I have only walked a few steps, when I hear a door swing open behind me. I spin myself around, and see another competitor flying feet first towards me, with a Plas Scattershot pistol held in his right hand. I sidestep to the left, and manage to avoid being hit straight on by his feet, but as he flies by he smoothly unloads a shot into me, then changes his gravity to smoothly land on a wall forward and to the left of me, in the hall leading to the main skywalk.
“Frick. This guy is as good as me” I think to myself, as I have my cybersuit display my current shield on my left arm.
Shield:
167/200
Crap. His scattershot already knocked out a decent amount of my shields, though I am still ahead due to the bonus shields from being the kill leader. I spin my grav target line to be facing the wall to the left of me, angled to land in close quarters with my opponent. I draw my starburst as I fall towards him, and unload three shots into him, while he seems to bide his time. His scattershot only has three shots, and with the large amount of spread, saving the shots for point blank for the most effectiveness is probably a smart play on his part. As I near point blank range, I store my starburst on my hip, and prepare myself for a hand to hand fight.
I land next to him at almost point blank range, and he unloads the last two shots from his scattershot. I see him reach his left hand towards his left hip, probably for a spare sidearm, and shoot my hand out to grab it before him. I manage to get my hand on the back of the pistol, and recognize it as a second scattershot. As I try to get a good grasp on it, his hand hits the pistol and knocks it away from my grasp. It falls to the floor, to my right of the wall we are standing on.
“Huh. That’s cool. Once we let go of something, it will fall to normal gravity.” I say, as I swing a punch towards his head. He smoothly dodges, and replies in a low, deep voice, with a somewhat menacing tone to it.
“Interesting.” He then throws a his fist in a jab straight towards my chest, and I block with my left forearm, checking my shield after the impact.
Shield:
65/200
Sixty five shield? That means that his second and third scattershot shots hit their full spread, and his blocked punch still took out about twenty shield, protecting the arm I blocked with from harm. Heck, this guy is pretty good. Maybe if we could alliance, with ninety-nine whole people being able to come out champions,
“Wanna work together? Alliance?”
“Sure, why not. You seem capable, even if your choice of weaponry is sub par.” He responds, in the same slightly menacing, deep voice as earlier, a note of spite sounding in his voice.
Suddenly, a booming voice blares throughout the world, the chilling presence of Caesar’s voice creeping down my spine.
“Anddd, we have a new KILL LEADER, going to Voidshot. They will receive the standard kill leader bonuses, so watch out folks!”
Ugh. And there goes the kill leader bonus. Well that’s that I guess. My newfound companion turns towards me, and voices a question,
“What kind of callsign is Voidshot? Kinda lame if you asked me. Like of all names to choose for a jacked callsign, why that? Also, what is your callsign? Mine is NeonKnight. You can call me Neon while we work today.
“My jacked callsign is Dhedjeshdi.” I respond, as I have my cybersuit withdraw from my head with a thought, so he can see my face. “And seriously man, I have no clue why anyone would call themselves Voidshot. Maybe to humiliate their kills? Like dying to someone who names themselves after emptiness and nothingness, that must kinda hurt.”
“That’d actually make sense. Getting killed by void, or absolute nothingness, would be pretty humiliating.” Neon responds, still in the deep, almost menacing sounding voice, his cybersuit turning a neon green.
He turns toward me, his cybersuit crawling down, revealing shoulder length blond hair, blue eyes, and a smooth, pretty face. I flinch, as they burst out laughing.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Wait, did you assume my gender? You actually fell for the voice mod my cybersuit uses to make me sound like some kind of overdramatic killer?” She says in a much lighter, feminine voice, in between spurts of laughter.
“No need to blush like that, you haven’t a chance with me anyway, I don’t like men. Also, am I really the first girl you have allied with in a jacked sim, or do you always blush like that? Real names Julia by the way, if you prefer that to Neon.” She says, as I continue to blush.
“Umm…”
She continues to laugh.
“My name outside is Josiah, and how about we just agree to forget all that?”
“What? Of course not! You were hilarious!”
I shake my head and continue walking. This, this is why alliances are a bad idea. Getting distracted will not help my combat capabilities.
“Also, why are you running two starbursts and a repeater? They are practically the same gun!”
“Not really. They serve distinct purposes.” I reply, as I pull up a wiki entry from the net, the universal system of being able to post and access any type of content created, whether it be cybersuit footage, text entries on weapons, maps, everything imaginable really.
Starburst Plas Pistol -
Shot type - Single Shot
Base Damage - 10 Shield per shot
Energy Consumption - 1P per shot
Fire types - Semi-Auto
Shot Delay - None
Control - 1 Hand
Recoil - Very little
Mag type - Plas Pistol Mags
Plas 1300 Repeater Rifle
Shot type - Single Shot
Base Damage - 10 Shield per shot
Energy Consumption - 1P per shot
Fire types - Semi-Auto
Shot delay - None
Control - 2 Hands
Recoil - Moderate
Mag type - Plas Rifle Mags
After looking over the wiki, I quickly resume speaking, “They both are used in very different situations. The repeater is a two handed longer range gun, with a rifle clip, which if you're using a Green type plas rifle mag like most people, will give you thirty shots from it, which is great to easily line up and shred long range. In comparison, the starburst is a single handed pistol with almost no recoil, which allows you to easily fire it while doing other things simultaneously, like falling towards an opponent with a grav suit.”
“Nah. They are both semi-auto guns with identical damage, and easy to control recoil if used properly. You really don’t need to run both.” She tosses her left side scattershot at me, and I catch it, after bobbling it and almost dropping it, while she continues speaking, “Seriously, you should be running a scattershot, especially with grav suits. Just pull up a wiki, it is far superior at close range.”
I pull up a wiki from the net, and look through it.
Plas Scattershot Pistol
Shot type - Plas spread
Base Damage - 40 Shield for full spread
Energy Consumption - 3.3P per shot
Fire types - Semi-Auto, Full-Auto
Shot delay - 250 Milliseconds
Control - 1 Hand
Recoil - Severe
Mag type - Plas Pistol Mags
“Yeah, fair point. Normally I would avoid it, due to the fact of closing the distance to close range, but with grav suits, that point is mute.” I say, as I toss her one of my two Starburst’s, and magnetize the scattershot to my left hip.
“Not only that, but the raw stats alone don’t even do it justice. Hitting the exact same place on a cybersuit again within a half a second of the previous shot hitting will cause the shot to deal about 1.5 times damage. Take that with the 40 damage spread of the scattershot, if you land both spreads in the same place point blank, it will break their shield! Meaning if you're good, you can pull a three shot kill with it! Two shots to break the shield, and the third shot to kill! How cool is that?”
“Bullshit. No way you hit the same spot twice point blank with severe recoil and a shot delay.”
“It is totally possible. I’ve done it before. You're probably just incapable of controlling recoil. ”
I roll my eyes. “I’ll believe it when I see it.”

With a thought, I have my cybersuit display the time left in the Championship on my left forearm.
Time remaining until the gate to heaven opens:
5:31:17
Five and a half hours left. Today is gonna be one heck of day.
