The ‘Know-It-All’

“I know… Everything… Too much… I… you die right here right now in a different timeline…” -(???)

Day 4 ATE

Lewis Freund

(Narrator’s Perspective) “The wisest human being you can meet goes to this guy. He knows everything and anything. He even knows how many timelines there are and the different events that happen in each timeline. But there’s a catch. A big one. One day of each week that passes he has amnesia, and the only way he has the knowledge that he does is by looking through glass, which is why he usually wears glasses. I like to call this guy… The Omni-Knowledgeable.”

“A what?”

“A timeline,” Lewis responds. “You got to put this on for yourself. Your mind will unlock new pathways- you will see all the world has for you- this- I- A- WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE ON-”

“Shut the fuck up, sociopath,” I say to him as I shake the thought of what he’s saying off my mind.

“Just try it,” he says convincingly.

I go to try and put it on, and no shit, it fails. But I do feel strange. My head is actually hurting now. I take the glasses off, and I realize that this is a way to end the day, but then as I walk on air back to my island, my powers stop and now I’m hurling down an endless abyss for the FOURTH FUCKING TIME at 70034 miles per hour. Fuck you, Lewis. But then I realize… This isn’t normal. I’m not supposed to be going this faaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssstttttttttttttttttttttt-

Day… 16? ATE

“AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH-”

Thump.

I landed faceplant into an island- my island so hard that when I got up, my nice little pose was engraved into the ground. Hold up... Why is there advanced technology everywhere? All the people look like they are in the 1500s. I wonder how crazy advanced technology gets there anyway. I… this is amazing… insane, even… it’s awesome… scary, but awesome, but I have a question…

“What day is it?” I ask abruptly.

“Where did you come from?” Royce asked, in some type of mecha-armor.

“I came from the past,” I say. “Is this the timeline Lewis was talking about?”

“Lewis? Lewis died,” Leonard said. “

“When...?”

“Almost before day 1 ended.”

“Oh… my… I- I don’t get how- but- isn’t there- I- but-”

“Kid,” Royce said, ruining my stuttering streak. “Lewis is dead.”

“Not where I came from,” I say.

“HE'S DEAD.”

“Okay, then who has the powers in your universe?”

“What powers?”

“The powers you get if God chooses you to lead the island-”

“We don’t have leaders,” Leonard says. “We do our own shit. We make our own shit. We fight our battles. We don’t have colonies. If there’s an A-B fight, we mind our business. That is how life works now, kid. Now get used to it and gear up, for your life depends on it.”

“I want to go back… I want to go home…” I say, pretending to be younger than I actually am.

“The kid’s probably nine or something. Get him to the tent,” Royce demands.

I follow Leonard to the ‘tent’, when in reality, it’s an advanced base from a sci-fi movie.

“How’d that get there?” I’d ask as Leonard would get my armor and supplies ready.

“It just dropped here, but we got used to it,” he’d say as he’d keep going.

I look around, and I realize that they have a chart of how many resources they have. They all say infinite.

“Oh my god- do y’all realize your-”

“What?” Leonard says as he adds safety mode to my blasters.

“...Nevermind,” I say as I wait for him to finish adding the adjustments to my blaster on the holographic monitor.

“What’s your favorite color?” Leonard would ask.

“It’s black and cyan,” I say as I try to find a place to sit.

“Wait…” Leonard would say as I was about to walk away. “I never caught your name.”

“I never threw it,” I say as I walk out of the ‘tent’. Goddamn that was smooth.

I actually have to walk back in to get the armor, but I’ll do that later. I smack my ring a couple times, and it starts working again. I started flying to the other islands, but everyone was confused.

“Did he paint his armor invisible?” a person said.

“I think he just added a plugin,” another suggested.

“Hey. Does anyone know what happened to John,” I ask out loud.

“Ask Jackal, he’s been depressed ever since the Incident,” Andrew said.

Andrew talking just now made me question what happened to Andrew in my timeline. Anyway, I go fly to Jack, and he instantly recognizes me.

“Son... SON! You didn’t die, see? Everyone will believe me when I show them the ma-”

“What happened to him?” I ask with a serious face.

“What...? Don’t be silly, I know that you are-”

“WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM.”

Jack would sigh, tears forming while he gets ready to actually cry.

“My son… He... was a test subject. His goal was to find out what happens…

“When you jump off into the abyss,” I say. “That makes a lot of sense.”

“How?”

“I... come from a different timeline.”

“What’s a timeline?”

“Okay... This is a timeline. All the choices you make are already pre-set. You can’t change them. I don’t know the choices you will make, but whoever makes the timelines knows. But in another timeline, you make different choices. Different things happen. I crossed timelines somehow. I still don’t know how or why, but I know that this is true: I am John. Not your John, but I am John.”

“Let me see your neck,” says Jack.

I tilt my head to the side to give him a better view of my neck.se touches it weirdly, and then as soon as he gets to a certain spot…

“Ow,” I say. “What are you doing?!”

h

“The mark…” Jack would say as he laughs subtly and pulls me in for a hug. We hugged for about 17.257 seconds. A long time, I know.

“You… are my son,” Jack says happily while pushing me away finally.

“And I… will be back,” I’d say as I would walk away from this conversation back to the ‘tent’. I open the ‘door’, and I would ask about my armor.

“Tell me what your name is, and then I will give you the armor.”

“Hmph.” I walked right out of the ‘tent’ as quickly as I came.

“Wait,” Leonard would say as he grabbed my arm.

“Oh, you fucked up,” I say as I’d punch him in the face and make him fell to the ground with a thump. He’d get up pissed, and I knew he was ready for more. I get ready for an epic battle. He puts on MY armor and turns the safety off with a custom passcode he made. I now have to get prepared to have an unfair fight. As soon as he turns on the blaster, however, time slows down. The laser is getting shot at me in slow motion; so slow, it’s confusing. I dodge it, but then I realize I activated a paradox with the ring. I tried to slow the shot down, but I slowed everything down. I can’t escape this paradox until the time speeds up again, but the problem is, that will never happen. We’re determining the effect of a cause that can’t even exist. So it’s an infinite loop. Just like how the ring has an infinity symbol on it. Wait… I take the ring off, and time is normal again. I put it back on, and time is still normal. I escaped a paradox. That was a close one, just like the laser that blasted through the ‘tent’. I use the material that the ‘tent’ is made out of to make a sword with it. I will call the material.. blasphellium. I have a new blasphellium sword. I like it. Anyway, I make multiple of these and aggressively ‘throw’ them at Leonard one by one. He dodges every single one except the last one, which pierces the direct center of the top part of his left leg. He’s now bleeding out; not that much, it will take a while for it to get severe, but he is down, nonetheless. As soon as I’m about to leave the tent, however, I get an awesome idea…
