Chapter 4

‘Ding!’

The overhanging bell once again struct. This time bringing in a new face. A blond-haired teen stood in the doorway of the store; a camera swung around his neck. A look of eagerness and anticipation was evident on his face. One firm hand upon the camera and the other buried deep into his pocket.

“I need to immediately take a shot, can I use the roof?!” he exclaimed as he darted through the store, not caring what stood in his wake. Until he reached midway through the café abruptly, stopping in his tracks as the grey-haired woman held out her arm not allowing him to pass any further.

“We are not open.” She said sternly her voice now harnessing a sense of danger and threat. Her glare was one of absolute irritation. It was at this time that the brunette Miss Parker decided to make her appearance as she walked out the staff area, her eyes immediately darting the room trying to read the situation. Her eyes immediately now locked with the gaze of the teen photographer.

“Please, this sunset isn’t going to last long…” crunching his eyebrows and indicating with his arm towards the tinted windows, to further try and emphasize his point. His request was directed towards the stern woman prohibiting him but his gaze fixated on the young blonde employee before him.

“I’m really sorry sir, but you need to make your way out of here.” A hint of emotion was not even present in her tone as the authoritative woman began to usher the man out, not even holding a second of reluctance. Despite the constant pleading and begging, he made his way out of the store. A fresh thunderous stillness now settled itself in the store as all three individuals gazed at one another.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“Expertly handled, Miss Blue.” Anderson was first to break the awkward silence as he buttoned his blazer and was met with a nod as he passed by the cautionary woman. He then turned to the slightly frightened Miss Parker.

“He seemed to have known you, or have some sense of familiarity with you, Miss Parker,” James said a sense of inquisition in his tone. She then began to fidget with her hands clearly nervous as she scrunched up both hands, pointed out both index fingers and constantly tapped the edge of each together. The act clearly one to garner sympathy from both individuals before her, had no effect on the stone-like expression adorned by the two seniors in her audience.

“Well… Errm… Usually, around closing times he stands nearby to the shop, taking pictures…But I thought he was just your average wannabe photographer.” Constant stutters and murmurs riddled her statement, as her gaze began to lower after each phrase. Until a look of remorse and utmost guilt coupled with stupidity birthed a new expression on the young woman’s face.

“Miss Blue…Are you okay with handling this?” Anderson said as he let out a sigh of disappointment his gaze and body now turning towards the woman who began to pull out a hairband from the pocket of her apron. Her response was one of utmost certainty as she pulled out her platinum card adorned with three black stripes across it. The following embedded was into it ‘AUEINABDLLE’.
