Once everything had been set in stone, I sit at my desk internally screaming. Maybe I should've just immediately taken Melissa's offer…
I'm LITCHERALLY freaking out right now !!
Heart thumping, feeling super damn nauseated, light headed and on top of that, I suddenly feel like taking the biggest shit in my life!
I've gotta text Melissa.
I quickly scurry over to grab my phone off the bed where where I had left it and immediately open my messages app, selecting Meliss. I flop onto the bed and begin texting.

I sigh a loud exasperated sigh and turn over, laying there for several minutes before getting a response. My phone buzzed, and I immediately snatch it up like a seagull when it spots a French Fry.

I'm so grateful at this very moment that Melissa has the morning routine of a geriatric woman who sits on a porch at 5am that is totally in peace with themselves.
"Erm…so…." "They want me in for an interview" -me "What?!" "WHEN" -Melissa "Tomorrow🫠" "To put how I'm feeling right now into words…." "I feel like I'm about to start myself💔💔💔" -me "☠️☠️☠️" "Please don't shart yourself" "I'm gonna come over and like" "Help you prepare" "See ya soon bestie😘😘" -Melissa "Wait" "How soon" "Melissa?" "...." "Hellooo????" "....bruh" -me [https://i.imgur.com/2cO4HNQ.png]
Well tiddle my winks…
I was just getting comfortable again and now I gotta get up and make myself decent. Melissa only lives just over an hour away from her if I'm to assume she's not speeding to get here so…ughhhh
Time for me…to get back outta bed when it's barely even 7 in the morning…
I roll onto my side and lay there for a bit then
"AAAAAAUGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I rise up with the most unnecessary scream of all time and plop my feet onto the ground. With the snap, crackle and pop of my back, I step over to the clothes rack in my closet and make a quick clothing choice.
A teal button up shirt and random basketball shorts I had in my inventory. That should be fine.
I go into the bathroom to freshen up a bit and brush my teeth then head to my living room area with my phone to lounge for a bit. With a sigh, I blink and then next thing I know, I'm hearing banging on the door and somehow I ended up laying down on the couch instead of the way i was sitting beforehand.
Damn.
I must have fallen asleep.
I immediately answer the door and am greeted with the sight of a gorgeous woman. That woman in question bring Melissa. She's taller than me by about a head, brunette haired with a singular grey streak of hair from premature greying, dull emerald eyes that seem to lighten up when she sees anyone she deeply cares for, full lips and a mole under her left eye. And no matter what, she always dresses to impress, always in some form of formal wear and honestly, I can't say I wasn't a bit infatuated with her a bit.
"...heyyy Melissa I didn't think you were coming by so soon…", I finally say.
"You fell asleep didn't you?", she replied in a flat tone though I know she's not upset because of that faint smile she has on her face.

I chuckle and can't help but smile, "guilty…"
She tuts a bit then gives me a knowing grin, "you know if you need help with your sleep schedule, I can always come over and help you with that…" Her tone is flirtatious but when it comes to this sorta thing it's always a joke.
"Ha, yeah yeah, you coming in or what?", I ask Melissa dismissively.
She walks in and has a look around as I shut the door.
"You know I always forget that this place was passed down to you every time I see it…", she mumbles, "Three stories and you got it all for free…lucky…"
"Yeah it would've been mega expensive I suppose ... .it's still a surprise to me that I had relatives living in this city to be honest", i responded nonchalantly as I got closer to her.
The other woman turns to me.
"I don't think you ever told me anything about the hows or whys of all this…but we should talk about that interview first….", she with a brief pause, "5 Days….wants you in…. TOMORROW….for an interview? That's what they said?"
I nod my head with stretched lips.
"Mmmhmmm yeah that's right, I don't know what to do Melissa"
Melissa simply stares at me with a look of pity, shaking her head before speaking again.
“Well….hopefully this job isn't some trap but I'm gonna look through your closet and drawers and see if I can find something that will give you a ‘dressed to impress’ sorta look but like more formal and job oriented of course…”
Melissa immediately heads to my room before I can say anything.
“Oh! And there's nothing in here that I haven't seen before so don't worry about anything I may spot!”
She yells from my room as I hear fumbling. That made me kinda deflate a bit not gonna lie. I don't mind her going through my things but it is still mildly embarrassing.
I nervously sit on the couch for several minutes before the other woman comes out holding 2 articles of clothes–an old grey-ish button up shirt and dark jeans.
“Ta-da!”, Melissa says, “here's what you'll be wearing to that interview!”
I look at the clothes in confusion, and then at her.
“I thought you said I should be dressed to impress….”
“Well yeah I said that. And this is what I think you should wear!”,Melissa grins widely, “I think in some way dressing in something similar to a job’s uniform could help whoever is hiring partially help in securing the job position...”
“You're saying–”
“No, no, I don't know how to word it properly, I just think dressing in something akin to a position’s uniform shows how much a potential employee is looking forward to certain jobs….it's not always a good thing but it's definitely a start!”, Melissa says, enthusiastically cutting me off.
With a toss of the articles of clothes flying directly at my face, Melissa immediately encouraged me to put on the clothes.
“Now put them on girly!”
“......Alright…..”
With that I, without hesitation, remove my shirt and drop my pants to the ground. Quickly, I equip the pants and begin buttoning up the shirt, leaving the first two buttons unpopped and folding the collar.
“So…how do I look?”
There's a long pause, a pregnant pause some would say. Melissa is just silently staring, she looks pretty zoned out to me to be honest…
“Melissa…?”
I tap her on the cheek, and she flinches a bit.
“Earth to Melissa….you zoning out on me? Do I look that bad?”
Melissa suddenly grabs onto my hands. “You look amazing in that button up! You look really really….”,she paused again, her face seems to be getting red, “I mean…this outfit looks perfect on you…”, she steps back with a chuckle.
I furrow my brows with concern.
“Hey….are you alright?”, I ask in a lower tone. “You're face is getting red….”
Melissa steps back and erratically shakes her head. “No! No! It's nothing!”
I suck my teeth in quietly and step closer to her, pressing my hand to her forehead.
“You're burning up Mel….you should stay here for a while until you feel better….”, I suggest.
Melissa simply smiles and shakes her head once more.
“Please don't worry about me….I can't possibly stay here…I have to go home soon and um…feed my dog!”
Before I can respond, she bids me farewell and good luck on the interview and books it out of my home.
I stand there silently in the living room with a bit of a perplexed look on my face.
“But I thought you had a cat…?”
