The following is taking place between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM on the day of the California presidential primary elections.
Paul's office
Jack and Paul stand and Chloe sits and work on her laptop. Jack calls.
Split screen: Jack talks to Gale. Gale is in the yard of the house that exploded.
"Jack, that was a trap," says Gale. "The house was booby-trapped, I and six other agents managed to get out on time, but two agents didn't have time to leave before the house blew up."
"What's their status?" Asks Jack.
"One is in moderate condition and the other is in serious condition," says Gale. "The ambulance is supposed to arrive and take them to the hospital in two minutes."
"Okay, I want you to go back to CTU when you're done," Jack says.
Jack hangs up and turns to Paul: "Because you did what the terrorists told you then Gale and his team got into the trap, the house they went into blew up and two agents were wounded, it could have ended much worse, so now you're doing exactly what I'm telling you? "
"The house exploded?" Says Paul. "I didn't know that the terrorists wanted to lead us to a house that would explode."
"No, they wanted to take us to an ice cream shop," Jack says sarcastically. "Come on, what have you been thinking?"
"I wanted to save my family," Paul says. "You would do the same."
"Do you think that if you cooperate with these terrorists, they will release your family?" Says Jack. "You can't trust them."
"Listen, this fight of yours will not lead us anywhere, "says Chloe." We need to concentrate on the work now, and if you want, you can continue to fight later. "
Jack looks at Paul.
In the yard of the house that exploded
One of the agents approached Gale while he is holding a small sensor.
" Gale, we found that sensor at the door," says the agent. "The moment the sensor felt that they we entered the house, it detonated the bomb."
"Okay," Gail says to the agent.
Gail walked into the house.
On the second floor of the old building
In the room are Marta and Tom. Their hands are tied. The man in a cop's uniform opens the door. Now he's wearing a blue shirt and jeans.
"Come," the man says to Martha.
Martha doesn't move and the man says, "Come!"
"It's all right, Mom," says Tom.
Martha walks toward the door.
"What do you want?" Martha asks.
"You'll find out," says the man, and they both leave the room.
The man closes the door and walks down the corridor holding Martha's arm.
Paul's office
9:04:52, 9:04:53, 9:04:54, 9:04:55
Paul's phone rings. Paul takes it out of his pocket and says, "That's him."
"Chloe, are you ready to locate the call?" Asks Jack.
"Yes," says Chloe.
"Try to stole time and put it on speaker," Jack says to Paul.
Paul answers and activates the speaker.
"Yes?" Says Paul.
"Good work," says James' scrambled voice.
"I want to talk to my family now," Paul says.
"You can't."
"I'm not doing anything until you let me talk to my wife," Paul says.
"I don't need your help anymore."
"I did what you said to me," Paul says. "If you don't need me anymore then release my family now."
"I will free your family when David Palmer dies," says the scrambled voice.
"And if he doesn't die?"
"Hope that he dies," says the scrambled voice, and the conversation breaks off.
"Did you get his position?" Asks Jack.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
"There wasn't enough time and he was talking on a phone that you can't trace," Chloe says.
"Okay, keep working on the card," says Jack. "And I'll update Tony in the situation."
"Don't update him," Paul says.
"Why?"
"We don't know who you can trust," Paul says. "If we have a mole in CTU and he will find out what we are doing, then he will warn the terrorists and my family will die."
"Tony is a good friend of mine," Jack says. "He can be trusted"
"Okay, but no one else should know about it."
"The truth is that unlike you, I trust my employees," says Jack. "But we don't need people other than Tony right now, so it's okay to keep the work we're doing here secret."
In the main room on the third floor of the old building
9:07:05, 9:07:06, 9:07:08, 9:07:08
A man with medium-length black hair wearing brown gloves enters the room. He walks toward James.
"Here are Paul's fingerprints," the man says to James, showing him a thin transparent paper with a fingerprint on it.
"Good, now paste Paul's fingerprints on the bullets," James says. "And when you're done you'll give the bullets to Sean."
"Okay," says the man, sitting down on a chair.
On the table next to him are four rounds of sniper rifle. The man takes the transparent paper with the fingerprint and places it on one of the bullets. James leaves the room.
CTU
Johnny works on a computer and Tony talks to him.
Jack walks toward Tony and says, "Tony, I need to talk to you."
"Keep it up, okay?" Tony says to Johnny.
"Yes," Johnny says.
Tony approaches over to Jack.
He puts his hands on his hips and says, "What's the matter?"
"Come," Jack says, and they walk toward the stairs. "You know that the house Gale and his crew went have exploded?"
"Yes, I heard," Tony says as they climb the stairs. "The information on the card led us into a trap, so I don't know if we can rely on what is written on this card, maybe even someone put it in on purpose in order to mislead us."
"Tony, we didn't get that information from the real data card," says Jack.
"What do you mean?"
"Paul replaced the real card with a fake card," says Jack.
"Why would he do that?"
"He did it because the terrorists abducted his family," Jack says.
"They kidnapped his family?" Tony wonders.
"Yes, and they threatened that if he didn't follow their orders, they would kill them," Jack says.
"So what are we supposed to do?" Asks Tony.
"Now I, Paul and Chloe are secretly working on the data card."
"Why in secrecy?"
"Paul thinks we might have a mole in CTU," says Jack.
"That's ridiculous," says Tony. "I trust all of my employees and I don't believe anyone in CTU will betray us."
"I know," says Jack. "I trust them, too, but open an I eye."
Jack and Tony go into Paul's office.
Jack notices that Paul is not in the room and asks Chloe: "Where's Paul?"
"I don't know," Chloe replies. "He left the room one minutes ago."
On the second floor in the old building
9:10:23, 9:10:24, 9:10:25, 9:10:26
James walks down the corridor and into one of the rooms. At the entrance to the room stands the man with the blue shirt, and on the chair sits Martha with her hands tied. In the middle of the room there is a table. James sits down in front of Martha and puts a page on the table.
"I want you to read it," James says, bringing the page closer to Martha.
Martha takes the page and looks at it.
"I will not read it," Martha says, putting the paper on the table.
"You'll read it," James says.
"I won't tell lies about my husband," Says Martha decisively.
"What, lies like that Paul evaded taxes for years," says James.
"He didn't do it."
"Maybe you didn't know that before I kidnap you, I did a little research on Paul and it turned out that he had withheld more than $ 100,000 from the IRS," says James. "I know he did it to pay for the mortgage of your house, so don't lie to me."
"Okay, I admit he did it," Martha says, looking at the page. "But the rest of the things written here are lies, I can't read it."
James gets up and says, "You'll read it, because if not, I will shoot you."
James pulls out the gun and points it at Martha.
"Okay, I'll read it," Martha says A little anxious.
James puts his gun behind his back and tells the man standing at the entrance to the room: "Get me her phone."
The man takes Martha's phone out of his pocket and hands it to James. James turns on the recording app on the phone.
He puts the phone down on the table and says, "Start reading."
James starts the recording and Martha holds the page and begins to read: "I'm Martha, Paul's wife, and I'm recording myself because lately I've noticed a very suspicious behavior on my husband's side, Paul. In the past few weeks I have noticed that he is behaving strangely. He avoids me when I ask him certain things. He's less at home and he's also meeting people I've never seen them. It's true that for a few years he had withheld a tax of more than $ 100,000. I know it's not right I didn't report it, but I thought he was doing it for The family and I felt it was wrong to inform on my husband, but now that I've seen all his behavior lately, I think that I was wrong. I feel that Paul is hiding some dark secret from me, that he is not the person I really know, so I decided today to leave the house before it's too late. I will take my son, Tom, and we will fly to my sister. There we'll be safe. "
James stops the recording and says, "Great."
He picks up Martha's phone and walks toward the door.
"Put her back in the room," James says to the man and leaves the room.
In the main room on the third floor of the old building
9:14:06, 9:14:07, 9:14:08, 9:14:09
In the room are Ben, Sean and the man with the black hair. Sean puts two black gloves into his bag. The beg is on the table and there are several documents in it.
"I did what you asked," says the man with the black hair. "Why can't I go?"
"I told you, James wants to talk to you," Sean replies. "Wait for him."
"I'm not going to wait here until the police find this place."
"No one will find us," says Sean. "We're in the middle of nowhere."
"Well, I'm not taking that chance," says the man. "If James doesn't come and talk to me now, I'm going."
The man walks towards the exit of the room and before he leaves James opens the door.
"Ian, where are you going?" Asks James.
"I understand you wanted something from me," Ian says.
"Yes, I need you to plant Martha's phone in her house," James says, bringing Ian the phone.
"for what?" Ian asks.
"There's a recording on the phone that incriminates Paul," says James. "That's how the authorities will think Paul is responsible for the assassination of David Palmer."
"I always said that you are very clever," Ian says, smiling.
"Go and let me know when you did that," James says.
Ian leaves the room.
"Are you ready?" Asks James.
"Yes" Sean replies.
"Let's make the call," James says.
He takes out his phone and calls.
Split screen: Paul comes out of the bathroom, his phone rings and he answers.
"Yes?" Says Paul.
"Listen to me, you're going to call someone and say," The agreed money has been transferred to your bank account and the rest of the money will be transferred to you after you assassinate David Palmer. ""
"Do you want to accuse me of the murder of David Palmer?" Says Paul. "No one will believe you."
"It's none of your business," James says. "You just have to say that."
"But you said you didn't need anything from me anymore."
"Do I have to remind you that I still have your wife and son?" James rise his tone. "You will follow exactly according my instructions, clear?"
"Yes."
"Now I want you to call 424-0726552 and say what I told you."
The conversation hangs up. Paul calls the number James gave him.
"Yes?" Sean replies.
"The agreed money has been transferred to your bank account and the rest of the money will be transferred after you assassinate David Palmer."
"Good," Sean says. "Plummer will die soon."
Sean hangs up.
James and Sean hug each other.
"Good luck," says James.
"Thank you," Sean says, picking up his beg from the floor.
"In less than an hour David Palmer will die and all that will be behind us," says James. "I trust you."
Sean looks at him and leaves the room.
