Jake paced the lounge, fury covering his face.
“Be calm Jake,” murmured Kagami, her haunting eyes could be seen from the mirror over-hanging the unused fireplace.
Jake scowled, wheeling about. Kagami had reappeared to him shortly after he had left Nathan lying on the training room floor. She was calm and collected once again, the look of terror had long been removed from her carefully hidden face.
Jake was furious that he had been bested by Nathan yet again. And even more so that Nathan had destroyed his carefully built world when no one else could. Jake couldn’t understand it. How could Nathan, a Keeper for only a few hours, have the power to destroy a world that only Jake should be able to govern? How did he rip away the illusions of his world, throwing him into the kind of hell, that Jake had only seen when he first pulled Kagami from the base of the Angel statue?
“It is his blades,” Kagami whispered, beckoning for him to come inside the mirror.
Jake wanted to go in. He really did. But the fresh memories of the hell that Nathan had shown him, was too much for Jake to handle right now. He could still hear the voices screaming, echoing out of the walls of his hilltop mansion.
“I know it was his blades!” Jake screamed, “What I want to know, is how he did it!”
Kagami was quiet for a long moment.
Jake didn’t dare look up for the fear of anger crossing her perfect face.
“Nathan possesses the original blades,” she began quietly. No anger colored her tone, “I have only come across them once before in my long existence.”

Jake looked up to meet her pale eyes and she continued, “Nathan was wielding Yami when he fought us in the training room.”
Jake nodded, identifying the dark sword Nathan possessed as Yami.
“Vex,” Kagami spat distastefully, pretty eyes narrowing, “She’s the demon from hell that occupies the sword. Keep in mind however, she was no ordinary Demon, she was one of the first. Vex used to be a great angel and when Lucifer fell, dividing the kingdom of Heaven, she joined him, becoming his right hand.”
Jake paled sinking slowly to the couch, “And Nathan possesses her power?”
Kagami nodded as Jake absorbed this piece of information, “And not just her power, the white blade Akarui is just as powerful.”
“I still do not understand,” Jake said thoughtfully, “How was he able to rip away the illusions and drag our world into hell?”
Kagami sighed, “This void inside the mirror, this is the pathway to Hell, Jake. No matter how you dress it up. Our power stems from evil.”
“Evil?” Jake stepped back in shock, “My blade is evil…?”
Kagami stared at him for a moment, “Come in to the mirror, I want to show you something.”
Jake stood up and uneasily approached the mirror. The touch of the glass didn’t feel as safe as it used to. But he sucked up his fear and stepped through anyway. The world he entered was desolate. Fire burnt and heat waves came off the very ground.
“This is my world without the veil,” Kagami stated, walking towards a large red door.
As they approached it Jake was horrified at the lifeless faces that seemed to be sealed within the grainy wood. “What is this thing?” He wanted to turn away, but couldn’t stop staring.
“This is a gate to hell,” Kagami touched it with a finger and the faces slowly turned to face her hand, “This is what Vex opened to release that devastation on our world. I keep it hidden, but she knows exactly where it is. You are only the second Keeper I have shown this to. Please do not open it.”
Jake gulped, staring intently at the terrifying door, “I don’t plan to.”
Kagami nodded, “We create illusions to either enthrall or terrify. We use lies to our advantage. That is not a gift of heaven but one of hell. The problem is Vex controls aspects of hell, she has a serious advantage over us.”
Jake frowned, “Does that make us evil?” He whispered.
Kagami eyes softened, “No Jake. It makes us who we want to be.”
Jake groaned, his face falling into his hands, “Things used to be so simple.”
