1. Prologue

A young man walked down the dark corridor, his boots crunching against the rocky ground. He had just slain a few monsters and was feeling great, as he had managed to level up. The thought of leaving the dank catacombs rekindled his dying determination. The torch he carried tried its best to light up the surroundings but didn't help much.

his pack was bursting with low quality herbs he had found in a guild confirmed chest, and he couldn't wait to see the profits he could make from selling them to an alchemist.

as his march continued, his shadow danced behind him, and his thoughts racing excitedly for what is to come once he exits. though the Dungeon was large and had a labyrinth like layout, with the map the guild provided it was simple enough to navigate.

I just hit level 5, that means I can go to a more difficult dungeon now! all I have to do is get out now!

His pace quickened as he thought of his future. Fame, Gold, Women. Just thinking of all of this made him want to get out of the catacombs as quickly as possible, but to do that he needed to get back to the 1st floor.

Which way was it to the first floor? man, my memory has been failing me recently. I'm glad the guild tells us to keep maps on us now.

Checking to make sure he actually had the map on his person, he climbed the stairs. he took note of a chest in an intersection of the dungeon, he made sure to remember, so he could report this to the guild. there have been lots of rookies like him dying due to a surprise from a mimic.

as he walked he noticed how his surroundings seemed different from when he came. confused, he checked the map and made sure he came the right way.

Suddenly, he fell to the ground as he felt something grab his ankle. startled, he tried to pull away, only to see a bony hand that shouldn't have been able to over power him.

"What!" he screamed in shock as he tried to fight against whatever was pulling him. This wasn't very helpful, though, and all it did was make it easier to pull him under.

he felt his body being pulled closer, his struggle completely ignored by whatever the hell was grabbing him.

As his body was being covered by dirt, he tried to scream and flail, only to have his mouth filled with dirt and the same bony fingers that had pulled him in.

Just as quickly as the scuffle started, it had stopped. only leaving the occasional crunching sounds and darkness.
