter the a hall rented for them all in Danketsu City. There’s traditional disciple music playing. Everyone is dancing. They all look excited.

“This place is amazing! I always love visiting Danketsu.”

Homura smiles.

“I mean, it’s not called the happiest place in the world for no reason.”

“You’re right. Hey, what about you Kura?”

Cherry looks back.

“Kura?”

Kuragami has gone to a table with waffles and started eating.

The three of them face palm.

“His love for waffles.”

“I swear.”

They walk up to Kuragami. Cherry grabs his hand.

“Enough eating Kura, let’s dance!”

Kuragami smiles. They both go to the dancing crowd and dance together.

As they’re dancing, someone taps Kuragami’s shoulder. He turns around and sees Kiyoko.

“Kiyo. So you guys passed your mission too?”

“Yeah.”

Kiyoko looks away nervous.

“That’s cool.”

They both just stand there in awkward silence.

Cherry goes to them and puts her arm over Kuragami.

“So, who’s the girlfriend?!”

Kuragami looks at Cherry annoyed.

“This is Kiyoko. She’s a childhood friend of mine. Kiyoko, this is-”

Cherry puts her hand out.

“I’m Cherry! Hey, you look so cute in that blue dress. It matches your hair.”

Kiyoko shakes her hand and smiles.

“Thanks! You look good too.”

Kuragami looks around.

“Say Kiyoko, where’s the rest of you?”

“Yakone and the twins aren’t coming. To tell you the truth, we nearly failed our mission. Yakone said without our captain, we would’ve been killed. That we’re too weak.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I told them let’s come here to get our mind of things, but they said no and decided to train. They’re really dedicated to getting stronger.”

“I never thought they cared that much about things like that. That mission must’ve changed them.”

“It wasn’t the mission that changed them.”

“Hmm?”

“It was you.”

The mic on the stage turns on. Everyone goes silent and looks at the stage. It’s Kizoku 9, Mizuki.

“Kura, he’s kinda good looking. How old is he?”

“Like in his 20s.”

“First off, I want to congratulate you all for completing your first missions and officially becoming Shorai. This is a big change for you and us.”

Everyone claps and cheers.

“Now as you know, officially becoming ranked disciples, you now play a part in making sure the world is in order. During that, you get paid.”

“Kiyo, we can do real good with our money.”

“Yeah. Our town could really benefit from it.”

“This is why each year, we give Shorai the opportunity to boost themselves.”

Everyone starts chatting.

“For this year, we’re bringing back, The Shorai Skirmish.”

Sasaki gets excited. He grins.

“The Shorai Skirmish will be set in an island. You will all be placed there. Each of you will fight one another, as individuals.”

Everyone gets shocked.

“This is to test each of your abilities to the fullest. To see what you’ll do if your team isn’t with you. Also to prepare you for future solo missions.”

Kuragami punches his palm.

“This will be exciting.”

“It will be broadcasted to royalty around the world. They’ll watch every single one of you and see if you’re worthy of working for them. This also comes with a lot of money and status.”

Mizuki thinks to himself.

“Though I doubt this bunch will be recognised. As generations go on, they’ve become more unserious.”

Mizuki smiles.

“The way the skirmish will work is, each of you will be wearing a bracelet. Every time you defeat someone, some of their aura will be absorbed in your bracelet and you will gain 5 points. The way we decide if someone is defeated is by a certain nerve in your system. If that nerve stops functioning, you’ll get teleported to a large waiting room and watch the rest of the skirmish while being healed.”

“They really thought this one through.”

“This isn’t complicated Homura.”

Homura looks at Sasaki annoyed.

“Though with all The Shorai Skirmishes in the past, there’s a twist.”

Everyone gets ready to hear the twist.

“There will be a select five of you who will be worth, 50 points!”

Many people gasp. This makes the excitement jump many levels.

Mizuki brings out a scroll.

“These people are called ‘Prodigy Disciples.’ They were picked by the Kashikoi as the five strongest of your generation. If you hear your name, come up to the stage.”

“Prodigy Disciples? The five strongest?”

“If they’re worth 50, everyone will be after them.”

“Just beating one can guarantee you becoming at least top 10.”

“They are doomed.”

Everyone is eager to see who the chosen 5 will be.

“Prodigy Disciple 5, Kuragami Nozomi.”

Everyone looks at Kuragami.

“Seriously? Me, the weakest?”

Kuragami gets on stage.

Prodigy Disciple 4, Isamu Denki.”

“Yeah! Suck it Kuragami, I’m stronger!”

“There’s no way, that idiot is above me.”

Isamu walks on stage.

“Prodigy Disciples 3, Hoshiko Heulwen.”

A girl with chocolate silky skin walks on stage. She has Afro hair that’s in two large puff balls.

“Wow, I really made it!”

Kuragami goes up to her.

“Hey, I’m Kuragami.”

She looks at him up and down. She then looks away.

“Okay then.”

“Prodigy Disciples 2, Sasaki Bushida.

“Eh?! Sasaki’s above me too?!”

Sasaki walks on stage and next to Kuragami.

“See that, I’m stronger.”

“There’s Kashikoi don’t know their stuff!”

“And finally, Prodigy Discipls 1, Daku Improbus!”

Daku walks on stage, unbothered.

“So you’re the strongest.”

Daku looks at Kuragami.

“Kuragami Nozomi. To think you were just a weakling after all.”

“Hey, what did you say?!”

Sasaki holds him back.

“Save it for the skirmish.”

“These are the five chosen. The ones in your generation known as Prodigy Disciples.”

The five look at the rest watching them.

“We’re worth ten more points than them.”

“They’re going to be after us constantly.”

Kuragami looks at them.

“I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll be able to handle it.”

“A weakling like you has no place to talk like that.”

Kuragami gets irritated. Hoshiko looks at both of them. Then she looks at crowd.

“Calm down you two. We’re pretty much on the same team here.”
