Prologue - Introduction (Complete)

Before you flame me for anything, which I'll most likely ignore, I'll say this first, Yes, I'm stealing lots and lots of terms from other novels on RR which may be very obvious to the eyes, so... No, this ain't an original or anything near the literal meaning of the word. Haters? 2 words, love you <3

If you see any thing that looks like => [size...]

Please ignore it, it's a by-product of me making a mistake when coding the tables....probably...

Prologue

Have you ever wondered which came first? Don't get me wrong but I'm not talking about the chicken or the egg kind of first, I'm talking about which soul is the first to take form during the period of creation of the multiverse. Now you may be thinking 'How the fuck should I know?' or just an outright 'Fuck you...', but for every plausible question asked, there exists a plausible answer, and the answer to my first question is... Me.

Many of you may think 'How would you know if you're the first soul to ever take form?' or 'Are you a narcissist?', to which my answer for the first question would be... The System. The System is well... a system. It was created along with the multiverse. 'How it came to be' or 'Who created The System or the multiverse as the matter of fact' are the questions I have no answer to, nor do I actually care. The System serves as a sort of aid for souls, providing souls various functions to access, which in my opinion is a godsend as it helps me with various things, but it can also be a very oppressive thing in certain... areas.

'How does The System actually work?' I'll give you a few examples, The System is like a program which provides you with various functions or abilities allowing you to do various 'fun' stuff, such as 'Creation of a Universe' or 'Destruction of a Universe', but only if your soul has the appropriate strength to receive it. Henceforth, the stronger the soul, the more functions of the system unlocked and vice versa.

At this point in time, you may be wondering 'Does a soul really have any difference in strengths? And if so, how do you tell? Is there some kind of STR stat that says you're better than others you freaking narcissist?'. Well to easily answer your questions, I'll give it to you straight, which is Yes. BUT!!! It's not STR. HaHa...Got your hopes up didn't you. Hmm... Let's see, to explain it in terms which mere mortals like you would understand, the best way to determine the strength of a soul would be Soul Power, or SP in short. During the creation of the multiverse, an infinite amount of souls were also brought into existence. However, at that point in time, there has yet to be a suitable universe with suitable 'containers' or hosts if you will. Hence to house the manifestation of all those souls in the Physical Realm, a new realm was brought to existence, which is the Ethereal Realm, also known as the River of Souls. In the River, the strength of souls are constantly increasing and decreasing. This is due to the fact that souls are stealing SP from each other. It is in the nature of our souls to steal power or strength from other souls and our surrounding environment to strengthen ourselves. The River of Souls lacks an environment...so the only other alternative to strengthen ourselves is by playing ... Soul Power Tug-of-War! The River of Souls is like a huge stadium filled with an infinite amount of players playing it. You win, you get stronger, you lose...well let's not go there shall we.

Alright, we're getting side-tracked here. Now, back to The System. The System, or as I would like to call 'Jane' also plays a role in placing souls into 'containers' in the Physical Realm. Jane is like a mother, she likes to give all of her children equal treatment to obtain a fair chance at life, even though she clearly knows NONE of them are equal to each other in terms of anything. There's bound to be someone weaker or stronger than you unless you're at the very top... or bottom, which then leads to stagnation and boredom and then death, trust me, I know... well maybe not the death part. Anyways!! Jane gives every soul a chance at life, or in this case... a chance to get into a container *lol*, regardless of the strength of the soul, which also leads to the birth of a new existence in the multiverse called 'inequality'. The 'fairness' of Jane led to the birth of mortals of various strengths and ability, which resulted in a hierarchy of the sorts. Mortal existences were categorized into various ranks which in turn led to discrimination. However!!! Fear not, as with great power comes with great responsibilities...probably...I think...

Anyhow! Let's talk about me. You must be wondering why I'm speaking to you in such a condescending tone when I'm also just one of the many mortal existences I just spoke of. As to why I'm doing this, first I'll explain another function of Jane. Jane 'bestows' upon us mortal existences 'Titles'. Some are standardized titles which are given when specified circumstances are achieved, some attained with 'unique' conditions such as being a hero...demon lord....Peasant A..., and some when you catch the eye of some 'Deputized  Entities' by Jane. Now, back to Me. I'm the owner of 'several' titles whether standard, unique, or normal. To list a few...hmm lets see, I have

[Bored]

As you can see, my first title which is almost self-explanatory is a result of me being the first soul to ever leave the River of Souls and enter the multiverse’s first ever container. ‘And what does being the first soul gives you any right to act all condescending?’ Well to answer that question, the first soul to leave the River of Souls, in other words, me, was not chosen by Jane, but was a result of the culmination of strength, or SP in my soul after spending eons fighting over SP in the River of Soul while waiting for the infinite amount of universes and worlds coming into existence. To put it clearly to those who still do not understand where I’m getting at------ I am the strongest soul in existence, well at least at that time, but I still am the strongest soul right now!! The case of me leaving the River of Souls on my own was not expected by Jane as she was still carrying out the ‘manufacturing of containers’ throughout the multiverse. Hence, at that point in time, there wasn’t a proper fully functional ‘container’ for me so I was ‘summoned’ by Jane to assist in her many mind numbing tasks through The System for another few millennium. Which ended up earning me one of the single most irritating titles ever attained. By the way, it was also during this period of time that I learnt about a feature of Jane which is both fascinating and irritating ---- Jane is sentient. She or it ... “Ou-Ouch! Ouch! Alright!! Alright!! I gi-give!! Give!! Uncle!! Stop giving me headaches!! ‘She’ alright?!? Honestly you get mad over the slightest things I say...What? I’m an inconsiderate asshole? Not the first day you met me...”.

*Ehem* As I was saying, Jane is sentient. Well part of her is. The System is split into two portions, one part non-sentient which handles all the mind numbing tasks, while the sentient part handles issues concerning souls and making improvements to The System itself, except the sentient portion is an annoying pain in the... Also, as to why Jane took up the female role is still a mystery to me up to this point and it really scares me to ask her. *whisper*whisper* “What? You picked it because I’m of the male gender? Aw you’re too kind... No, really, why did you choose to be a female...you would’ve been so much more bearable if you were a male--OUCH!! Seriously stop abusing your power over mortals for such petty things!” Fuck this...we’re getting sidetracked. Oh, before I forget, souls HAVE genders!! For every male soul, there is also a female soul. As to which containers these souls actually end up in...haha its a gamble. That’s why you get girlish boys and boyish girls sometimes. So don’t blame them for their less-impulsive nature.

Alright, now where was I... Ah! Right! Me! Being the strongest soul! After the multiverse was constructed to a habitable state... which by the way, is still spewing out universe after universe as we speak, Jane decided to make me a ‘higher quality container’ as a reward for assisting her. Thus, I attained immortality! My container was literally indestructible and almighty. And this leads to my current predicament...boredom. Oh don’t get me wrong here, being immortal is great and all, you don’t have to lose memories. ‘Why would you lose memories?’ Well, despite me saying I’m not gonna talk about what happens to a soul that loses in Soul Powa Tug-of-War , I’m still gonna do it...*teehee*... okay that was stupid, forget about it.

Notice New title attained : [Uncute]   Jane

                “Yeah...I hate you Jane...Whatever...”

Anyways!! As many of you may guess, losing SP is equivalent to losing the ability to retain your memories in soul form. Lower SP means you lose memories. For some stronger souls it may be forgetting about things you learned, people you knew but still retain your ‘consciousness’, while for weaker souls... yeah sucks to be them... they literally become a blank slate in terms of memories. It could be considered lucky for those who wish to forget about their past and get a fresh start in life, but unlucky for those who don’t. In case some of you may wonder, the ‘forget’ I’m referring to isn’t your ‘Oh! I forgot to do my homework’ kind of forget, but the type of ‘Wipe your hard drive clean’ type of forget. You won’t ever remember any of the lost memories regardless of how hard you try. Even if you do manage to somehow record the lost memories and re-watch all of them, in the end it will be no different than watching a video clip of your past life. Remaining a spectator, not knowing how it feels.

Oops, side-tracked again...maybe the years are finally catching up to my immortal self... Hah! Who am I kidding, I’m just bad at concentrating.

                “...”

Well... lets get back to me being bored! After the creation of a habitable multiverse, many souls were guided by The System into the Physical Realm and then into containers. Thus leading to empty worlds filling up with billions of newborn mortals. At first, the races of the mortals were uncategorized, but that led to the questioning of the races themselves as the souls were all sentient, leading to similar appearance individuals creating groups of their own, each with their own unique names, causing Jane to have a major headache as there were an infinite amount of races to remember by name. However, after a few thousand years, Jane finally decided to sort the mortals into different races. She also reluctantly accepted a suggestion of mine which categorizes the mortals into different ranks depending on their amount of SP. Basically, my suggestion was a failsafe plan to separate the strong from the weak, avoiding most of the major discrimination from occurring. Don’t get me wrong here, I’m not referring to the ‘Stronger than you by one or one hundred folds’ kind of strength gap, but something like ‘A planet vs an amoeba’ kind of strength gap. The unattainable, unachievable, unimaginable kind of gap.

To explain the ranking system in words that mere mortals that would understand, especially mortals from a certain planet named Earth, its something a little like this :

Ranking System (Mortals)Rank 1Me

-private and confidentialRank 2Deputized Entities (Higher Gods)

- ageless

- consists of Gods that govern over various 'stuff' such as the different races, the 7 deadly sins and the 7 heavenly virtues, fate, life and death, etc. etc.

- is a representative of ALL the lesser Gods which govern over the same department

- also has a separate ranking among Gods determined by their own strength(SP)Rank 3Lesser Gods

- ageless

- consists of Gods' lackeys which assist them in governing all the different worlds throughout the multiverse

- may raise their rank IF they manage to actually win a High God in a fair duel...which has never happened before

- basically rulers of their own worldsRank 4Divine Beings

- very long but limited lifespans

- a sort of representative for their own races due to the fact that they were once mortal beings

- has a chance to become a Lesser God if strength increases to acceptable level via cultivation... or catch the fancy of a Higher GodRank 4.5Summoned Being

- lesser mortals summoned by Mortal Beings to aid in a specific cause, such as becoming a hero, demon lord, servant etc.

- receives Blessing of Divine Beings/Lesser Gods/Higher Gods*Rank 5Mortal Beings

- limited lifespans

- strength may vary depending on race

- able to manipulate the commodity known as 'mana', unlike their lower counterparts (Lesser Mortals)

-able to utilize The System but has no knowledge of the actual entity of it, only considering it as a natural thing, taking it for grantedRank 6Lesser Mortals

- short lifespans

- unable to manipulate mana

- able to only exist in low mana content worlds (lesser worlds)

- unable to utilize The System nor have any knowledge of it

- weak...unreasonably weak...

- typically no chance to increase in rank, unless becoming a 'Summoned Individual' by Mortal Beings (this function is due to the effort of Jane's 'pity')=> Blessing of Divine Beings(most likely)/Lesser Gods(maybe...)/Higher Gods(not likely/dream on)* - basically the blesser giving the blessed a tiny portion of their ever growing SP, which leads to an increase in various other stats of the individual

Well that basically sums up the official ranks recognized by The System. 'Whats the required SP for each rank?' Well, after a few thousand years of effort by The System, Jane and me....mostly The System, we decided to measure and record SP in numerical values instead of a vague concept. The System measures each soul before sending them to suitable worlds to live in. Well here you go :

[td2]Rank 1

RankSP Points[/td2 ???Rank 2 (Higher Gods)10,000,000~???Rank 3 (Lesser Gods)1,000,000~9,999,999Rank 4 (Divine Beings)100,000~999,999Rank 5 (Mortal Beings)1000~99,999Rank 6 (Lesser Mortals)1 (really lucky or really unlucky fella)~999Rank 4.5 (Summoned Beings)1~500,000

Just so none of you are mistaken by the numbers, it takes 100 Earth years to increase SP by 1 for a Lesser Mortal, 50 years if a miracle occurs, of course... I'm referring to increase through natural means. If you don't understand what 'natural' means, I'm referring to passive absorption through the passage of time. Moving on... the higher in ranks you get, the longer it takes to increase your SP.

Some of you may be wondering 'How does a soul increase its SP in the Physical Realm' or 'What happens to a soul with low SP living in a world which has a high mana concentration?'

For the first meaningless question, I'll just vaguely explain the main reason of containers now. Containers mainly function to absorb mana from the environment (which basically means the multiverse itself) and converting it to SP. The quality of the containers also depend on the quality of the world it resides in, be it a Higher World or a Lesser World. But rest assured, the maximum capacity for SP of the containers is at least a thousand-fold more than the soul which will reside in it. So far, there has not been a second entity who managed to max out the capacity of the containers. You might be thinking 'I'm not gonna even ask who's the only entity to max out their containers', but where's the fun in being a spoil sport?

*whisper* "...What is it, Jane?" *whisper*whisper* "Aw come on, I'm not boring them to death! I'm trying to tell them my legacy here!" *whisper* "Oh fine...I'll get on with it...sheesh.."

*Sigh*Oh, I forgot to mention this, but you can improve the absorption rate of mana through various means such as meditating, training your body (container) to support an increase in absorption rate and etc. etc.

Now, to answer the next question! Well, let's just say...it's not pleasant to the eyes. These souls have short and sometimes less fortunate lives. Also, instead of having an increased amount of SP when going back to The River after death, they end up going back with less than when they came out with, doomed to be stuck in The River for all eternity...maybe.

Wow... I'm getting side-tracked a lot today... I completely forgot to vent to you mortals about my current predicament only after mentioning the ranking system... You guys should be thankful I'm even doing this for you. I'm such a benevolent person! I should receive a reward for doing this !

Notice New title attained : [Benevolent (Sarcastic)]

Okay... I'm already regretting that... Okay! Back to me!

*whisper*whisper* "What? I'm quick to change moods? Well you learn to quickly forget the things you don't like...especially when the problem roots from someone who's your superior in every meaning of the word...especially *cough* age *cough*"

[...Did you just call me old?] (???)

                 "N-no... I-I d-did n-n-not...? Okay! P-please st-stop smiling like th-that! I-I'm so-sorry o-okay?!?"

*whisper*[Next time you refer to me using that word again, I'll be spending the next few millennium reeducating you properly]*whisper* "Th-thank you... f-for being s-so merciful..."

Well... please just pretend that never happened. B-back to the topic. '-Damn...that old hag scared the shit out of me with that creepy "saintly" smile of hers...-'

Oh! If any of you are wondering why Jane is whispering, stop wondering, it won't do you any good to know what she's thinking of, trust me, it's better that way, you don't want to get involved in anything troublesome. [/size]

Alright! Back to me! For real this time!

[Oh come on! Just skip to your point! Even I'm falling asleep here!] (Jane)

"Shush! I have to do this properly! Otherwise I won't get my point through to these mortals!"

[Oh for crying out loud! You guys wanna know something interesting? This smug bastard, despite speaking like a condescending asshole, couldn't control his bladder when he first got into his body! He LITERALLY soiled himself right on the spot!] (Jane)

"NOOO!! YOU PROMISED NOT TO EVER MENTION THAT EVER AGAIN!! NOW EVERYONE KNOWS!!"

[Oh just suck it up and get to the point! Otherwise I'm gonna leak even more of your dark past!] (Jane)

"FINE! I GET IT! BASICALLY I'M JUST BORED ALRIGHT?!"

                 [...That's it?] (Jane)

                 "...yeah...happy?"

[Unbelievable... I'm not going to even... I'm just going to leave...] (Jane)

                 *moment of silence*

                 Well...she's finally gone...

As I was saying, to alleviate my boredom... Let's go stalk a summoning!

                                                   .

                                                   .

                                                   .

"OH!! Just so if anyone remembers... Yes, I'm a narcissist *smug grin*"

...to be continued
