In an old appartment complex a man is fast asleep. Not dreaming, no. What would someone who is so unwanted dream about. No he is experiencing a nightmare.
After being kicked out of the magical world by his family and those who are associated by them for being a half-blood in Hufflepuff he joined the military. Going into the British Army he had little expectations on his life turning around as he just wanted to do something for himself. His half brother had always pushed his friends away using their family name and magical prowess to ensure that he was miserable.
7 years of being the loner, the black sheep. He wanted none of it. No longer will he be the one that must bend to the will of others. Except he did.
In hindsight, the man should have realized that the military is exactly about that. An army can not be efficient if there is no form of hierarchy. Without a rank you are to conform to your superior officers and carry out the necessary orders. Honestly it works quite well.
The only problem is that there is little to no record of him in Britain.
Having little else than a birth certificate and joining the army made his superior officers treat him poorly in boot camp. Any squad he was assigned to was put through the ringer as nothing he did was enough. Always, he was the problem. It was so bad that he got the direct blame for when another squad had missed the time for their marching because he was within the area of their break.
A spy.
That was how he was treated as. He could only ascend to be a logistics officer for the boot camps. The mountains of paperwork that was pushed off onto him to work through and file was beyond measure. When a drill instructor had been late one day for morning marches, it was the man that had been subjected to reprimand.

He had enough.
Going directly to the Major in charge of the camp he explained his case. The man was understanding as he had seen the injustice occuring to him during his training, but was too low rank at the time to go over his superiors head. At first everything looked like it was going through the right channels to get the instructor reprimanded. Sadly that had not happened.
One day on his way back to his desk he saw a military police officer with a drug dog next to his desk. To say the man was shocked was an understatement. Next thing he knew he was in a taxi with a box of his things after getting a dishonorable discharge.
All these scenes played in his head throughout the night.
Banging at his appartment door awoke him. Groggily looking at his alarm clock he saw it was 3:37 am. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes he slowly made his way to the door. Still the sound of someone at the other side of his door harshly knocking rung within his ears.
Opening he saw Oliver Silver, someone from his year at Hogwarts. The Gryffindor ended up becoming an auror like was his dreams.
"I certainly was not expecting you here." Oliver was one of the people who had stepped up for him in his first year before the bullies started messing with him.
Hearing those words Oliver could not meet the mans gaze.
"Look, I don't know what to say abou.."
"Don't worry about the past." The man cut him off.
The last thing he needed was simpathy from someone who did not stick up for him when he needed it the most.
Oliver sighed deeply. Looking back up there was no longer the face of a former classmate, but that of an experienced auror.
"Your brother is dead. Right now you are the only one who can succeed as the Lord of your house."
That was not what the man thought this would be about. Before he could ask any questions Oliver continued with some more news.
"As the Regent of the Most Noble House Aster you are also now the magical guardian of your niece, Selene Aster. Welcome back into the World of Magic Silus."
