Prologue – The meeting in the forest

Prologue – The meeting in the forest

In the orange horizon above, the sun slowly made its way down and the light was replaced by darkness. The winds became colder, it was a full moon. The terrifying, blood curdling howls from hungry wolves made scalps go numb, and chills to arise from the lower backs up along spines.

In small grove, now dark and eerie, surrounded by white asps, there was a round table with ancient, old candles placed upon. The winds were unable to penetrate through the landscape, giving it quiet stillness.

Around the table, ten figures sat. Their robes were green, brown and had the image of a big, massive oak onto. It stood firm, on a bare mountain peak. It didn’t budge to anything.

“We cannot continue this, it has to end. Their acts of violence and blasphemy have gone to far. Furthermore, our mother is still not to be found. I advise us to prepare for war.”

A middle aged man slammed his fist in the table, “Adresin, what do you expect us to achieve? The power of ours might be great, but without mother and her guidance, where will it take us?”

“How do we know unless we try?” Another one said, “If she was here, the choice would be obvious! Those headings shall be removed from this planet, that is the only truth!”

“You stupid idiot! She isn’t here!” An older man roared, “Can you get that into your head!? If we attack, we will be slaughtered like pigs, then offered to their brutal spirits. I refuse to stand by and let that happen!

“Enough.” A eloquent voice resounded. It was smooth like the summer climate, but also deep like the deepest crack of earth that spiralled down to the scorching, hot magma.

“We can achieve nothing by fighting against each other. This time we must wait. I feel that someone in our kin will come, someone able help us out from the dark, bottomless pit and let us once again reach the pinnacle. My old friends, let us wait. As of now, we don’t stand a chance.”

“Fine.” They all agreed, their figures slowly blurred, and faded away like dust scattering from a breeze. And as that, the meeting was adjourned. Only the table lit by the candles were left, constantly causing shadows of flames to dance on the ground.
