Just as I considered myself slowly dying in the midst of darkness, I heard the familiar noise of running footsteps. The kind of sound I never assumed would be the same drone I'd get to hear for the rest of my life. Or so it goes...

Everything before me was drowned in pitch black. Blood was coursing down in each side of my face as my hands trembled uncontrollably. My mouth suddenly felt dry like embers for some reason. My vision blurry and it seemed as though I'm going to crumble any moment from now.
Every single limb of mine felt subtly frail and brittle, but I managed to stand anyway. As my eyes struggled to focus on my surroundings, they adjusted to the gloomy darkness I had unknowingly fallen asleep in.
At this point in time, I wished they didn't.
The grotesquely gory scene before me wasn't such a pleasant sight to see. With walls bathed in murky red color, and the floor beneath my feet feeling wet and sticky as pools of red iron-scented liquid blotted the once white and clean tiles of this place, I felt real unadultered fear for once.
With shaky legs and trembling hands, I tried to walk around but the weakness in my lower limbs persisted and then there I was, down on the cold and wet floor.
The sensation of blood on my skin made my face go pale which wasn't spared from the night-time blood bath. It was uncomfortable but I didn't stand up right away.
With me lying there unmoving, I began to noticed other things. The blood was, how do you describe it, fresh? My eyes grew wider as I realized how dangerous this place really is.
Countless questions plagued my mind but one stood out from the rest.
Did all this happen just recently?
That thought terrified me greatly. I didn't even notice I had curled into a ball hugging and comforting myself. Silent whimpers echoed out which only accentuated what was already scary enough for me.
A few minutes later, I managed to gather a bit of courage and decided to finally move on. Wiping away my tears and snot, I stood up and walked decisively but it was short-lived.
I fell down again on blood-filled floor when I stumbled on a large bulky object. On a closer look, it was a corpse of a middle-aged man sporting a horrified face.
"Hiiii!" I whimpered.
This isn't funny! Is this a dream? Or perhaps a reality tv show?
PLEASE! ANYONE! PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T REAL!
With one shock coming after another, I became numb towards everything and just accepted it. Something in me might have broken already. Was it my heart or my head?
Hahahahaha. I think I'm losing it. This place is unhealthy for the mind.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Now that I've thought about it, It's quite a wonder as to how I survived through this hell. With my body whole and unscathed. Aside from my weakened body and my disoriented mind, nothing seems to be out of place.
Observing the room more clearly, the body I've stumbled upon wasn't all alone. There were other bodies too. Belonging to different kinds of people given their clothes. There's even elders here and children with very young ages. They're all dead of course.
They must have suffered a lot when they were killed. Seeing some of the bodies mangled beyond recognition, my expression turned difficult.
What kind of monsters could do these sick acts of killing?
The monsters that have done this, did they already leave? What if they didn't?
I frantically looked around but found nothing but bodies greeting me. The hairs on my back suddenly stood on ceremony as a sense of danger warned me of something that could truly endanger me.
I must get out of here! Fast!
I looked around for any visible exits and racked my brain for any information that I know of about this place. My memories, or lack thereof, made me feel that something was amiss.
I gathered my thoughts but was disoriented by the influx of various information and the suddenness of this situation. I was so lost in thought that - I failed to notice the dangers lurking around just out of sight. I didn't even notice the six pairs of glowing red orbs staring right at me drooling at my delicious and tender flesh.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Saliva was dripping down from the ceiling above. Looking at all of it again, this scene may pretty well be from a typical horror movie.
Hold on.
Saliva?
"FUCK!" I can't help but curse after I turned my head up to look at the ceiling above. Saliva continued to fall down and some even made its way on to my face as I continued to stare at the abominations overhead. One of the silhouettes grew larger and larger, no, it was getting nearer and nearer and so I lurched forward avoiding the pounce by a hair's breadth.
They all dropped down shuffling around and moved to encircle me. Although they were clearly humanoids, they were using all of their limbs for movement.
One. Two. Three. Four.
There were four of those "things" or whatever they are I cannot say, just that they were tall and scrawny armed with long frontal limbs with long sharp nails which could very well be called as claws already. Because of poor illumination, I wasn't able to make out their features aside from their builds and their nasty crooked nails.
They started to move about and observing every move I made. Carefully assessing the prey before them. While I was looking around for a hole in their formation, two more participated in the hunt.
Great. Just what I needed. More of them coming to haunt me in this nightmare.
If this truly was just a nightmare and my brain playing tricks on me, I want to wake up already! With such an unbelievable situation, this must all be just a bad dream.
Yes. This must be a dream. I'm lying right now in my comfy bed as I peacefully snored the night away.
One of them jumped in front of me and slashed. It was already to late to dodge it so I titled my body to minimize the damage that I would take.
Shit. This is real.
My bleeding side stinging with pain was like a splash of cold water. I began to treat this very seriously and desperately tried to think of a way to get out of this crappy situation.
"GROOOUUUH"
Bloodcurdling growls emitted from these vile creatures which didn't seem to be natural at all. It clearly wasn't anything human-like despite them being humanoid creatures.
The lights suddenly flickered on and everyone got blinded by the unexpected surge of light. Sensing my chance, I ran towards a random direction with my eyes closed.
I ran and ran and when I opened my eyes, what I saw was something really...
Bad.
Twelve blood-clad lunatics smile at me almost simultaneously. They seemed to be able to coordinate well despite their eyes showing not a speck of reason.
Now, how will I survive this?
Only one thought came up to me.
Run, of course!
