Week 11: It was just here!

Roman was walking down the street to his friend Logan's apartment. He wasn't really looking where he was walking and bumped into a few people ''Excuse me my dear stranger!'' he would tell them all too dramatic for what actually happened. Roman was in a really good mood. Patton's birthday was tomorrow and he found he perfect gift! Well atleast he thought it was. That's why he was going to see Logan. He needed his opinion on the matter. Logan always knew exactly what Patton wanted and he really wanted to make sure he gift wasn't too childish. They are all in their late twenties after all and it was a toy...

Roman knocked at the door and opened it without waiting for an answer as he always did ''Someday, you are going to catch me off guard, Roman.'' Logan scowlded him. Roman rolled his eyes ''You are always fine. I've never seen you doing anything out of track! Even your pjs are on point!'' Logan was about to say something, but decided otherwise, he knew it was a lost cause ''What do you want?'' ''Oh right!'' as Roman was explaining that he needed his opinion for Patton's gift he reached for his pocket and he stopped short in his explaining. Logan looked at him with this confused look. Roman slowly took his hand out of is pocket to show Logan the small cloud pin in the palm of his hand. Logan looks at Roman and the pins a few times ''I guess this is not the gift, right?'' ''...no...'' Roman said in a really small voice. He was devastated. It was one of the action figure that he knew Patton loved so much when they were kids. He found it this morning and was so happy, he was second guessing himself since it was a kid's toy. He was wondering if it was a good gift for Patton. Logan agreeded that it was perfect for their friend. He was really deep in his nostalgia phase and was still a kid at heart. Of course he would have loved it. Roman thanked Logan and walked away, still staring at the small pin. Logan said something but Roman wasn't listening.

He walked all the way home, still in shock. His gift was gone. Replaced by this stupid pin. He now was the owner of six cloud/lightning bolt pins. It was their signature. This pickpocketer that was stealing from people replaced what he had taken by those pins. He knew it wasn't only him because after the third time, he created a facebook group. ''The thunderstorm thief'' he called it. They were almost twenty on the group. They were all trying to figure out who was this person so they could, maybe, hopefully, get all their stuffs back. That is if the thief kept their stuffs... Roman pinned the small cloud beside all the others on his board behind his computer. He was the one that had the most pins. He thought it was because the pickpocketer was in love with him. After all, who wouldn't be! But some of the group members thought it was only because he was an easy target. Preposterous as Logan would say!

He needed to vent a bit about what just happened so he wrote a really long and dramatic narrative about what had happened to him. To how he found the gift like it was a magically hunch that dragged him to this very moment, to the really dramatic time with Logan. He changed the narrative on this part, instead of him staring quietly at the pin, he said something along "It was just here!" I shouted, frantically searching my pockets for the missing thing. He was really satisfied with his small story telling, but before pressing send, he wrote a TLDR, as he always did that said the thief stole again. It was my best friend's birthday gift that I found in a thriftshop and there is no way I can find another one before his birthday :( Lots of people in the comments told him places he could go to maybe find something similiar but it wasn't the same. He needed that specific toy, not a similar one! Oh well he will only give Patton his favorite cupcake this year...

The next day, before going to work, Roman went to see Patton at his bakery. As he was walking, someone bumped really hard into him. He heard this way too familiar laugh and knew exactly who it was ''Good morning, Remus.'' ''Hi brother!!!" Remus exclaimed. Remus was Roman's twin brother and if they looked almost identical physically, the resemblance stopped there. Remus teased and punched Roman for a bit like he always did ''Where are you going, brother? Why are you so in a rush to walk away from your lovely brother? Roman! ROMAN!'' Roman finally managed to escaped Remus and ran to the bakery. As he entered the shop, he shouted ''HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAPPY PAPPY PATTON!'' Making the few costumers and Patton himself jump a bit ''Well, thank you Roman!'' Patton said while giving his friend as mall hug. Patton walked back behind the counter and Roman ordered two cupcakes. One for him, the red velvet, and one for Patton, chocolate chips. He reached in his jacket pocket and pulled out a small candle and put it on Patton's cupcake. Patton smiled widely. Roman did this every year, but he was still really happy to see his friend doing it. But Patton could see how Roman wasn't in this really happy mood as always, so he asked him what was wrong ''Oh well... you see, this year I...'' he stopped short in his track. Right there, on top of his wallet that he was about to get to pay for the cupcakes. The gift! It was back in his pocket! ''I didn't have time to wrap it up!'' and he gave the small action figure of the TMNT Michelangelo in his samurai suit. Patton screamed out of joy and jumped above the counter to give Roman the biggest hug ever.

Patton lost this figure when they were young and it was his favorite toy. He couldn't find another one anywhere and it broke his little heart back then. When Roman saw it the other day at the thriftshop, all those memories rushed back to him and knew he had to buy it. Seeing Patton's face now that he was looking the figure, all the worries and bad feelings that Roman had disapeared. He couldn't figure out how or why the gift was back in his pocket, but he didn't care. His friend was happy and so was he. As the two childhood friend talked about the sweet memories of yesterdays, they didn't notice one of the costumers miling at them and slowly walking away withouth buying anything. This person was clearly not over their emo phase and if you looked really closely at their hoodie, you could see a small lightning cloud on the side of his hood.
