Dan Adams sat down at his kitchen dinette and unscrewed the top off the bottle of whiskey he had been saving. Maria Meyes had just stormed out of Dana's apartment after delicately explaining she had been sleeping with his best from Joseph. So instead of waiting to celebrate his first born child or getting a promotion, the bottle of whiskey seemed to say it was time to be open. Dan stared at the tall glass with amber liquid in it. "You know what the funny thing is! You were given to me by Joseph." Taking a big gulp, the whiskey burned and bit it's way down Dan's throat.

"Fuck! Joseph, you have some shit taste in whiskey. Well, as daddy always said, 'Now that the bottle is open, its going to go bad.'" Dan poured another shot and gulped it down, and before he could feel the burn leave him, he was pouring another.

Dan felt his anger at Maria and Joseph start to well up, so he grabbed the bottle and stomped over to the couch to turn on the TV. "Dan, it's not you. It's just ever since the meteor shower, when you weren't home I went over to Joseph's house and we seemed to have a real connection. A real connection? What does that even mean?"

Dan looked up at the TV to find the evening news on. Some male news anchor with grey hair seemed to be talking to some pretty younger woman that had the air of professionalism. "Now Dr. Lafounte, you have a new amazing theory about the world wide meteor shower that occurred. Would you please explain why you believe that this was not a natural event?" The male news anchor said.
