Sitting behind his oak desk within his office, Silus contemplated what to do next.
These last years with Selene were enough to bring back his hope in humanity. The girl was like the first ray of light to a coal miner after their long days of darkness.
Looking to his left he saw the box that began his 3 day long migraine. There was no way that he could even ask someone for advice, not like he had anyone to go to anyway. This was just way too big.
Covered in ancient runes and hieroglyphs was a black box that was half a meter on all sides. There were engravings on every side that made it to where any different angle held new runes and images. The cube even had a slight ambient light coming from the thing that only seemed to follow his gaze.
Silus sighed as he forced himself to tear his eyes away before any more potions were needed.
Leaning back, Silus thought back to the elation that had overtaken him when after 8 years of analysing it opened. The thing was a puzzle that played off of his very perception of reality. Any change in angle, light, or mindset ended in the complete failure of trying to decipher what was right in front of him. That doesn't even take into consideration that he needed to know the languages and runes, as well as how they interacted with each other.
The wizard had lost count of the amount hours spent in the library or hiring someone to teach him what he needed to learn just to begin researching. That does not even count the languages that have essentially died and had to be reconstructed from the scraps left by the passage of time.
"Oh how the world today would be if the countless ancient cultures still existed. The things we could learn, what could be understood." Sighed the wizard.
"Uncle! Uncle!" The sound of feet thumping up the stair could be heard from the door.
'Ah, she must be done with her homework,' Silus thought. Turning around in his chair that he brought from his old apartment, Silus managed to catch the blond rocket heading towards his chest.
"Can we do it now?! I want one! You said I could have one as a familiar today! Come. On." Selene punctuated the last two with big tugs on his sleeze. She was putting as much strength as her little 8 year old arms could, turning her face red from the effort.
Chuckling to himself the half bood could only relent. He did indeed say that they could try it out eventually as a means to appease the hyperactive girl.
Getting up Silus could not help thinking to himself that his life is just going to get insane.

Going through the hallways of the muggle portion of his Animal Research Reserve in Scotland, Silus was eventually dragged to an inconspicuous wooden door. Even though it was a little out of place in the modern building, the stone brick exterior left over from what used to be here before the reconstruction was enough to explain away.
The East Wing of the building was where more of the remnants of the destroyed Aster family manor over looking the sea remained. Seeing a wood door here was hardly eye catching. Still, Sirus ensured that there were 6 other wooden doors scattered in the East Wing just so that there would not be questions of just the one.
Magic is very useful, but can sometimes become unreliable. Should the Muggle Repelling or Notice-Me-Not Charm fail there would still be no suspicions on why it was there.
Unlike many wizards, Silus was not naive to think that the muggles would never eventually discover the magical world. Even with his limited time in the muggle military he could see the rapid advances in technology.
Placing his wand on each of the doors hinges he recites a part of the poem, The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more.”
When he recited "tapping" he would tap his wand on the door's handle while he would rap three times on the center of the door when reciting "rapping." All had to be on time with the poem or else the door would not open resorting in the wizard having to recite it all over again.
Not many wizards would ever know a muggle poem enough to recite the first passage, but still that was the point. There were some Ravenclaws who could not keep their curiosity from bleeding over into the muggle world.
Turning the handle and pushing through, the entire atmosphere changed.
Where once there were windows everywhere to cast in natural lighting, now there was a bright light overhead acting similar to the sun outside. Where red and brown brick along with white plaster covering the walls now there was polished grey stone in a giant dome structure.
The entire place was separated into different sections for the animals being held.
Dragons were in the center as they required the largest area to move around, Unicorns to the North as they were to be kept away from their sworn enemy the manticore in the South. To the East were the dangerous Nundu whose jungle was not to be entered unless an entire team wearing the correct protective gear was authorized. The West was where the workers quarters were located as well as the far less dangerous magical creatures.
Naturally this was the magical section of the Animal Research Reserve. Sirus had used the destroyed Aster family manor and land to construct a Magical creature Reserve. As the ward stone was still recoverable, Sirus paid the goblins a hefty fee to have the family wards repaired, upgraded, and repurposed to fit its new function.
Sadly any family that would have lived here was killed in the Dark Lord's assault on the property. Not so sadly was that there was no longer a home of abusive bullies to come back to.
As Regent of the Most Noble Family of Aster, Silus had control of the wards and all vault funds until Selene came of age to take up her Ladyship.
"Come on!" Selene was impatient to finally see what the box would do.
Now was when the box would open a whole new world of research to the magical world.
Now was when wizards would breed a new species of creature.
Now was to introduce to the world, Pokemon.
