I just wanted to take a moment to thank everybody for following along. I’ve been working on A Chronicle of Lies on and off for quite a few years now and I was always hesitant about sharing it. I wasn’t sure if people would like it. But the positive feedback I’ve received kind of blows my mind. It really encourages me to know that people are loving this story despite its many flaws.

So what happens now?

Well, I am going to make one final edit pass, incorporating the suggestions you guys have left, then I am going to publish it on Amazon, hopefully before Christmas. It will be available both digital and paperback. At some point, I plan on posting it to Kindle Unlimited, which means I will stub it sometime in the future. (I will give you guys plenty of warning.)

What about book 2?

Book 2 is being worked on and so far, I have 34k words written. But writing isn’t my day job, unfortunately. I wish I had more time to work on it. So I can’t give you guys an ETA. The best way to stay up to date with my progress is to join my discord, which I will link in the chapters notes below. I post about my progress there.

I will try to post content when I have a decent backlog and when I feel like it’s good enough to release, but I don’t want to shovel out garbage. The story I want to tell is pretty grand in scope and it intimidates me a little. I’ll be honest, I feel like I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. But I’m kind of lost in this world, so I’m going to try.

Any plot details?

I’m keeping the plot specifics under wraps for now. But I will tell you the following:

Vincent will have more agency. He will become more familiar with his powers. And he will be less of an asshole. You will see more sides of him.

Book 2 will be faster-paced. Every chapter will have something happening in it instead of meandering.

One of the mistakes I made when writing the original manuscript of book 1 was to have these huge, 10k word chapters. I had to break them up when I posted to Royal Road so that I didn’t drive readers crazy. Unfortunately, that meant the chapters that did get posted just sort of abruptly stopped. I’m going to try to avoid that. Each chapter will have a purpose. More cultures will be explored, in book 2 and the world-building will continue.
